personality

Koa is, in all instances, an introvert. However, like all people, that one trait doesn't define her.
She is made up of many different traits, like us all, that create the person she is now. For better or worse, she is who she is.

Koa is an abstract thinker. She sees the world in art, like every person one piece of an even bigger puzzle. She's a romantic, where she hopes most things come to good conclusions, but she's smart enough to recognize the reality in most situations. She knows things don't work out how we want them to every single time, but she still wishes for the few occurrences that break off from the majority of events to work out the way we want them to.

She works better on her own, and gets really nervous in big groups. She's used to being alone, her only communication with the outside world through a computer or gaming console. She prefers silence, to the point where she can't even think when silence is absent. She's never been the girl that spends a lot of time with real, live humans. (She prefers the digitized realm over the living one.)
She is perfectly happy spending all her time on the computer and talking to friends.

Her real-life personality is worlds different than her online one. On her laptop, she's a lot more calm and less.. scared. She feels that it's so much easier to talk to someone online than in the real world.

She is, at times, a nervous wreck in the sense that talking to someone seems like jumping across a 50-foot wide canyon - impossible. Making friends is incredibly hard for her, so she tends to instinctively shy away from everyone. She is much more happier alone than in a group of people, but it doesn't always work out that way, sometimes for the better.

Koa believes that rules, in certain situations, can be broken. This might include helping an innocent person escape from wrongful imprisonment, stealing money from bad people and giving it back to the ones said people had wronged, or maybe even saving an injured animal from an abusive owner.

She has a bit of a problem, where she looks for trouble if it means she can make one person's life a bit better. She wants to fix the world, even though she knows she can't.

Koa avoids confrontation at all cost, unless she has no choice but to speak up. She prefers to listen quietly, rather than to challenge one's motives. She finds that often, you can learn a great deal more by listening than you can by putting yourself in the middle of it all.

Even though she's quiet and keeps away from conflicts, if she sees something wrong happening she's not one to turn a blind eye. She'll spend hours coming up with a way to right the situation, even if part of her knows she can't.

She has a bit of a control problem, in the sense that she likes to control the things around her. In her room, on her computer, she's in control. But in the street, or in a crowded building? She feels there's way too many variables and too many people to control the situation.

In the end, Koa just wants to help others. She can be brave, and funny, and a great listener, but her best quality is how she tries to do the right thing, even if she has to break the rules to get there. She never gives up, until she can fix the problem at hand.

physical

strengths
+ Imaginative; Koa loves using her imagination, there are just so many possibilities to so many different things. When she's not working on computer programs or binge-watching Supergirl, she'll be on scientific theory websites or talking with her other programmer friends. (Some of which have enlisted Koa's help in doing non law-friendly activities in the computer realm. But it was for a good reason, I swear!) When her sister was little, she used to come up with wild stories off the cuff. She loved the unpredictability of the mind, especially when she could make her sister's eyes light up with wonder.

+ Multi-tasker; She's often done several things at once, like playing with a fidget spinner while watching TV, baby-sitting her precocious cousin while cooking, or working on three different computer programs at relatively the same time.

+ Dedicated and Determined;

+ Reserved;

+ Passionate;

+ Challenge-driven;

+ Courageous; She has never been the first to step up, usually waiting for someone bolder and more outspoken and honestly.. stronger than her to take that place. But she has also never been someone who would shy away from problems just because she was scared, or because it was dangerous or hard. She is not a warrior, I doubt she'd even think about herself in that way. But when you're looking for someone who's going to have your back because she is an honestly true person?

That's her.

flaws
- Withdrawn and Anti-social; She doesn't like being around others, she's not used to it and doesn't know how to act around physical people. When she's in a group, usually she'll try to isolate herself and do the work herself. She's more comfortable with communicating through a computer screen than with an actual living person, to the point where she has mini-panic attacks with one to a few people and full-on panic attacks when she has to communicate with a group or more. Public speaking is her worst nightmare.

- Absent-minded and distracted; When she gets focused on a project, all of her attention goes into that project. She can spend hours or even a full day completely immersed in her work, so much so that the outside world fades away. Usually it would require outside intervention for her to stop so she could remember to eat and pay attention to her physical needs.

- Uncomfortable in social situations; She hasn't been forcefully put in a lot of situations that required her to physically talk to another human being. She has social skills, mainly from talking to other gamers and her friends online, but personally talking to someone is a mentally troubling action.

- Has trouble trusting others; She can't read people's intentions face to face,
as she hasn't spent enough time to learn how to pick up on signals and cues, so it's harder for her to trust or take someone's word that what they are saying is true.

skills
+ Good with computers and programming;

+ Loves and is good at gaming;

+ Gives good advice.. when she warms up to the person enough to talk to them;

+ She loves to dance;

+ Can do some engineering work, but is definitely not a master at it.; She knows enough to be able to take a car battery out of the car and hook it up to a light bulb, and at a different time switch the cold and hot-water connections on a Water heater as a prank. Didn't turn out as expected, and she was grounded for three months.

bad habits
- Frequent clumsiness;

- She gets panic attacks when around people she doesn't know or in crowds;

- Gets so involved in games/coding/netflix that she forgets about everything else, including eating and cleaning up;

- Playing a part in hacking government firewalls; More than once she's helped some of her 'hacktivist' friends to complete programs that would later be used to break through the firewall of a government server that held information on corrupt politicians.

- ADHD; Her mind is constantly going, if she doesn't have something to occupy it, she ends up doing anything to ebb the boredome. That is how she broke her parent's car when she was 14, trying to see how much voltage could make a lightbulb pop. Turns out a car battery is way TOO MUCH.

powers

Powers

Healing;
Koa has the ability of regenerative healing, where her cells reproduce at a rate faster than any normal human, giving her the ability to rapidly regenerate damaged tissue, broken bones, and many types of wounds.

Wound Transferral; Koa also has the ability to transfer wounds of another onto herself, from which she can then heal. With this, however, she can completely bypass herself and transfer a wound from one onto another person through touch. However, depending if this was a fatal wound or not, she could very possibly kill someone. (Although she wouldn't set out to do that.)

Limits
- She must and can only transfer wounds through touch, either by touching the wound itself or any skin-to-skin contact with said person. Touching another person soon after touching the injured one can transfer the wound to the second person, although this can harm the second person as that person is most likely not like Koa, in being able to take injuries without being killed.

- She must eat a lot more than any regular human, and she also needs more sleep than an average human as well in order to regenerate the energy she loses through healing herself and taking injuries from others.

- She cannot resurrect someone, in taking their injuries after they have died. Her powers strictly require a living person, even though they might be very close to death. In trying to take someone's injuries after death, she could very well kill herself in the process.

- From the time she has gotten her powers, she has only used them once, on a woman she met after the move the Millennium City. She is very inexperienced in the fact that she has no idea how they work or really.. even what she is. She hasn't tried experimenting yet, but maybe with a teacher.. she could grow and come to terms with her newfound power.

- If in the case where a bone is broken, whether hers or a wound she's taken on, the break must be set correctly before healing begins, otherwise it will have to be broken again and set or else it will not heal right.

Breaking points
- She is not indestructible nor invincible, and can be killed by a gunshot wound to her head or heart if the trauma is severe enough that she cannot regenerate.

- If she takes the wounds from more than two people per day, she is pushing herself beyond her limits and could collapse or go into seizure from the stress on her body it takes to heal from fatal or traumatizing wounds. If she tries to heal more than that, she puts herself at risk for her body shutting down.

- She uses up her energy a lot faster than most people, and therefore cannot go very long without sleep or food to keep her energy up. She will not be able to go more than a few days without food before her body starts to shut down on itself to conserve energy.

biography

In some stories, the scene begins with a protagonist that has it all. Someone who has lived their life in complete happiness; or possibly ignorance. Like many, Koa longed to be one of those people. A child who didn't have to watch their mother struggle to pay the bills, or watch their father slowly become more and more involved in work and less available at home. But as Koa later learned in life, the happiest people weren't the ones who had it all. They were the ones whom had each other.

Life wasn't exceptionally hard for Koa, growing up. Like any other family, hers had difficulty, but she was loved. Her mom was always there for Koa and her sister, Maia, despite working the night shift in an emergency room. Her dad was a homicide detective with the MCPD, which sometimes could mean that he'd get home late and wouldn't be able to tuck his daughters in for a few nights in a row. But her family was tough, and no matter how many late nights it took, her parents always found a way to be together. To keep their family together.

It was nice. Koa had a great life growing up. She was good at school, quiet, usually sitting at the back of the class. The only times she was really outgoing was dying her hair or talking with her friends online. She'd always been the quiet, shy kid that didn't talk much, and it wasn't until high-school that she really broke out of her shell. At least, online.

She got involved in computer sciences and the AV club at around fourteen. It was the place she met her best friend, Nate. It was how she got more and more comfortable talking and having fun over the computer rather than in person. About six months later she started getting interested in programming. Nate was a natural, so he decided to show her the ropes. Six months after that she was immersed in programs, code and her computer. Her parents were concerned, but they also knew that she was happier there than being forced to be part of the 'outside world', as they called it. She was a natural, and getting better every day. Nate and her later joined a group for programmers, and they advanced their skills as the years went by.

When Koa turned sixteen, her parents decided to move to New york, where Koa's mother was from. Her parents had talked about it and they wanted to be with their kids more, rather than see them less and less in passing. So there they moved. Koa said good-bye to Nate, and they moved from the scenic Aspen, Colorado to Millennium city, New york. Koa's mom got a job as a in-home nurse, and her dad chose to work as a Private Investigator. Everything was good, as they were settling into their home. Koa got more involved in gaming, (which her sister totally took over, by the way), and spent more time out of school at the Library, from which she met a sweet older lady named Ella. Ella, other than Nate, was the only person outside of her family that had gotten Koa to completely open up. She liked her, Ella was nice and sweet and relatable, and even though she didn't know a whole lot about computers, she knew a bunch about books. Weekly recommendations kept Koa on her toes as Ella and her discussed characters and ethical issues that appeared in a lot of the literature Koa picked up. It was interesting, for her, to dive into a world not online and be able to be taken away to a far-away place, a paradise island or possibly a secret bunker where secrets unfolded.

Koa was at the Library the day the meteor shower came. At the same time, Ella had been walking home alone when she had gotten jumped by a mugger. She hadn't been very far from the Library when Koa heard someone scream. She dropped what she had been doing and ran outside, searching for the sound when it came again. She ran towards the sound and found Ella in an alleyway, hands pressed to her stomach, blood dripping from those hands. Koa had let out a strangled scream, like someone had ripped away her voice at the last second. Running over to her, she put her hands on top of Ella's. She had no idea what to do, but she couldn't just do nothing. She wanted to help, she wanted to fix her more than anything. But she had no way to. The blood was coming too fast, and Koa had not a thought on what to do. But by then she didn't have to. Suddenly screaming, Koa fell onto the alley as she felt something hot and sticky touch the skin of her abdomen. She looked down at herself to notice a dark red spot growing against her shirt. Adrenaline soared into her veins, making her heartbeat quicken. She felt faint, dizzy, like suddenly sitting up after lying down for a long time. But then the pain was gone, and Ella was sitting up. "What.. What did you do?" Ella had asked, gingerly touching Koa's stomach. Koa shook her head, pulling up her shirt to reveal no mark, no wound left to find, the only remnant left the blood stain on her stark white shirt.

Finally finally finally finally I can post my charrie.
I apologize for the lateness, I was having code troubles and internet troubles.

I hope everyone is having a good week!

general data

Full Name: Austin Sorenson

Age: 20

Sex: Male

Date of Birth: March 26th, 1997

Height: | Weight: 5'11, 168 lbs.

Hair Color|Style|Length: Austin's hair is a mangled mess of auburn curls that stylistically emulate a helmet-head aesthetic. Though he washes and condishions his hair regularly, he's not the sort to really care much either about how it looks, or about how it's styled. The curled fringes detract some from the length, but at maximum length, the hair on his head travels as far as the nape of his neck, over his ears, and beyond his eyebrows.

Written Appearance:

In terms of clothing, Austin is what one might call a hoodie connoisseur: he has an impressive repetoir of stylish hoodies in his belongings, and enjoys the comfort and ease for which they provide. He has no preference for pants nor shoes, and will wear any combinaiton of sneakers, shorts, or jeans he can find or afford. He also adorns a small copper watch on his right wrist, which is the only piece of moderately flashy equipment he owns.

Arguably the most striking elements of his physical appearance exist in his visage: Austin's irises are a cloudy grey, though he always preferred to imagine they were green. They do often catch the attention of others, however, and undoubtedly add a rare pop to an otherwise unremarkable featureset. Unlike his sharp eyes, the boy's smile is disarmingly goofy: its just a bit crooked to the right side, and often is described conservatively as a toothy grin.

Though he wouldn't consider himself particularly self-conscious, Austin rarely shows his teeth when he smiles and this is especially obvious when he's been photographed. Given his lackadaisical attitude towards self-grooming, Austin will gladly forgo haircuts for three to four months at a time, and will only sit in a barber's chair under extreme duress. Nonetheless, with the exception of basic cleaning tools, he makes no extreme effort to change up the same hair-style he's had since he was twelve. Hell, he barely brushes the thing.

His skin is a tanned peach color, and though its relatively smooth, some parts of his skin are more dense and calloused than others. There is little else about his body that would be considered an abnormality. However, the most intimate and perceptive of associates would notice a set of faded, inch-length cuts along his fingertips, and one peculiar scar cut just beneath his left shoulder.

personality
Though he spends a fair deal of his free time alone, Austin has never really been a fan of introspection. When asked to describe his personality to others, he usually makes up some run-of-the-mill, flippant response about being a decent person, reliable friend, and normal guy. Truthfully, he isn't far off. There is a strength to not being as ostentatious as the movers and shakers, and yet more charismatic than the wallflowers. He makes friends easily enough, but is rarely the first to initiate a conversation and is far more comfortable being addressed and led by others than he is being the one to take initiative. After all, it's easy to not be disappointed when your goals really aren't ever yours to begin with.

In some ways, Austin's steadfast service to others is both a boon and a curse. Anyone would be remiss to call him selfish, and often even total strangers can elicit his trust--or at the very least his assistance. The drawback to his unyielding desire to be of use to his friends is, of course, that Austin never truly grasps for anything of his own. That's not to say he doesn't have his own dreams--he has many, in fact--but you wouldn't know it unless you forced him to speak about it.

In fact, Austin is so malleable that he was once described as the vanilla ice-cream of people: he's universally palatable, but can be colored and flavored in a hundred different ways to meet the needs of whomever he is trying to impress. After all, the only thing he truly resents--and fears even--is the prison of isolation, and he'd do anything to prove himself worthy of companionship to that end alone. He’s neither the bravest, funniest, nor prettiest, but if there was one trait above all that breaks the submissive mold of his personality from time to time, it would be his will. When Austin makes up his mind to pursue something (which, admittedly, is rare) there are few obstacles he lets get in his way. In fact, more than a few friends have voiced their surprise at how uncharacteristically driven he becomes the moment they see him truly go after something.
biography

Calling Austin’s childhood unorthodox is a terrible understatement. Born as the single son of two perpetually-busy travel agents, the boy lived in more exotic locales in the first five years of his life than many people visit in their entire lifetime. Nonetheless, his parents believed in a strong education for their boy, and would enroll him in the best schooling they could afford at every stop. In the beginning, a young Austin grappled with the drawbacks of an antsy lifestyle, but in time travel made him independent.

Though proud of their son, the two Sorensons suffered through a mounting dread which was only compounded in the boy’s teen years when he began to question the frequency with which they often uprooted their lives. Their profession lent itself to a transient lifestyle, but even they pushed that boundary and their son had figured as much out on his own. Thankfully, their busy lifestyle never really seemed to bother the boy, and for that they were grateful. At fourteen, he was sent away to a boarding school on the East Coast to continue his education—an idea he proposed himself to which his parents readily encouraged. Austin had found a passion for travel not unlike his parents, but the busy and fleeting nature of his home life had made him ambitious for relationships outside of his family sphere that he could maintain for once.

His schooling abroad had begun well enough. Freedom was tempered with responsibility, but friendships were fast and—for the first time—tenured for as long as he was enrolled. These were easily the best times of his life, and it was here that Austin broke through his unintentional predisposition to write off relationships with strangers as temporary and useless things. In fact, Austin--who had always been a good student--quickly found that he was excelling in his coursework in a way he hadn't been previously. Where before he would work alone, he was now able to bounce ideas and research off of his peers and fellows. Moreover, he had transitioned from something of a sedentary lifestyle to a healthier, more active one as well through a combination of leisurely exploration and a mild dabbling in various after-school sports and activities.

In particular, Austin had become a fan of hiking. Luckily for him, the small Connecticution town where his school existed encapsulated many areas abundant with undeveloped forests, hidden creeks, and wide fields. Austin's only real after-school commitment quickly became the hiking club as he grew more and more enamored with the wild spaces he couldn't find back home.

At the end of his senior year, Austin decided to return home and delay his pursuit of a college education to instead take a leap year of his own. It was his plan to leave home just a little ways after his graduation so that he might travel to those rare parts of the world the Sorensons hadn't yet taken him to, and his dream to one day become something of a renowned explorer himself.

powers
Austin has developed the power of typhokinesis. More simply put, Austin possesses the ability to shape, alter, and move smoke to his whim. Though he can perform his abilities on smoke in the natural world, he is not limited to those resources, and can generate his own from the altered state of his dermis layer. In this case though, the particulate matter is not ash, soot or tar but rather an organic compound released from the surface of his skin. In terms of alteration, he's incapable of fundamentally changing the chemical composition of any smoke he finds, but he can focus his abilities to a point so as to rapidly increase the density of smoke particulate in a localized range. Naturally, he can perform the inverse and expand and disseminate it as well.

Strengths:

There is a sly strength to Austin's talents. It's not an aggressive power to be sure, but his abilities are often most advantageous when used as a means of escape. The sudden appearance of a rolling smoke cloud where there would otherwise be none isn't discrete, but it is helpful in obscuring outside vision on large surface areas.

As it stands, Austin can really only move and shape whatever volume he finds or creates, but if he really needs some offensive capability, he can temporarily delay or (if he's facing a particularly unlucky asthmatic) incapacitate pursuers by inducing targeted coughing fits. In time, Austin plans to continue training himself to be more effective with targeted smoke bursts as opposed to wide-sweeping, spray-and-pray tactics.

Weaknesses:

It is, after all, smoke. Austin has no means--and never will have the means--to alter its formless state. It is and always will be a gaseous mass of airborne solids and liquids no matter what Austin may desire. Though he can increase the density of the particulate in a cloud smoke, it would require far too fine a concentration (and far too long an experiment) to even produce a pin-prick of adhered, solid mass. Anyone within striking range of Austin will find him a rather easy target to hit.

Though he suffers less when utilizing already-present material, Austin's ability to produce his own material is limited. The matter that makes up his own's smoke's particulate comes from beneath his epidermus, and is a byproduct of the powers he received. Through a rapid reaction not dissimilar to pyrolysis, he emits this matter among other byproducts, and is limited in the volume that he can personally create as a result. Like a battery, Austin needs time and rest to replenish the decomposed material in earnest. To attempt this process without the necessary recuperation would do nothing but provide him with an uncomfortably hot feeling beneath his skin.

Even when manipulating smoke in the environment, Austin will still suffer fatigue from overuse like any other ability of the mind. The greater the volume he tries to control, the harder it is to maintain any level of control. Once he reaches his breaking point in this regard, he doesn't simply fail to control whatever he is focused upon, but in fact he will lose all control of any controlled volume until he's taken a long rest.

I didn't think mine was that edgy. Becky likes metal and is kind of an asshole, that's it. :L
