A Lark Is Not Always A Bird...

Water Falling...

Looking more "nature-boy" than "lover-boy", after his path through bush and forest, Kimba made way across grass and flowers. Nose to the ground... snurfle-haaaack-choo!... said grass and flowers going a bit too deep into nostrils, at times. Like a determined hound-dog chasing a 'coon, he went here, he went there. Banged his head on a tree. Stepped in something soft and squishy. Noticed the rise in ground, their chase-game having brought them near the mountains.

So near, Kimba's ears picked up the sound of a waterfall, falling off said mountains. Poor river, having to make a leap of faith, with blind trust the ground below would be there to catch it. Though in Kimba's case, less concerned with leaping, more wanting to wash off whatever it was he'd stepped in. Not to mention soothe that "blow" to the head. Bonus points! Avira's scent went in that direction, too.......

So Kimba took advantage of water and sound to hide his approach. Also using natural Nism gifts to play hide and seek with what senses he could, now that he felt she was, indeed, quite near. Her scent, leading to the water.

Him, now there. Oh so close.......

As soon as he got close enough to find out her hiding spot, she would jump from her little cozy hiding place and leap down the hillside and scramble behind the waterfall. She would hide there next, it was like a cave of mirrors, crystals covering the walls and little winding paths going deeper underground. She wanted to play for a while even though she knew they really ought to be travelling... They could do that later, she had a secret to show Kimba.

This particular cave was one of the places she often stopped to rest on her journeys away from 'home'. She found it to be comforting and overly beautiful in a shiny reflective kind of way, like there were multicolored mirrors all over the walls, and her reflection bounced about making there be dozens of her all about, making it near impossible to pinpoint her location save for by scent.

"Almost there Sugar~"

Sugar... an apt name for Kimba, he was awfully sweet to Avira, and she liked that about him, he could be the worlds greatest sweetheart when he wanted to be.

To Be...

Near impossible is a very interesting term. Because, if you're near something, it means you aren't there, yet. Which means, in reality... well, the term means it is indeed possible. A "near miss" is still a miss. A "near impossible" is still a possibility. Or at least probable. Which meant, if Kimba listened hard enough, he could probably pick up Avira's "Almost there, Sugar~"... yes, those three simple words. Shrouded, but touching that same sense that told someone they were being watched.

Remember, Kimba was willing to give both nads to find her.......

So yes, he had all his senses stretched to their limits. As he came to the water, he wove his on all fours pace into a dance. Traced chi patterns with fingers and toes. Water washed the squitch feeling from his offended foot. And an ever so slight waver showed up in the air over the rocks by the waterfall, just a short ways up the hillside.

Oh, to be Nism...

To live, to breathe... to feel.

For just a moment, Kimba just stood there in the water, absorbed the pure sensation of just being alive. In a green forest. By a clear waterfall. Towards which he slowly wove his way...

... eyes looking straight towards Avira's hiding spot. Quickened movements bringing him so close, her cozy hiding spot was in "danger".......

Avira was listening and feeling as well, all her senses on high alert, waiting for Kimba to come try and pounce on her or otherwise interrupt her hiding act, but she knew he was getting close, she could feel him nearing her, so she waited a little longer before diving out from the top of the waterfall and into the pools below with a seemingly elegant splash. She swam around for a bit, knowing it would probably ruin her grooming from earlier in the morning, but she didn't mind at the moment, she was in a playful mood.

She let out a musical laugh when she surfaced and swam to the rocky part of the shoreline around the small lake of sorts, shaking most of the water out of her fur in a spray that cast rainbows around her from sunlight refracting through the droplets flying out of her thick fur.It was quite luxurious, Avira's fur, she took a lot of pride in it, making sure her ears were dried out as well before doing anything, looking around to see where Kimba had gone off to after her little dive stunt.

Or Not...

It seemed Avira's plan to jump, leap and then scramble behind the waterfall... hide there, in her private cave of "mirrors"... well, it seemed to fall by the wayside. Hopefully, she still had a surprise to show Kimba. Because, yes, he liked surprises. That didn't involve being hit in the nads and/or involve flash photography, of a candid sort. And apparently no, rather than hide behind, Avira had decided to dive into the pools below this waterfall.

Not a good way to hide.

Though watching her ruin her grooming... splash... swim... shake water from her fur... ohhh! And her laugh just before that! Kimba didn't go anywhere. Though his presence did stay "hidden" from sense, remained Unnoticed as he looked about, spotted some flowers.......

....... Well, being a "sweet" guy, and given his own playful mood, with a ruffle of fur and flick of tail's tip, he gathered some of those flowers, applied a few swift moves to weave a "present", then snuck up on Avira. From behind...

... only at the last moment, dropping his cover in the same instant he set his "present" on her head...

... "Glad to see me again?"

Ears back, bright eyes and grin accounted for, his breath perhaps brushed her own just-dried ears with those five words, before she could turn around.......

Avira yelped when she was inf act rather startled by Kimba's sudden flowers that feel atop her head, it seemed to be a weave of sorts. She found it to be rather cute and endearing a thing to do for her. But she was startled nonetheless. But after the initial shock she tentatively reached up to touch the flowers with her hand, paw, claws, whatever you wish to refer to them by. But she touched the flowers and smiled, turning her head around to look at Kimba, having felt his breath ruffle over her ears.

"Cute gift. You're spoiling me silly boy."

While he wasn't exactly a boy at all, she still used the term in a teasing manner. Having shaken off most of the water, she walked past Kimba and over to a little ledge that she carefully walked across and vanished behind the waterfall, that tuft of orange the last thing to disappear behind the cascade of water that cast rainbows across the pond. Time for Kimba's surprise. She had not forgotten or brushed off the thought, she had simply wanted to take a little swim first. let Kimba catch up. She had a fickle mind.

Silly Boy, Fickle Girl...

Indeed, not exactly a boy. "Boys" didn't have shroudruff feathers. Though Kimba's feathers also indicated he wasn't yet a "man". Too short. Not fully grown. Still going through puberty. Still learning how to properly court a female.

In that awkward stage. Though, at present, he seemed to be doing quite well.

Fickle female and all.

And yes, at times, him, silly. Still enough "boy" to do immature things. Though trying very hard to present himself as a mature, responsible male. Despite the fact he'd engraved his penis tattoos on a chunk of metal and presented it as a gift. Though at the time, he didn't think it was silly to do so. Unlike Avira, Kimba's mind was anything but fickle. Yes, he made decisions on the spur of moment, but once on a path, he kept to it. This path, especially, he wanted to follow... to see the end.

To be there...

... "Just remember, there's more where......."

His grin never faded as she walked away, passed oh so close. Slid, oh so delightfully, behind the waterfall.

Kimba couldn't do anything other than catch up.......

With Avira now hidden within the cave, well... not hidden, but rather multiplied tenfold by the mirror like crystals reflecting her image back and forth across the walls, making her appear everywhere and nowhere all at once. She could be described as such, being hidden. it would be a little difficult to find her at the moment lest she revealed herself.

But for now she traipsed around the cave many paths, winding and always ending up back at the entrance at some point, the cave was almost maze-like in nature, but it was a very beautiful maze. She sang as she walked and pranced around in the cave, her image bouncing off the crystal walls repeatedly, making multiples of herself throughout the cave, the image bouncing around and being reflected many times. It was almost confusing.

"Silly boy, silly girl in a silly little world. Dancing in circles... Dancing around the fire."

She sang these words, along with others, but this was the chorus part of the song she sang.

Playing With Fire...

Well, to be honest.......

Kimba had spent a very long time living in this area, yes. Again, to be honest, he had spent a great deal of his time away, so busy exploring off-world, he hadn't done much exploring of his own neighborhood. Perhaps he'd heard about the waterfall's "secret", but not paid much attention. Until he followed Avira into the space behind said waterfall. And.......

Avira... everywhere reflected. As he, himself. As he walked, pace slow but steady, then picking up as he turned here, then there. Then...

... his eyes kept darting everywhere. His ears, a-twitch back, a-twitch forth. Tail, flick. One way. Another. Mane, then fur all over, ruffled. Tick-tack of claws on stone. Avira, singing.

Then...

... "Silly boy, burning for silly girl! Both, playing with fire... as they dance about in circles... on a silly little world!"

If she wanted to sing, then so would he.......

Hearing Kimbsa sing a mixed up version of her own song made her laugh, the sound tinkling around the crystals and bouncing off the walls. It was musical in it's own way. Avira could very well be a walking talking instrument if she wanted to be. So pranced around the cave some more before she came up behind Kimba, and very quickly pounced on him, causing the two of them to tumble across the ground.

Once they stopped rolling, it seemed that Avira had wound up atop kimba and she gave his nose a lick then a little rub with her own. Smiling softly at him and gazing through bright red eyes at him, the two orbs glistening and twinkling like rubies. She might not be very colorful, but her eyes were something else. They held so much emotion and they were brighter than most. Simply a stunning pair of eyes indeed.

She stayed there atop him for a moment before she walked over to one of the crystal clusters and took one of the smallest ones, perhaps the size of her palm, and stuck it in her stachel. Kimba had made her a gift, so she'd make Kimba a gift.

On Top...

Oh, yes! He wanted to sing! If only to make Avira laugh.......

And no, he didn't wince when she pounced, no, Kimba did not. Her, on top, not a bad thing... because it made him feel on top of the world. To have her so close. Again yes, for her bright ruby eyes, looking so deep into his amber jades. After her nose-lick and rub. So many sensations running through his warm, furry body, he could only wonder how he kept from musking himself again. Heh... hormones. Wonderful bits of bio-activity... seemed he'd finally learned to keep hold on himself.

For now, at least.

Then Avira removed herself, walked away. Lying there, he cupped hands over his muzzle, covered all four nostrils, and breathed deep, for a moment. Sighed. Giggled. And only then got back up to all fours. Then up onto twos, ears back and tail raised...

... "Nickle for your thoughts...?" Trite verbal expression, with an increase due to inflation. Then...

... "Hope you have enough room in there to last our whole trip."

Yes, he'd reached out, a single careful claw allowing him to grab a peek inside her satchel.......

Avira tucked the crystal away in her satchel. it was made of smooth and soft leather, but it had little red and golden swirls woven into it with soft threads. She had it since she was little, and she'd expanded it once a few leagues back in time. She used it to carry her brush, her journal, a pen, any trinkets she found on her trips, and extra snacks.

But her journal happened to be open at the moment when Kimba looked in, and he would see his name scrawled all over a page. Little hearts and such else doodled around his numerous names. She'd gasp when he peeked into her satchel, bat his hand away and tug it away from him. It was private and he didn't much appreciate him snooping around.

"Hands off!"

She was quite plainly blushing under her fur, and her eyes were aimed at the ground, holding the satchel to her chest and sitting on her haunches with her tail curled around her feet. Her claws dug into the rock floor below, leaving little scratch marks on the stone. She was tense now, all because Kimba had snuck a look in her bag.

All Because...

Yes, he'd snuck a look. All because.......

Curiosity didn't kill all cats. Some cats learned things. And though Kimba wasn't a cat, that bit of curious poking had taught him a few things. About Avira. Yes, some new things, but mostly... well, things he already knew. Or suspected. Doesn't every boyfriend want his girlfriend putting hearts and such else around his name? In a journal that most likely held other things? About him and her, and even just about her.

Yes, her. Kimba didn't need to do more than look at her... but her posture, her scent, her chi, told him she felt...

... well, he couldn't let her feel this way.

So, he sat beside her, on his own haunches, his tail curled around her...

... "You do remember what almost happened in the shower...?" He couldn't help a grin... "If we're a couple... a pair with a future together... with a dozen kits to raise..." Avira would most likely remember the dream he'd recalled for her, from last night... "we shouldn't keep secrets." He licked her nearest ear, gave it a gentle nibble... "You've already shared this with me." Kimba looked around, at all the crystal wonders...

... then snuggled closer.

Avira leaned against Kimba and gave the smallest of laughs when he nipped her ear, it was an affectionate gesture, and she appreciated it. She relaxed a bit when he spoke to her, and she did indeed recall the dream he'd told her about, she favored the idea of bearing a litter of kits for him, it was a nice thought. Maybe they shouldn't keep secrets, but she wasn't quite ready to share her journal with him just yet.

With a little huff she secured the clasp on her satchel and shook her head a bit, that crest off ur atop her head full of loose curls and vibrant mahogany color bouncing between her ears and down her neck. Then she looked down her muzzle at Kimba, and she stuck her tongue out at him before smiling sweetly and somehow twining her tail through in a spiral with his. Making sure to rub up against him affectionately and get her scent all over him.

"You're right, but I can't spill ALL my secrets just yet. Where's the fun in that?"

Fun In That...

Kimba very much liked being affectionate. Liked nibbling her ears. Liked having her rub her scent all over... loved having her tail entwined with his. His purr, his ruffled mane and body fur... the tingle in his nether regions...

... "You're right... where's the fun?"

He licked her on her nearest cheek, blew his breath in that nearest ear...

... "I accept the challenge..."

A glance down at her satchel, a good look about. An attempt to move, but he found it difficult to do so, given Avira had his tail locked up tight...

... "Do we continue our little road trip, or will we be spending the night here?" A glance over shoulder at their tails, a grin as his ears turned back and all four nostrils flared.......

Avira looked up through the canopy overhead. It was growing late. The sky was getting darker and the stars were beginning to come out, speckling the darkening sky in tiny specks of light. A pair of moons to rise as the sun set. Then she looked back at Limbs and gave a wry smile. Rubbcing her head underneath his and cuddling up against him. Content to sleep where they were.

"We can stay the night here. I'm tired anyway..."

She yawned wide and then snapped her maw shut, licking her nose a bit and then smiling at Kimba again. She felt a warmth in her chest, her heart throbbed giddily. She never thought the day would come when she would find that special someone. But it seemed shed found him anyway. Or maybe he had found her?

Stay The Night...

To be honest, they'd both found each other, through a confluence of events. Chance meeting at a public shower. But wasn't that pretty much how all couples met? By chance? Though "chance" could also be called "divine intent". Two souls, crossing in the night... or something of that sort.

Kimba also looked up. Rather surprised he'd forgotten all about lunch, not to mention how very quickly this day had passed, almost as if he'd spent half the day in a coma. Probably not far from the truth...

... though a coma induced by love.

Because, yes, he was in love. And not just that puppy kind. Partly, it was that "I want to father kits with you" desire. Because he'd discovered not just the spark within Avira, but within himself. That "spark" he'd never felt before. Never known, personally. Heard much about, but never experienced till... wow... and he hadn't even known her for two days, yet. But they'd bonded like they'd been together for years.

So yes, they would stay the night here.

With each other.

With what they'd each found in the other.

Kimba couldn't help yawning, himself. Even with Nism, yawns were contagious! Though he felt so juiced, so alive, he didn't think he'd be able to sleep. Avira, like a coffee pot. Only without the jitters. Though thinking about her and him and... well, it seemed he'd had too much to "drink"...

... "Ummm... Avira? I hate to ruin the moment, but I really have to pee......."

She looked at him funny for a moment, and then she started to snicker. And then it turned into a giggle, and soon she was downright laughing happily at the way he had almost come across like a kit. It was positively adorable. And she couldnt help but to laugh about it. She whapped him gently acorss his hindquarters with her tail and laughed a little more.
"Well go pee then."

Come to think of it ahe needed to pee too. So she traipsed off elegantly as ever into the woods to find somewhere a little more private to relieve herself. Regardless of how anyone else was she was a bit self conclscious about this sort of thing and liked to do it alone. So off she went, but she would re turn to the little pond with the small waterfall. There was no telling what wonders the night would bring.

What Wonders...

While Avira traipsed off elegantly, Kimba rushed off like an impatient kit. Not only because his bladder told him to, but, well...

... because he wanted to surprise her. So he rushed, relieved. And rushed back. Didn't even need to wash his hands.

Now, being a traveler, quite regularly so, he kept quite a stash of gear in his Threshhold pocket... in his private little corner of Hammerspace. All the gear one would need to camp out pretty much anywhere in the universe. Just in case he couldn't find a hotel. Or just wanted to "be with nature". Yes, even on the Nism homeworld, camping out in the woods still worked. Helped that "the woods" on said homeworld covered pretty much every temperate zone on the planet. Didn't have to go very far to bonk your head on a tree.

Ahhh, yes... Kimba.

Almost bonked his head on several trees in his rush, but once in the clear, he repeatedly leapt across Threshhold till he'd collected all his chosen gear. Then he got busy setting up everything... the tent... all the bedding... towels and other assorted, civilized necessities, all set and hung... torches, to give mood lighting. Even a small barbecue, along with a selection of meat and fruit and veggies, stashed in a cooler.

A very busy young male, set to impress the female of his dreams.......!

Avira took her time, and she got distractes with a little bunch of flowers on the way back and she made a flower crown... Or two for herself and Kimba. One was blue and purple, and the other was pink and orange. They were both composed of small fragrant blooms. She giggled a bit to herself at the idea of Kimba in a flower crown, but she carried them in her little satchel and pranced back to the clearing with the pond and waterfall. Then she stoped at the edge when she saw Kimba. She was a tad bit confused. So she dawdled over to him and poked the back of his head as he was turned around...

"Kimba. Sweetheart. What are you doing?"

She had a soft smile across her muzzle and a sweet look to her ruby red eyes. She looked around at all the interesting hullballoo he had done for her presumably. But she wouldnt make any assumptions. It was clear that whatever all this was, was amost done. And she was amused that he would go to such lengths to impress her.
