Genres
I'm open to a wide range of genres. Obscenely wide. It's harder for me to list all I do like than all I don't like.

My favorite settings are fantasy combined with something else, multiverse, post-apoc, historical (mixed with something else), and futuristic. I'm not limited to those, but it's a good start.

My favorite genres include mystery, adventure, action, drama, tragedy (must be mixed with something else and kept balanced), romance (again must be mixed, and more.

I'm happy to include elements of slice-of-life and romance, but doing them on their own doesn't hold my interest indefinitely.

APPEARANCE

▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ❆ ▇

Selene is a rather beautiful girl. She has somewhat darker brown skin with a cool, silvery undertone. Her hair is a shiny black and goes to the bottom of her ribs. Selene stands about 165 cm and weighs 62 kg. Her eyes are a haunting red, almost a bit pink.

Selene, however, can change her appearance. While she only has one human appearance, she can shapeshift into any arctic animal she chooses, including dangerous animals like a wolf and a polar bear, to smaller animals better suited for stealth like a puffin or a hare. No matter what she turns into, her eyes are always the same red color, which is a tell of her mythical heritage. If needed, Selene can also change into humanoid versions of those animals, all still with the red eyes.

While many assume Selene's human form is her natural form, they are sadly mistaken. Selene's true form is that of a tall, incredibly thin creature with pale whitish skin. Its fingers are long and spindly, as are their toes. Their eyes are positioned sideways so they blink side to side instead of up and down, and their mouths are sideways as well. Their mouths are lined with normal human teeth, and their eyes remain red. Thankfully for some, an ijiraat in this form is completely invisible to normal humans, but to anyone with magic associated with them or other creatures who are magical in nature, they are unfortunately able to bear witness to her nightmarish form.

PERSONALITY

▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ❆ ▇

+Courageous: Selene isn't one to run from danger. If there is an obstacle in her way, she won't shy away from it just because it might be too hard. She will face it head on, even if she fails.
+Cheerful: Selene is a bright and happy person, and she will try to do her best to cheer up others as well. She wants to make people feel good and be friends with everyone. Some think she is a little overbearing with her cheer, and this can turn people away, but she still tries to bring cheer to those who need it.
+Kind: Not one to turn away someone in need, Selene is one of the nicer people one will meet. She likes to think there's a good side to everyone, and that everyone deserves chances in life. She's incredibly friendly, even to those who have wronged her.

±Competitive: Selene enjoys the competition in life, whether it be a fight or a game of some sort, she often has to be reminded that it is just a game, that she can have fun, and to not hurt people. In sports, she is dead determined to be the best, even if she isn't.
±Maternal: When around children, Selene becomes strangely quiet and loving. She has an innate sense of needing a baby due to her heritage of being a baby snatcher, so sometimes she can get over attached to children that are not hers, and has occasionally accidentally walked away with a child before immediately righting the situation.
±Private: Selene believes some things just shouldn't be shared. She doesn't talk about much of her life unless she trusts an individual because she thinks it is unnecessary. Due to this, she is also incredibly good at keeping secrets simply because she keeps her own.

-Disorganized: Selene is not exactly the most tidy individual. Her room is always cluttered and if someone attempted to find something in her living area, they would be horribly confused. There is an order in the madness, however, and she almost always knows where things are in her room.
-Clumsy: For being such an "elegant" creature, Selene is unfortunately extremely clumsy. She has a new bruise every week, if not more. She trips, falls, bumps into things, and is all around just not very aware of her surroundings. She is so clumsy, some have accused her of doing it on purpose.
-Insecure: Any sort of criticism about her will likely make Selene cry. Not only is she really easy to make cry, she gets especially heartbroken when someone comments on her looks, her personality, or really anything that she can't much control. She hates transforming into her normal form because everyone is scared of her and it makes her feel bad.

HISTORY

▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ❆ ▇

Selene was born to two other Ijiraat in a small town called Iqaluit in Nunavut, Canada, on Baffin Island. She didn't stay there long, however, and by her third year the family moved to Burnaby, British Columbia, which is where she grew up. Through her childhood, she was homeschooled and didn't have many friends, except for one. A young neighbor boy, Thomas, who was more fascinated by her eyes than scared became fast friends with Selene. His parents were shaken at first about the family's strange eyes, but soon welcomed them once they overcame their appearance and saw them as just another lovely family.

As Selene grew, she had Thomas at her side at all times. His parents began to homeschool him as well so the two could spend more time together. He was being bullied in school, so it made sense to them. The two spent every day together if they could, and the families brought them together on family outings. The two families became very good friends.

When Selene hit puberty at age 13, it came with the unfortunate side effect of now being able to shift into creatures. Her mind started to change, as her shifting went out of control. Her parents explained this was normal and tried to ease her into it, but hers was exceptionally bad. Her animalistic brain would take over when she shifted, usually into strange and terrifying combinations of animals, and she would attack anything nearby. Eventually, it slowed down, and her parents deemed it safe to let her return to her activities. They were terribly wrong.

When Selene next went out to meet with Thomas to go to the park, her shifting took over once again. Her form twisted into a horrible humanoid creature, and the beast brain took over, attacking her friend and killing him. Once she returned to her normal state and realized what had happened, she ran to her house and explained it to her parents. Without further thought, her parents sold their house, bought a camper, and drove away. Between this, police had questioned them, and when they left they knew they would be pursued. Instead of going to another town, they decided to find some secluded forest to live.

Years went by without incident, and Selene was now 16. Her shifting was under control, but her mental state was not. Years of guilt and mental agony weighed on her, until one day she decided to just leave. She left a note to her parents, explaining her situation, packed up some food and left. She went to a nearby town where the family usually shopped for groceries, getting a ride from someone at the truck stop. She wanted to get back to Burnaby to apologize to the couple. Before she could get to her destination, however, the trucker turned on her and attempted to take advantage of her. She was forced to kill him and find another way there.

Eventually, Selene found her way to the city. She found the house, knocked on the door, only to be told that the previous couple moved out. After some searching, she found that they left Canada entirely, and now lived in North Carolina. Knowing she'd never make it there, she gave up on her adventure. She didn't want to return to her parents however, she felt as if she had ruined their lives. Instead, she stayed in Burnaby. With nothing much to her name, and unable to find a job without a permanent address, Selene eventually moved to a life of crime and soon found herself as part of a gang. This new family of hers appreciated her gift, as it was best used for stealing and fighting. Instead of becoming just another bitch of the gang, she quickly gained ranks and trust, becoming very well known as someone you didn't mess with.

While Selene never got into drugs, she did get addicted to alcohol during this time, as well as became a wanted criminal. She was the muscle as well as the infiltrator for her gang, she didn't think much about taking the life of anyone anymore. When she turned 19, she once again lost control of herself after a night when she drank more than she ever had, and ended up killing some of her gang in the aftermath. She woke up in a ditch somewhere, clothes covered in blood. She was still in Burnaby, but didn't remember the previous night. Her gang members, now turned against her, let her know what she did and she was once again forced to run.

The rest of her life is mostly a blur, but somehow she ended up in Lethbridge. Here, she found help, and got back on her feet. Her crimes were never brought to light. At 22 years old, she got her first apartment signed in her name and was living a rather good life working as a manager of a local hardware store. She had been clean for a year, and stayed that way.

Now 27, she thought life was going well. While she had been tempted by alcohol more than a few times, she was able to stay clean. Selene got a call one night which changed everything. The parents of Thomas, they had found her and her number. They wanted to know why she did it because all signs pointed at her. Not being able to speak except for "I'm sorry, it was an accident.", she hung up and went to the nearest bar. She began to drink, wanting to drink herself to death. Unknown to her, she once again lost control of herself and was picked up by Invictus, where she now waits for her processing in a cell.

WEAPONS & ABILITIES

▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ❆ ▇

WEAPONS
As of now, Selene has no actual weapons except for any natural weapons that come about during a transformation.
ABILITIES
Ability Name: Shape Shifting
Description: Selene can transform into any arctic animal she wishes, as well as into a humanoid version of said animal, leading to some particularly terrifying creations. When she was first getting the ability to shift, her body would shift parts of her into various animals, but she isn't able to do so normally. Selene tends to favor wolves and caribou. She can also shift into a human form, which is what she usually wears, and can shift back into her regular self as well.
Strengths: Can shift into arctic animals in order to suit her need, gains the abilities and strengths of said animals such as speed or flight, can sometimes pass herself off as said animal.
Weaknesses: Can't shift into animals other than ones found in the arctic, only has one human skin, gains all of the weaknesses of said animals such as needing to breathe water or being poisoned by certain things, her eyes are always red so her disguises aren't foolproof.

OTHERS

▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ❆ ▇

While in her true form, non-magical humans cannot see her.

Selene knows a fair amount of Inuktitut but doesn't consider herself fluent, her parents tended to speak English in the home.

She is pretty good about drinking and has only relapsed once. Parties tempt her, but she stays sober over fear of what might happen.

Selene really loves coffee. She does not like tea, calling it "musty leaf water". Hot cocoa is her second favorite hot drink, followed by warm apple cider.

Before Invictus, Selene had no idea that there were really any other supernatural creatures in the world because she never met them.

Selene isn't particularly fond of transforming to anything smaller than a hare because it messes with her perception.

The Call of the Wordbinder

Hello! I'm Moody, but you could also call me Modwri. I am twenty-nine years old and have spent roughly the past dozen years independently studying writing and roleplaying, though I've been roleplaying for sixteen years. I live at home with my mother and my roomie, and play video and computer games when I'm not writing posts or working on character information. I'm picky about my wants, but I've learned many skills that help me find a middle ground. I look forward to hearing from prospective partners!

Terminology

For any confusion about my terminology, please see this thread, which includes a small dictionary of my commonly-used terms.

: sexual themes are likely.
-: plot under discussion, but not yet taken.
: favoritism or cravings.
: no specific plot in mind.

Character names inside of parentheses are optional inclusions.

To answer this partner request, please send a PM.
Do not post in this thread.

  • Availability and Frequency
    • I am online from roughly noon to midnight EST daily. Matching this is optional.
    • I try to post twice a month minimum per RP. I have been known to take as few as thirty minutes at the shortest to two months at the longest when suffering from Depression's hardest downswings. Patience is required, and I give as much as I expect.
    • Reminders every few days are welcome.
    Skill
    • Advanced, adept, or prestige partners who appreciate flexible post lengths (Six sentences minimum) are preferred.
    • Third person and past tense are required. I am easily confused by other tenses and points of view in an RP thanks to my Autism.
    • My partner should be willing to play multiple characters, if the need arises. I am willing (and eager) to do the same.
    • Excitement and willingness to help drive the story forward are expected. A roleplay where only one partner is excited and driven does not last.
    • I am interested in accepting new ideas at this time, provided they involve my characters as they are listed, or my Hunter canon.
    Limitations
    • I am twenty-eight years old. I play best with partners of similar or higher age, with 21 as my typical lowest limit, but I have made exceptions, and likely will again.
    • All plays will be moved to the appropriate forum if sexual scenes begin.
    • I am willing to play any gender, and either male or female sex, provided it fits the story, though my main character listed for a plot is my main role.
    • My partner may play any gender and either male or female characters as long as the portrayals are not sexist (though the characters may be), and the character fits into the plot in an interesting manner.
    • For the hybrid sexes (intersex, futanari, hermaphrodite, etc), inclusion can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
    Communication
    • I do not expect to spend days or weeks in discussion, though I absolutely do not object. I will not plan every aspect of the RP, but I will gladly throw ideas around for what could happen, in an effort to stir additional interest and excitement.
    • I prefer to have finite plots, and am not averse to 'sequels'.
    • Similarly, if my partner and I become 'stuck', I will happily communicate with them to get past the sticking point so we can continue to enjoy our story together.
    • My partner and I are not in competition. When we craft a story together, we must work together and be willing share information freely, with some exceptions. Complete character information is not required, but summaries and some profile information may be helpful for the planning process.
    • I will ask first if something confuses me, or if I feel the need to time-skip or take (usually minor) control of my partner's character. I would like the same courtesy given to me.
    • I will alert my partner quickly if I lose interest in a roleplay. I expect to be given the same courtesy. No reasoning is needed, and I will not take any offense.
    • Players who want to contact me should send a PM and preferably keep open communication throughout the roleplay's duration.
    • In the event of a hiatus, I will alert all partners either through Discord or through the PM system.
  • Characters of mine that can be inserted into a setting of my partner's creation through use of portals or by other means.

    Pretty Kitty
    {Elizabeth (young)}
    • This Hunter from the early days of the organization is a powerful and cat-like creature who relies on her charisma, optimism, and incredible physical prowess to protect humans during her missions.

    Misguided Miss
    {Faida}
    • Once upon a time, Faida had a crush on a member of the Council who was a known abuser and pervert of young girls, though he refused to touch Faida. Despite this, they remained friends until the Great Devouring took his life and left no remains. Since then, Faida takes missions without a partner in order to protect others' loves and keep those romances from harm.

    Trapped Hunter
    {Griff Agmund}
    • After a mission gone wrong, Griff is convinced of his fledgling partner's death, and in a fit of guilt and grief, he wanders away, missing his transportation home. Now, he must avoid the strange army that killed his partner, while also curbing his instinctual and monstrous urges.

    Tiny Bird
    {Princess Jade}
    • The child version of Jade (below), she has not yet come into any of her later abilities, save her healing factor. If she is not in her own world, her father sent her either to learn a lesson or because he was drunk and thought it would be funny.

    Thirteen and Pregnant
    {Jade Mortimer-Senate}
    • When she found out she was pregnant, she fled from home through a portal of her own design. Depressed and away from her family and friends, she has to deal with the consequences of her actions alone—or does she?

    Runaway Leader
    {Lady Jade}
    • The leader of the Hunters after overthrowing the Council, Jade is not a Hunter, but something else. Most often, her travel to other universes comes from her attempts to run from a frightening or uncomfortable situation, usually caused by her tendency to forget that she vomits after sex.

    Look upon My Works, Ye Mighty.
    {Ozymandias}
    • Once upon a time, she ruled the world. Her people turned on her, and she watched for nearly two hundred years as they ruined the planet. Everything changed when someone found her, hiding and depressed, and revived her sense of hope. When they left, she found a way to leave behind her home and seek new universes.

    Useless Hunter
    {Twiggy} {Eyes}
    • Nobody is quite certain where Twiggy comes from, but he's the only Hunter with tattoos. His unique Gift of foresight (and his blindness) have given him the position of the only Hunter not sent on missions, though he often finds himself in another world regardless, sent by his Gift to protect the first person who stumbles upon him: friend or foe.

    Colored Scales
    {Viviette Ainsworth} ({Bear})
    • A Hunter of unique circumstance, she isn't quite as driven as other Hunters to kill monsters. This is almost as problematic as her defense of 'abnormal' Hunters from their ruling Council.
  • Characters and plots that involve the need to solve some mystery I have (partly) schemed.

    Flushed Mysteries
    {Ianna} {Mossfox}
    • Long ago, a pink woman conquered the lands, and ever since, she has ruled immortal and ensured prosperity for her people, despite the slowly-encroaching wastelands that surround her lands on three sides, and the ocean on the last. Perhaps it's time someone learned the secret behind her immortality.
  • Characters from standard or near-standard fantasy settings.

    Silver Streak
    {Armand Bloodstar III}
    • Newly released from prison, this career criminal didn't even bother to wait for the guards to remove his chains before he left. He must decide if he wants to keep to his life of crime, or try something new with his life, but either way, he thinks it best to skip town.

    Noble Warrior
    {Edienne Vresk}
    • A modest lady night, Edienne would like someday to be taken seriously by others, but until that day, she will take it upon herself to do her best for the good of her family and lord.

    ⍰ ⍟ Witless Widow
    {Lucia}
    • The scandal of the city, Lucia lost her husband over a decade ago, and though she sees plenty of scandalously young men, she has yet to remarry.

    Catchy Song
    {Markke Wrothsen} {Pulytia}
    • In this East-Asia flavored fantasy, monarchs reign supreme, especially in the courts. Join a strict mage and an elven diplomat as they discover...

    Monster Savior
    {Sharo Zul} {Albion Lordchild}
    • Sixty years ago, the orc hero named Sharo Zul disappeared suddenly along with most of the slaves she had freed, and her monster-bred wolves. A year ago today, she reappeared alone in the tower from which she disappeared and began her raids once more to free the slaves from their human masters, and within six weeks, the humans took the tower. Currently, the fate of Sharo Zul is unknown to all but those who took the tower back from her.

    Soulless Wonder
    {Villaume Pierrot}
    • In a country where those capable of magic are considered soulless property, this pet to a local politician seeks to gain a semblance of respect from those around him, but he doesn't know if he's doing it right or not.

    Topless Tyrant
    {Vinziek}
    • Beheaded by heroes called Hunters from another realm some years ago, Vinziek lives again thanks to his sponsors, the Unifiers. He has begun taking similar actions to before, from his same stronghold. However, the Hunters have not appeared.
  • Characters from standard or near-standard modern settings.

    ⭒ ⍰ Dog Boy
    {Benji}
    • It's summer break before his senior year, and Benjamin Yitch-Bates still has no friends except for a few online. However, after overhearing a rumor about the nearby "haunted house", he decides to go take a look. Also available in adult flavor.

    ⍰ ⍰ Local Library
    {Eric}
    • A normal-looking, if androgynous, young man works for the local library. He's not only secretly a transman, but also has a strange ability that surfaces when he's scared.

    Heads and Tails
    {Lauren}
    • Humans are convinced they're alone, but one college student... has a tail?

    ✑ ⍰ Glistening Sheets
    {Valentina Belloumi} {Kirsta}
    • A hemophobic vampire is rooming with a med student. What happens when Valentina wakes up to find a stranger in her bed?
  • Characters and stories that I am no longer actively seeking. This section is made to preserve their coding. Partners are free to ask if I'm willing to take an idea out of retirement for them.

    Purrfection
    {Poppy Leauge}
    • Poppy has taken to following only the most titillating people around: skipping from world to world or popping in for a visit of her own volition. She leads them off into whirlwind adventures. Poppy is an adorable long-haired white cat, but when something happens...

    Farming with Death
    {And}
    • The pursuit of knowledge is often considered the noblest motive, but most who approach the elderly farmer's home seek instead riches or the man's life. And has not found a single one suitable for teaching what he's learned, and he is running out of time before his death. He must either take a local youth as a student or take advantage of one of the scoundrels who try to rob him of life or rumored wealth.

    ✑ ⍟ Expensive Trash
    {Melanie}
    • A retired whore in a big west-coast city, she loves making friends, having fun, and fondly remembers the days people used to molest her on the subway—but perhaps it's time for her to grow up a little.

    Hell on Earth
    {Revquael} {Sarai Paternoster}
    • God has abandoned Earth. Follow either a female priest in a failing congregation hounded by demons or a part-succubus angel whose goal is to seal the evil within humans and monsters alike.

    Lady Stump
    {Elizabeth}
    • She has outlived everything she loved, everything she hated, and her own heart's ability to feel. Through the ages, she has become god-like in ability to enact her will, but deep depression has robbed her will to live, and so she has been slowly turning to stone on her ancient seat.

    Failure Farm
    {Morgan}
    • Morgan moved into a decrepit farm recently, and through her struggle to make it livable and productive, she's bound to meet new people through a variety of methods. A character with a strong personality works best alongside Morgan.

    Auspicious Creature
    {Kass Scian}
    • "Feed me and cut off my arms," the deformed figure in the coat demanded, "And I will bring you good fortune."

    Precocious Terrorist
    {Julie} ({Morticea})
    • This mysterious girl was first seen in Florida in 1995, and grew visibly more feral and criminal as she traveled north. Throughout her journey, she stole from gas stations and convenience stores and kidnapped younger children from child care facilities. She arrived in Detroit in 1996, and now in 1997, she continues her crime spree throughout Michigan.

    BC Corp Founding
    {Biocybera} {Psiblast} {Obsidian} ({Morticea})
    • Julie (above) disappeared suddenly in 1999, only to reappear with a new name in 2002 in Norway. She used an army of children to conquer much of Scandinavia, and gained two new generals. By 2005, she's started to fortify her conquests and expand, and the USA has begun to intervene more seriously.

    Burned Ward
    {Sidney}
    • Formerly a general under Biocybera, Obsidian survived the United States' bombing in 2005, and gave a false name to the American soldiers that came to rescue the members of the child army. Unable to find parents that didn't exist, he was placed into foster care, and has been moving from home to home for the past eight years. Currently, it's January 2015, the and the first day back to school after Christmas break.

    Muzzled Beast
    {Psiblast the Pet}
    • Formerly a general under Biocybera, Obsidian survived the United States' bombing in 2005, but instead of being found by American Soldiers, he was found by looters and sold to the highest bidder. For eight years, he has gone through harsh and degrading treatment, and deprived of his mental abilities. Now, in January 2015, he wants nothing more than vengeance against America and all who have ever touched him since the bombing.

    Warehouse Kid
    {Vincent}
    • Twenty years after the 2005 bombing, strangers appeared among the world's population and interbred. These strangers were later discovered to be descendants of Biocybera, and as people learned to identify them and their offspring, hate crimes grew in popularity. Now in 2219, these people called "demis" have grown in population to one in thirty. Vinnie's story is one of a child who was abused by his father when the man discovered his wife and child were demis. Vinnie lives alone in a warehouse.

    Grown and Adopted
    {Vinnie}
    • At 21, Vinnie has grown into a strong young man, and though he was adopted by two demis only a few years older than him, he still struggles to survive. Between his catfishing as a preteen girl and his lack of filter, he gets into trouble often.

    Hidden Empress
    {Invisible Woman}
    • An alternate future to Biocybera's timeline, the world-spanning empire ended in 2076, and corporations took over. Now in 2301, on New Year's Day, a popular site called BiocyberaFinder picked up a blip in northern Norway, on one of Biocybera's old bases. The blip wasn't uncommon, but the strength of the signal was. Now, it's a race to investigate.

    Unlikely Duo
    {Aspa} {Violi}
    • These two do best working together, though one or the other may take a more dominant role in the story due to personal interests. They are Hunters, most often used for cases that require investigation, if they are freed from their underground prison, or they will be used as a destination for injured and endangered people of importance, to protect them on a world hidden from Jade's enemies.

    Closeted Cuddler
    {Bear} ({Viviette Ainsworth})
    • Bear is one of several homosexual Hunters, but in an era among the Hunters where such a sexuality can lead to execution, Bear must deny part of himself, while also completing his missions to protect humans. May be accompanied by Viviette.

    Glimmering Infinities
    {Beryl}
    • A beautiful golem crafted of every color of beryl seems to hold the universes just beneath her polished surface. Who will heed her call?

    Caw Caw, Motherfuckers
    {Crow}
    • The top-voted for most hated among the Council, here is your chance to meet him! He often visits worlds where humans are common for a couple years at a time to refamiliarize himself with the humans he is sworn to protect.

    Killjoy
    {Drake} ({Kina})
    • Drake takes only the most dangerous missions to protect the denizens of the places he visits. He doesn't often share why he takes such dangerous missions alone, but may open up to someone persistent. He's sometimes accompanied by Kina.

    Feline Good
    {Elizabeth Leauge}
    • Time for a well-earned vacation, or perhaps Elizabeth wants to recruit a new local agent somewhere—either way, watch out! Elizabeth has high expectations, and if they aren't met, she will make her needs known.

    Traitor
    {Faust}
    • A long time ago, this Hunter was captured and brainwashed by an opposing organization. Ever since, he has served them faithfully toward their goal of merging all universes and realities into one. Despite his faithful service, he seems uncertain.

    Wayward Son
    {Faust}
    • Returned to the ranks of the Hunters by Jade, Faust has kept to himself for the past few years, and now seeks to regain the trust of the other Hunters by pursuing missions, by himself if need be.

    Presumed Dead
    {Graham}
    • Three hundred years ago, Graham fled from the Council's rule suddenly at the end of a mission. He faked his own death and went into hiding, and now a strange scent is taking him back to the city where his last mission took him—or perhaps he's just found something interesting where he wanders.

    Turncoat
    {Hegga}
    • A long time ago, this Hunter was captured and brainwashed by an opposing organization. Ever since, she has served them faithfully toward their goal of merging all universes and realities into one. Despite her faithful service, she seems uncertain lately, and prone to sneaking behind their backs.

    Redhead Relic
    {Jikei}
    • Jikei has Hopped between universes for the past too many years, often to find himself in a situation where someone or someones require help. Also available in 'unwed' flavor.

    Out of Hell
    {K} ({Rena Silva})
    • K's incredible ineptitude is only matched by his high IQ. He's walked into hell, and now his story continues after he walks out into a different world.

    Lady of Secrets
    {Kina} ({Drake})
    • Kina is a Huntress who tells nothing about herself, but still seeks connections with others. With a specialty in espionage, she often goes on missions alone to check the veracity of a mission on the board, and in some cases, to complete the mission herself. Sometimes, she is accompanied by Drake.

    Proving Himself
    {Kinny}
    • Often babied by the leader of the Hunters for his youth and familial relations, Kinny secretly seeks missions of moderate difficulty to prove that he no longer requires 'easy' jobs, and that his scars from the war aren't a reason to treat him delicately.

    Uncommon Circumstance
    {Rare (past)}
    • A 'rare' specimen among the Hunters, Rare serves one member of the Council rather than all of them. She is treated and used as a puppet or doll, and her youth, beauty, and mastery of defensive and non-aggressive forms of blood magic sees her used to investigate, infiltrate, and occasionally assassinate.

    Rare Privilege
    {Rare (present)}
    • As a Hunter under Jade, Rare's typical mission partner is a man named Brock, but sometimes circumstance or a personal request sends Rare alone on a mission to either find and eliminate dangers or to investigate them—though sometimes she returns the places she went as a youth, to seek aid and closure.

    Unique Situations
    {Rare (future)}
    • Finally freed of Crow's bonds entirely, Rare continues to serve Lady Jade, this time entirely by choice. She retains her status as an infiltrator and intelligence officer, and although she goes with 'her' Brock on most missions, she is still sent solo on special request from either the head of intelligence or Lady Jade.

    Watery Woman
    {Seela}
    • A water-based Hunter, she can turn into water, breathe water, and communicate with very basic water-dwelling life forms. She's incredibly lazy and very quiet, but does enjoy making friends, and may follow her chosen 'new friend' incessantly, on a mission or not. When she goes out to other worlds, it isn't always for the sake of a mission.

    Shark Attack
    {Toothe}
    • An aquatic Hunter, Tooth can breathe in water and on land. His biggest weakness is heat. He's often used as brawn on missions, and usually has a female partner (to be created during discussions).

    Pathetic Bug
    {Valen}
    • Although Valen is officially a Hunter, she almost never goes on missions. When she does, it's typically alongside another Hunter (can be created later), or she goes somewhere on accident.

    Ghost in the Dormitories
    {Lilevilen Dhumgilt}
    • The topmost medical university in this realm has a strange rumor: a ghost lurks in the male dormitories: usually Rosesabre Court, where the non-paying medical students live, however it sometimes has been seen ranging as far as the wealthiest of dormitories. The ghost takes the form of a girl, and when she crawls onto your bed, the story goes that she'll eat your soul and rip out your throat with her jagged claws. Comes in both lewd and non-lewd flavors.

    Yellow Woman
    {Katharine}
    • A secret member of a well-known whores' guild, Katharine seeks to live as normally as she can during the day before going to meet her clients late at night. Her goals are to someday learn the local language, and to own her own store to sell flowers and other nice things.

    Virgin Wife
    {Silyn}
    • Married to many-time widower, Baron Treebreaker two years ago, Silyn lives with her husband and his many children, but her husband refuses to touch her, and her stepchildren do not respect her, as most are older than her.

    Into Hell
    {K}
    • K's incredible ineptitude is only matched by his high IQ. During his walk to hell, he's nearly killed himself by pushing past his body's limitations: dehydration, starvation, and exhaustion.

    Sham Wow
    {Mike Shelton}
    • New Age Shamans are the newest form of supernatural mediums among humanity. Entirely untrained by conventional means, they rely only on the power of their will, and among them, Mike is something of an urban legend. He rides in his beloved car up and down the East coast and occasionally detours into Michigan or even as far as the Mississipi River, and as he rides around, he stops and helps people, often in exchange for money, a meal, or car repairs.

    Red Song
    {Scarlet}
    • Originally intended for use as a living infiltration weapon, Scarlet was a classified failure on the brink of termination because she had no control over who she targeted with her pheromones. Since being freed, she saw a state-assigned psychologist until a breakdown forced her to remember why she was created, and she became a shut-in. Now, she's a mystery to her neighbors, who think her apartment is haunted.

    Haunted Manor
    {Doll}
    • A manor on a hill stares down morosely. Deadly secrets hide behind its rotting doors. Dare you plunge into its dust-covered depths?

    Black Crown
    {Dzhed} ({Hegga}) ({Faust})
    • Kidnapped as a child, Dzhed has been handed to various heroes around the world by mysterious men in teal for three thousand years, experiencing abuse and re-education in turn. Torn between seeking rebellion and accepting her fate as the hated monster known around the world and kept on a tight leash, she tries to find relief from the nagging sense that she should have been more.

    Witchwood
    {Ellith} {Beliam}
    • Injured men appear sometimes from distant places, but regardless, Ellith tends their wounds and helps them recover with the help of her son, Beliam. Only one man comes at a time, and quiet rumors persist that the barriers between universes are nothing before the force that brings men to her.

    Shattered Worlds
    {Lady Luck} {Micheal} {Natalie} {Digger} {Kjramen}
    • A war that lasted 20 years ended, with Unifiers as the victors. Twelve years after the Hunters were sent into hiding and sealed away, they began to merge the universes together. Something went awry, and instead of merging smoothly, the universes crashed together violently. During this shattering, a woman's voice screamed, audible everywhere, for a week, after which the surviving Hunter and the entirety of the Unifiers began the search for Jade.

    Match.com Creep
    {Aldric}
    • The ugliest man he knows of is seeking love... but not entirely for himself. He made an impulsive decision to adopt a child, despite his very limited lifespan, and now he wants to find a husband or wife to take care of the child once he's gone. He's trying online dating, speed dating, and going to bars and clubs to meet people.

HIT ME BITCHES

Hey! I'm Moody. I'm twenty-nine years old, and pretty much have a reputation as one of the more messed up people on the site. Today I come to you with a singular idea that has niggled at my mind for the past few days, yearning for sweet, sweet release.

First and foremost, this idea is based on K exiting Hell into a world that is not his own. Please bring your own settings for him to play in!

Be warned, I only really have planned my character and the start, so when you come to say hello, please don't hesitate to bring along a few ideas on where to go from there! This will mostly be a hurt/comfort RP, and the start is likely to have several short timeskips as my character fades in and out of consciousness due to his injuries.

So, without further ado, my character is to the left, and you can click the image for more information about him. He uses masculine pronouns, but has a female body. He does not identify as either gender, and finds the concept strange and unappealing—equally as much as he finds the concept of having sex. On that topic, I am not averse to, nor do I require, sex inclusion, but be aware that any sex that involves K will not be entirely consensual, as he is the oblivious type and will not realize on his own what is happening until later.

My partner's character does not have to be anything specific, though I strongly prefer if they contrast in one or more ways with K. A few types of contrast I enjoy include, but are not limited to, size, age (preferably bring older characters), rank, and socioeconomic position.

As far as my partner goes, I most enjoy partners who fall in the adept, advanced, or prestige ratings on the site. I like to have at least eight sentences to work with, too—with no upper limit. For requirements, I need all posts to be in third person and in past tense, please.
Starting Post
K stared at the King of Hell for several long moments, and then turned. He had his answer, but... he didn't like it.

"Where do you think you're going, plaything?" the King asked, and K glanced back.

"Home."

"After coming this far in? Surely you noticed that nobody stopped you from coming this far... Even that demon? Didi, you called her? She led you here. Come on, you're a smart human." The king's grin spread wide, revealing vaporous black teeth with wicked barbs. "Why would that be?"

K spotted the barbs, and his eyes shot wide. He wasn't stopped because they wanted him there, going ever-deeper. Everything in Hell was to punish sinners, and what act could be more prideful than entering Hell on purpose? Going deep into it, as deep as it went?

The moment it clicked, his feet slammed the polished black floor as laughter echoed behind him. Shadowy spears narrowly missed him as he fled, gripping the straps of his backpack as he exited, then slammed the door.

Thudthudthudthudthud!

He panted against the door, and slowly, the stone-like guards turned to look at him, their bodies tinkling as the dark stones moved. They stared at K, and he stared back with wide eyes.

The quiet lasted only a beat before a dark aura pulsed from them.

K gritted his teeth as they began to approach, the titanic beings no longer sounding like chimes, but a cacophony that burned into K's ears.

Past them, he saw Didi, staring at him with wide, confused eyes, one hand over her mouth. Horned, bald, and clad in business attire, the pure black demon wasn't very bright, but she waved to K regardless.

He ducked to one side as a guard launched a slow-moving attack at him, and K scrambled as his hands hit the black stone of hell's floor. He launched himself forward, toward Didi, expecting her to help him.

Instead, that peaceful face he'd come to trust morphed into wicked joy as a grin grew, and her claws also.

Even in heels, she was fast, but K saw her coming in time.

Barely.

She cut his clothing, but he didn't stop to look back.

He ran.

If anything drew his blood, anything at all, he would never emerge from Hell.

Every level brought its own struggle. Heat. Cold. Guards. Demons.

Only at the first ring did he have chance to pause as he escaped the sight of the first ring's guardians. He pressed himself in a nook of the great red-stone spires and let the dust of Hell itself disguise him, even as it irritated his skin.

Moments became minutes became hours, and the sounds of the guards faded from cacophony to gentle tinkling, and then began to grow distant at last.

His shoulders slowly sagged, until he heard something else. Not the winds or the wailings, but a distinct voice.

"K? Is that you?"

K opened his eyes, then uncovered his mouth as he nodded, slow, and then more rapidly.

The man. They met before. K remembered him by his hair: a short ponytail with shaved sides.

"What happened to Marshall?" the man asked, and K began to hunch.

"Dunno," he managed, his voice choked by his own stress as he looked away.

"Shit, guy like him, probably got himself killed." The man sighed. "Listen, come on, I told you I'd talk to the others, they'd come around. You can come back to camp! They won't kick you out again, I promise." He smiled and offered his hand to K.

Slowly, K looked at the hand, and then up, only to spot a spiked growth in the man's chest. Red began to grow, soaking into the shirt, and the man's face as K looked up at it for the first time showed clear surprise.

"Oh," the man said. His last word before his body was ripped back and away from K, then set upon by the first ring's demons: quadrupedal creatures a bit larger than house cats. Spiked tails and bony bodies covered in ridges gave them an evil look, but their four-inch claws only cemented the look.

K turned. He close his eyes. He ran.

He ran until he slammed into and through something. It sent a ripple through him.

Suddenly, his body ached. His lungs burned. His skin screamed agony, and he gasped in his first breath since he entered the gate into Hell.

He escaped.

His legs lost their energy all at once, and he made it only a few more steps before he collapsed against something hard. He opened his eyes to see a long wooden bench, and lifted his arms to catch it, to hold himself from falling entirely.

K panted as sweat and tears began to form and drip, carving streaks through the dust that covered his sunburnt face.

So cold.

This place... so cold...

So silent. He heard his every ragged breath, heard his own pulse, heard the quiet sound of his palms squeaking against the wood he gripped, and even the brush of his layered clothing.

Too much.

Bile rose in his throat, and then spewed forth. Chunks of a meal long forgotten spewed onto the floor. Dazed eyes looked around, blury and unfocused, before he shuddered and crawled weakly onto the bench. A sob escaped, and then another.

A passage came to mind from his old research.

But, knoweth this well, travelers into Hell! Should thee enter with injuries on thy person, and thee survive to leaveth its horrors in thy past, those injuries thou has't entered with wilt thrice strengthen as Hell attempts to taketh back what hath hath departed from it.

Maybe... he should have waited until he recovered...

Even if it meant serving Rena...

I'll Code For You

I'm bored and I want to help with coding. I'm open to try anything, and if I fail? You're out nothing. This is free, and I'm doing it for fun so I can learn to code better, because I can do some pretty wicked-cool things with it. I'm willing to try anything, but I ask that you bring your own graphics or accept that I'll use filler/neutral images and tell you sizes.

I'll also debug your coding and fix shit that broke with the update.

My coding thread: Samples and Testing

Lastly: I accept tips, but they aren't required.
Tips will be used to fund my addiction to getting commissions of my characters.

Matthew Volt was a simple guy. There were a few things that he really enjoyed doing. Such as weaponizing computerized home cleaning appliances. His army of doombas would be complete soon enough. But some vaguely temperamental asshole that he occasionally fought with over the past couple years decided to make an execution squad and organized a meeting at some terrible hour in the morning. Backpack and duffel bag packed up, both his suit and his precious little dangerbots all settled in for the trip, he left his apartment for the last time without a second look back. He was used to doing things like this. And instead of getting beamed up to the Crusader, he marched off to a Dunkin' Donuts in order to get a coffee. He had priorities.

With coffee in tow he found a secluded spot away from prying eyes and poofed up to the Crusader. "Behemoth I'm home~!" He announced loudly in a vaguely sarcastic tone. The coffee hadn't kicked in enough for him to care all that much. A yawn escaped him as he wandered the ship, finding the corridor with the bedrooms in it with relative ease once he put his mind into getting into the ship's blueprints. He dropped his bags in the first empty room he found and quickly pulled out a piece of scrap paper from his bag, a pen, a blue highlighter, and some tape.

DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE DO NOT ENTER
With his makeshift sign hung up on the door, he picked up his coffee, took a swig, and set about pulling out his currently working doomba from his duffel bag. He figured he'd let the little guy take a wander around the ship while he was in the meeting. Would be good to figure out the layout from a visual standpoint, figure out how things look so he wasn't just wandering around with a blueprint and a prayer. So lil baby stabber was off on an adventure. He went off in the opposite direction of the little autonomous vacuum cleaner with a knife taped on the front. He found the meeting room easily enough, and flashed Behemoth a little smirk that screamed I totally didn't unleash a little stabbybot on the ship. "Long time no see, Behemoth." He greeted him easily enough. He sat down across the table from the male and took another sip of his coffee. He wore the black gloves that kept his charges at bay for now, but depending on how well this meeting went, there was a good chance they'd come off in a heartbeat.

【 Matthew Volt 】

Probably the biggest liability pain in the ass.

  • 《 Basic 》
    Full Name:
    Matthew Michael Volt

    Current Alias:
    Havoc

    Nicknames:
    Zappy, Shocker

    Age:
    32

    Gender:
    Male

    Race:
    Mutate

    Height:
    6' - 2"

  • 《 Background 》
    History:
    Matthew Volt was dropped off at an orphanage when he was just an infant. Growing up out of an orphanage in Detroit was rough. Getting called Zappy due to the fact that he somehow managed to generate enough static electricity to shock quite literally everyone he touched was even worse, and really not helpful due to his unfortunate last name. He became a target to bullies due to his quiet nature, and when he stood his ground he was met with physical violence. He could deal with that. When he was taking the train home, things went far past what he was capable of dealing with.
    One of the guys who had been giving him a hard time was involved in some sort of gang. He got jumped on the platform by a small group of gang members, and after taking a severe beating, was thrown down onto the tracks. He hit the third rail, and the entire west side of Detroit blacked out. When he woke up, he was in an interrogation room. Apparently the guys who had attacked him had been electrocuted. He was soon transferred into a training program in order to gain control of his abilities. It was all very obscure, no legitimate names or clear answers. This program turned out to be some sort of military prep school, where he learned a great deal about hand to hand combat, as well as firearms and other weapons. While he thrived in this environment, he was fearful of what their end game was. After all, they were turning empowered kids into highly effective weapons, without much of a moral code.
    He didn't do that great in close-combat training, seeing as he was the only kid using restraint. It was noted how his base output voltage level increased drastically when he was under duress. He doesn't like to think about how they figured that out. After several ineffective attempts at training him in using his electrokinesis during close combat, they focused on his technopathy instead.
    He was immediately aware of how they were using him. His technopathy training had garnered whoever this group was a great deal of information on several things that anyone in a 'training facility' should not know. He had to give them something, otherwise he'd probably get thrown back into combat training, and with some of the information he got into, he knew that that could be fatal for him. The 'problems' he was given to solve did not originate with this group, and he used this time to gain an understanding of how the facility worked and what he could manipulate within it. He became increasingly aware of the security stationed around the facility, and how it seemed like he and the other students here were being kept in rather than threats being kept out.
    Slowly but surely he formed a plan of escape with a couple of other kids that managed to keep their heads on straight, and after the fight of their lives they managed to actually get away. He helped them establish identities online, faking photos and records in order to let them blend in and start new lives, leaving their pasts behind them. He chose to stay off the grid, and exposed the facility when they had a small electrical fire that caused emergency crews to flock to the scenes. Investigations were launched immediately when files leaked out about the treatment of the children at the facility, but the results didn't satisfy the teen. He decided then and there that he'd handle things on his own.
    With his newfound freedom, Matthew took on the alias Havoc, in memory of his role in the escape. He began his work as a vigilante, and garnered some fame and infamy for his ability to wipe the slate clean. He helped people who needed it, as he could make them disappear and slide into a new life. He frequently took out major threats when he came into a new area, some being left for police with damning evidence that would keep them in whatever dark hole they got shoved in, and some getting the electric chair for their crimes. He never stayed anywhere for too long, since he was aiming to avoid clashing with other do-gooders.
    Of course, he couldn't avoid potential problems forever. He crossed paths with Behemoth a few times while the guy was still with the Justiciars, occasionally fighting with him and occasionally helping him out. It depended on the day, mission, and target. Eventually, Behemoth approached him regarding a new method of fighting crime. One that he was already well versed with. They hadn't killed each other when they were on opposing sides and there was some mutual respect there. He initially disliked the idea of working in a group, since he really didn't want to end up in another situation where his abilities would be abused, but he knew Behemoth well enough to make an educated decision. The guy was a bit of an ass sometimes, but he wasn't that big of an ass, so Havoc became a founding member of the Crusaders.

    Personality:
    Matthew is a calm individual. Being relaxed under pressure is one of his specialties and he very rarely breaks his composure. He can be sociable when he has to be, though he tends to get worn out by too much contact. He can be a bit sarcastic when he feels like it and enjoys giving people a bit of grief when they do something stupid. Trickery and relatively harmless pranks also have a tendency to occur around him when he gets bored. He likes to believe that he's doing something truly good for the world by working with the Crusaders, and keeps a careful balance between right and wrong in the punishment of criminals.

  • 《 Gear 》
    Equipment:
    RUBBER GLOVES AND RUBBER SOLED BOOTS - due to the constant charges released by his body, he wears rubber gloves and boots in order to prevent himself from accidentally short circuiting any technological devices when he isn't off saving the world.
    SUIT - composed of a self-healing metal and synthetic material weave, this suit is highly conductive to electricity and magnifies his electrokinetic attacks. it's also bullet resistant, not bullet proof. the suit repairs slower than average due to the constant charges being released by him, so if he gets shot multiple times in the same spot in a rapid time frame, the bullets could get through and actually cause injury. the suit doesn't hold up too well against heat, either.
    Weapons:
    TWIN PISTOLS - in the case of him not being able to use his more combative abilities when he's a little too close to the action.
    RIFLE - range is his best friend. give him a vantage point and watch him go.
    BOOT KNIFE - for when shit really hits the fan.

  • 《 Skills and Knowledges 》

    Practical Know-How:
    HACKER - he knows all about getting into websites and systems that he really shouldn't be able to without getting caught. he can find information with absolute ease and cause a bit of havoc if building security controls are within his electronic reach.
    HAND TO HAND - he doesn't like it, but he knows how to fight up close and personal when he has to. emphasis on doesn't like. putting himself in the "get your head punched off" range is just plain stupid. too much risk, considering that he doesn't have any kind of enhanced strength or durability.
    MEDICAL - he knows how to treat injuries from a lot of personal experience. he generally doesn't trust anyone to treat his own injuries, considering the fact that he probably would end up zapping whoever was attempting the feat.
    Skillset:
    GUNNER - he's had extensive firearms training and has a very keen eye. this comes in handy when his abilities are compromised, since it's relatively easy to negate his more offensive one.
    TACTICAL - he was trained during his stint in pseudo-military prep school in order to make plans and adapt to the situation at hand. he doesn't like operating without a game plan and generally refuses to take on a mission until something vaguely reasonable is framed out.
    PAIN TOLERANCE - he can operate under duress. ignoring pain and tuning it out until he can actually do something about it is something that he was trained to do. it probably isn't the healthiest thing in the world, but it does the trick during a fight.

  • 《 Abilities 》

    Powers:
    TECHNOPATH - he can manipulate technology by utilizing his electrokinesis to access a mental interface from which he can control a given piece of technology. this requires a certain proximity depending on the level of difficulty.
    ELECTROKINESIS - his body generates a high level of electricity that he is able to manipulate in order to fry security systems, zap opponents, or occasionally shock people that need a slap on the wrist. it's effective in ranged format as well as close combat, but he really doesn't like getting in close to his opponents.

    Weaknesses:
    LOW TECH - his technopathy doesn't work on purely mechanical devices, and the older and more outdated the technology is, the harder it is for him to manipulate.
    PROXIMITY - his technopathy requires him to be close enough to observe what he is manipulating.
    SHORT CIRCUIT - if he attempts to use his electrokinesis when his skin is in contact with water, there is an extremely high risk of him zapping himself instead.
    NON-CONDUCTIVE MATTER - materials such as rubber and silicate are extremely resistant to electrical charges and pose some aggravating problems when worn by opponents.
    MAGNETS - electrokinesis gets whacky as all hell around magnets. his ability to aim any impulses gets extremely distorted, and there is a risk of him short-circuiting if he makes contact with a strong enough magnet. not to mention his suit is made up of some metal compounds, so he could get stuck on a powerful enough magnet. his technopathy would also get glitchy when exposed to high powered magnets.

  • 《 Relational 》
    Affiliations:
    The Nobody Kids - a group of empowered people who had escaped a highly questionable government institution and garnered secret identities for themselves, forging backgrounds and starting their lives over again.
    The Crusaders

    What made him cross the line?
    He was always over the line. People don't stop until they are forced to, and while sometimes this force doesn't have to be fatal, sometimes it does. He holds no issue with that fact.

"Help! I can't get any RP!"
Hello! This is my third attempt at writing this guide. My first attempt derailed when I realized that I was still very new to Iwaku and didn't even know the community too well yet. My second attempt failed when I got distracted by something shiny. Hopefully, this attempt will actually see itself posted.

There are already several threads on this topic, but everyone has their own opinion on what makes a thread work. For reference, thread writers in the past have been Sansa Stark, Diana, Minibit, ~Dark.Disney.Triplet~, and Elle Joyner. Absolutely look over the guides by other people—I'm sure I've not hit on every point imaginable, and it's always good to have multiple viewpoints.

In the thirteen years I have written on several sites, I eventually learned a method that works fairly well for me in luring people to talk to me, since I am very shy about sending messages. In this, I will concentrate primarily on how I make threads and what I expect of those who approach me.

As a note, my methods will not work for everybody, but they seem to work pretty well for me, and I want everyone to have a chance to find roleplay if they're looking for it.

Thread Construction
I'll begin with things to remember about layout.

Iwaku has a lot of BB Code available, including some that allows for resizing images to sit beside the text on the left or right (icss), floating text when you hover (tooltip), and even some really awesome ways to organize a thread (tabs). I suggest everyone take advantage, but also remember a few key details when making a thread.

First, it needs to be easy to read. Centered or right-aligned text can be hard on the eyes, especially if it's more than one line. Small text sizes can also be difficult, and paragraphs may need to be separated by an empty line if there are a lot of them. Finally, be careful with colors—some may be blinding on some of the site color schemes. All of these serve only to make things easier to read, and will let a reader view the content of the thread easily.

Second, images. I like to keep mine less than 200 pixels wide, and 200 tall IF they are not assigned to float to the left or right. The less a person has to scroll, the more they can absorb about a thread in a shorter time.

Once you have good presentation, it's time to work on the content.

The first thing I do is I write out my preferences in full gory detail. I write out how I hate and utterly despise when a partner asks 'are you having fun' five times to every post because I took an hour on it or something like that. I write about how horrible it feels when someone contacts me when I have a huge list of possible plots, and they're interested in something that is not at all related to any of them, and isn't even a similar genre.

Then, I rewrite them. I get rid of any reference to hatred or things that annoy me, and instead I simply state what I want, what I expect, and what I offer in a way that doesn't attack people, for example:

  • I would like a minimum of five sentences per post.
  • My posts will come roughly once a week.
  • Only contact me by summoning circle using the blood of a duck.

I may pretty them up further by having different sections, but the main point should be to list preferences, like posting speed and length, skill expectations, communication, and details that make or break an experience with a partner.

With preferences and rules set up, it's time to move on to the meat. I usually host my characters and plots elsewhere and provide a short summary in the thread, so that readers can (in theory) click on what interests them to read more, while I don't clutter them with unneeded information. Litphoria, Charahub, or Toyhou.se work well as character hosts, as does Iwaku's own character system. For plots, I usually use Litphoria, though other sites may work as well.

For this part, anything goes, though I do have some suggestions.

I usually like to bold a plot's title and offer clearly-labeled links to the story/character. I also typically include tags beneath the title in small font, with a regular size for the description of four sentences or fewer. Concise, short summaries tend to work best in my experience when there are a lot of ideas from which to choose.

The last part I write out is an introduction of myself—something short and personal that relates to RP. It's hard to go wrong here, except maybe by making it a long list (maybe). So, rather than go on about it, I'll just offer an example in the form of a link to Minibit's guide.

Also, find a good title. This thread offers some insight to how people may view a thread's title.

Advertisement
At long last, lovely Diana has re-enabled banners. Someone looking to advertise in this system should make one that is 800 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall and plug it into the form accessible through the "Advertising" tab at the top of the website.

Bannerfans has a simple maker that people can use for this purpose.

Diana does not encourage use of banners for 1x1-seeking where a person only wants to advertise one plot or find one partner. Also, I warn that users seeking to use this resource pay close attention to the star ratings. "Roleplay" is fine for most RP searches and recruiting groups. For sexual RP, teens should use Blue Star, and adults should use Red Star to avoid advertising to the wrong individuals.

Approach
For those seeking information on why people always turn them down, this section will hopefully offer some insight. This will not be correct for all players, but I have heard others complain about people having 'bad' approaches, and it can get very frustrating for everyone involved. To that end, I have a few suggestions.

Avoid saying that none of the ideas they list interest you. Try instead asking if the person is interested in working on something together or using one of your ideas, if their plots can't grab you, but their player information does. When doing this, try to keep your story ideas similar to the themes they include in their plots. A player who loves combat RP may not appreciate being approached for a romance or horror, and a player who advertises RP with a mix of light and dark themes may not enjoy a story that is completely light or completely dark.

My most successful planning sessions usually start with both players acting professionally. It's like stepping into a job interview. Both partners need to impress the other OOC initially. Use your best English and be polite. Choose what you say with care. This one applies to BOTH partners, and I have found that when both partners can do this, the RP will either take off and my partner and I usually become friends, or we are able to part ways without hard feelings.

Finally, take note of how a person asks to be contacted. Some people want to keep their thread empty of posts that don't belong to them, and others don't want a full inbox. Still more are Literally Satan and really want some delicious duck blood with their RP. Respect their wishes, and you're off on the right foot.

TLDR:
When making a thread, keep it simple-looking, clean, concise, and welcoming.
When answering a thread, keep polite, respectful, and relevant.

Title

The power of Europe is divided between two great empires. To the south, encompassing parts of Africa and up through Italy and France is the Atlantean Empire. A land ruled from the island kingdom of Atlantis, this power has outlasted all those who wished to overthrow it. In the cold north from Greenland and Iceland down through England, Scotland and Ireland, is the vast Brittania Empire. This power came into control late, uniting the cultures of the Norsemen and the Celts. Slowly, both Empires have set their sights on the independent countries between them.

During the reign of the dower Empress Victoria, it happened. Atlantis sank beneath the waves. No one knows what really happened. Rumor has it, a civil war between the king and his brother and the resulting conflict caused a secret weapon to explode and sink the island. The sudden vacuum has caused turmoil in the lands as Brittania and the various small countries try to swallow up the lands of Atlantis, and the loyal people of Atlantis wait for the day their kingdom will rise again.

There were a few survivors of the sinking. Among them were the infant prince and princess. Whisked away to the Americas, which is torn between the sudden loss of Atlantis. The northern coast is loyal to Brittania, and the southern coast is loyal to Atlantis. The prince was saved by people loyal to Atlantis and brought to the south of the Americas and raised him with the knowledge that he will someday travel to Atlantis, raise it from the waves and retake control. Without knowing his twin sister is still alive, they raise him on stories of how cruelly his family was killed.

The little princess is adopted by a family loyal to Brittania and raised in the north of the Americas. Without the knowledge of what she really is, her only clue is a ring that her family has tried hard to keep from her. Like her twin brother, she has the power to raise Atlantis.

Twenty years after the fall of Atlantis and the lands are still in on the brink of war. The few surviving nobility of Atlantis sank their claws into the surrounding land, unwilling to let it go. Brittania has slowly taken control while the various country-states have as well. Each year, Atlantis shrinks as their military forces dwindle. Their only hope lies in the twins and should one of them raise Atlantis.

And so, the race begins. Which royal member will reach Atlantis first? What will they do once they raise Atlantis from the waves? Are they strong enough to hold on to Atlantis once it's raised, or will another steal that glory? The other powers involved want to control the destiny of Atlantis, be it raised up and steal the power, or destroy those with the power to raise it.

So, who are you? Are you a loyal Atlantean who wishes to see your chosen royalty on the throne? Are you a spy from Brittania who wishes to steal the power of Atlantis for your empress, or yourself? Are you from one of the smaller countries that lie between Atlantis and Brittania, and need that power to finally wrestle yourself from the cloud of oppression that threatens from both north and south? Or are you acting on your own, and want to just steal that power for yourself?
