The Vesteran Empire seethed silently with discontent.

The Royal Family watched helplessly as control of their birthright slipped away between their fingers like grains of sand. Rebellion sparked across the Northern Provinces while the Lords of the South ruled as absolute sovereigns in all but name.

The Church of Ascension owned the people body and soul, isolating the Court to their lavish cages devoid of influence and power, playing them against each other like pieces on a broken board.

In such uneasy time people turned to myths and legends for the comfort of distraction. Rumours of living Saints walking mortal's paths burned wild through the field of commoner gossip, disregarded by many and abhorred by others of the faith, yet burned bright they did still, fueled by the wind of straining tension building inevitably toward a terrible finality.

The light of hope resided within those most unlikely.

Narantsetseg, the Sunflower. Always turning towards the light, pursuing truths and distant dreams.

Dakarai, Happiness in all things. Prosperity in life, in love, fulfilment and joy.

Her parents gave her everything she ever wanted. She left home at 17, broke but with a dream in her heart.

His father never returned from the second tour, mother never returned from the loss. He took care of her until her stroke when he was 17. He received a partial scholarship for a bachelor in medicine the following year.

She captured time in the strokes of her pen.

He broke himself carrying guilt, until he saved a life for the first time his third year of M.D.

She broke her heart and dream, dried her tears and started over.

He changed.

She changed.

Body is not only heart but boundless mind--shapeless, whimsical.

Time is not a river but a sky--trackless, deceiving.

They found one another adrift.

He anchored her in time.

She anchored him in body.

Two souls sharing the same space.

Bound. Fated.

Absolute contrast. Never should have been.

Like Ophelia torn between two lives.

Like Opium, slave to its greatest gifts.
