Grady Murtaugh aka Korvus

In the days that followed the now somewhat infamous trip to Atlantic city, things seemed to settle down. A job and training was offered to Meg along was housing. For participation, a generous consultant's fee was extended to Harvey and Harley. For legal purposes, Grady did not act as Vigilante, but contracted private casino security. He will introduce evidence with help from Harvey hopefully, that Arcade had culpability in the breakout at Arkham prior to Atlantic City. Whatever the case, he hires a "Family" attorney, known for his ability and integrity to defend against anything Arcade might try legally.

Grady does his best to include all of "his" people, which now include Harvey, Harley, Lilly, Meg and Lincoln in any of his plans.

For Harvey specifically, The detective has access to special cutting edge security equipment, new non lethal weapons, and various Tech. He is.... contracted to test such equipment.

For Harley, and investment loan, should she need it to help fix up the Coney island amusement park.

For Lincoln, upgraded medical training, continued housing.

For Meg, schooling, training and housing.

For Lilly, also access to advanced gear with contractual agreement to test and comment.

She had been reluctant to take the loan but Knew she had no choice as her protracted bidding war with Wayne had annihilated her investment portfolio. She hugged a small dog to her chest as she watched workers rebuilding a section of the neglected park. Every time she heard her phone ring she waited for her marker to be called in...it wasn't unlike the fear she felt while waiting when the old man was in one of his moods.

Not long after they got settled in back at Gotham, Meg came to Grady. "I really appreciate all you are doing for me. I have no idea how I'm going to repay you for it all." She shook her head and shrugged. "I went from being an experiment to... Well whatever it is I am now. I've got half a life in my head, and trying to get one of my own... I'm just a little bit confused."

{ Grady }"I wont say I understand, I will say that I appreciate the difficulties you face. I have the means and ability to help, so I help. Just try to take things one day at a time. You can and will be your own person"

{ Meg }"It's just so surreal. I thought about looking up... Her. My... Mom I guess? But I realize that my memory is so patchy that I have no idea where she might be. What do you think? Is that a good idea or should I just let it go?" Meg continued, standing and going to the window. "I mean, she'd be the closest thing to family I might have, but she probably didn't willingly contribute to my creation. What if she thinks I'm some kind of monster?"

{ Grady } "What do you know about her ? We can compare notes "

{ Meg } "She got her powers in an accident... She wasn't always on the 'good guys' side, and she went by the name 'Live Wire'. I swear I used to know her name, but a lot of things went more fuzzy after Lincoln and I did our Mind Meld thing..." She turned to face Grady. "And of course she looks a hell of a lot like me."

{ Grady } "I believe she started on the west coast tangling with someone called Supergirl. I think she would be upset"
" I think it would be wise to lay low for now, concentrate on learning who you are !"

{ Meg } "Supergirl." Meg staggered back a step and clutched at the window sill. "Shit. That brought back a memory of my- uh her origin. She really had a mad on for her. I wouldn't! She saved her life... I'm sure the whole... Living electricity thing wasn't intentional." She stood back up, and for a moment the power in the house flickered. "Sorry. Intense emotions still cause me to lose my control for a sec. My mom's a supervillain. Spectacular."

{ Grady }" Rumor has it she currently works for someone powerful. They, Arcade and Riddler had her restrained at Arkham recently

{ Meg } "That... I think that's where I was... Uh born. At Arkham that is. " She paced for a bit. "I think I have a name... Dr. Karl Malus. That mean anything to you?"

{ Grady } " Not Yet, but that creates some possible answers though "

{ Meg }"I'm a real mess. I really want to thank you again for the help." She went to a nearby chair and sat down

{ Grady }" Remember, one step at a time "

{ Meg } "She was a reporter, you know. I probably inherited the curiosity and stubbornness." She cupped her head in her hands. "I just want to be me. But there's more her and Lincoln in my head right now."

{ Grady } " Two things occur to me, first Hugo Strange and Karl Malus have some things to answer for. Second, you and Lincoln should have a long talk"

{ Meg }"Hugo... Doesn't ring a bell, he's an associate of Malus?" She shrugged, wiping her eyes. "I better be careful I might short myself out." Meg teased. "But yeah I guess I need to talk to Lincoln."

{ Grady }" Can you type ?"

{ Meg } "Apparently. Both on my smartphone and a laptop that was at IT'SUGAR." Meg replied

{ Grady } " I just transferred Lilly to field work, So I have an opening in Customer service "

{ Meg } "It's what I was doing there, for a few weeks... Of course a candy store and what you do are completely different animals."

{ Grady } " Mine will be more typing up orders and answering the phones."

{ Meg } "It beats being the trigger to a supervillain's bomb any day."

{ Grady } (( laughs )) " I think we'll set up a practice room for you and Lincoln, practice your electrical work!"

{ Meg } "Thanks, Grady." She walked up to him and gave him a hug. One that left the hair on his arms standing on end. "I'm gonna try to get some rest."

{ Grady }" A fine idea Meg" ( as he is walking away ) "Glory be, all the water in the world and not a damned drop to drink !"

Harvey sat at his new desk in the detectives bullpen, silently staring at the blood stain they never were able to remove from the carpet. The other dectectives tried to look busy to avoid talking to him. Harvey didn't blame them, about a month ago they called him boss. Then he snapped and nearly beat a dirty cop to death with is bare hands, the same dirty cop who used the desk Harvey is now assigned.Atlantic city's escapades helped fixe some of the problems of him coming back, but he still could feel the others keeping their distance.

He broke from his self refelecting trance and looked to the stack of case files concerning falcon. Time to fix this he thought, till he did he would be living under falcon's shadow.

Before he could start he felt he had to tell someone, rather a group of someones. This was gotham and there was rules to this sort of thing. Past the psychopaths and gangsters there was a group that was one you never messed with. They ran the city since it was built, hell it was built on their money. This court watched everything going on in the city, Harvey hoped falcon's actions marked him open game.

Harvey walked out for a smoke break, he was trying to quit but stress from the job made it so hard. Taking out his phone he called a number given to him when he got to sit in the big office down the hall. He hoped it still worked, lord knows it could have been shut down along time ago. It started ringing to his relief .

Some where in a elegant hall a older butler picked up the phone and slowly carried down the hall to a women in her 50's. She thanked the man and when he cleared listening distance she picked up the receiver and said hello. Her voice had an older dignified tone to it, marking her as a member of the upper class.

"I was told to call this number if it was nessacary" Harvey tried to pick his words carefully. "You know who I am and who I'm going to go after. Perhaps I'm just to blame for this mess, but so is falcon. I've paid for my part, I'm going to make him pay for his. This is going to be a bit of a mess when I'm done, sorry about that. I'm going to do this with or without your blessing, just felt like I owed you people a heads up".

She listened to harvey silently taking in what he said. Finally after what seemed like an eternity she spoke. "Happy hunting detective" she said and hung up the phone. She smiled, "seems telling the mayor to keep him on the force was a good idea". The butler returned "do you still require the phone?" She handed him the phone "no you may put it back". She then leaned back in her chair, lost in her thoughts.

Harvey smiled knowing they were on board and returned to his desk forgetting to even smoke a cigarette. There was work to do.

Back at the television station, where Dr. Pamela Iseley and weather man Phil, were being confronted by Joker. One of the Joker's minions, Bob, his number one guy, grabbed one of the cameras and started to film.

d647439ef1c00ad9492ef6c5acacec9a.jpg

The mime / clown goons started to spread out menacing people with guns.

" Well... Phil... You aren't as smart as I thought you should be ( he laughs a bit ) Doctor Isely must already have her thorns in you. ( laughs again ). Boys... time for masks ! There is a lot of rather insane laughter now as gas bombs go off throughout this area of the station."

Joker now approaches the camera.

" People of Gotham... I intend to clean out your television, starting with Channel five. Heeheeeheee, there will be a hot time in the old town tonight."

With that the camera cuts out, leaving only a blank screen where there once was life.

Sadly for Joker, when he turns back to look for Doctor Pamela Isely and the weather dope... both are gone.

" Damnit Bob... the girl got away ! "

Meanwhile back at GCPD, one of the guys in the break room runs out to find Harvey...

" Harvey... we got problems... "

In New York, an anonymous sender has sent a video to Harley's phone. {{ see above }}

@Sonevar @Drixe @LuckycoolHawk9

Anonymous sender...

That was the thing of it. She almost felt bad, bringing Harvey into this. He'd gotten into a fight with a robot in Atlantic City where the worst monster she faced was Mariah Dillard's horrible attitude. But, she knew she couldn't bring them in herself. Joker had too many goons on site - too big a possibility of civilian casualties.

But, she could arrange for certain lights to go out at the right times, and for everyone to somehow lose track of Isley and whomever this Phil guy was. Poor guy was the target of... I guess it was the Joker. It had gotten complicated a few years back. It seems there were several Jokers now...

Stephanie shook her head, and looked around, trying to see where Phil and Isley went.
"Can't have gotten far... I have to tail them until we can get some kind of help. And once again, young Stephanie gets into a situation far over her head. Will she ever learn? Tune in next week..."

As she swung along from rooftop to rooftop, she also sent out a quick text to the others that were on the group text list from Atlantic City: Lincoln, Lilly, Harvey, Grady, Harley. "Following someone that The Joker is after. If any of you aren't busy, the more the merrier. Oh, and Harvey, watch the video first."

@Gands @LuckycoolHawk9 @Sonevar @Drixe @York

Harvey shakes his head, " god damn it i just got ready for... nevermind ". He puts the file in his hand back on the pile. " falcon I'll get to you yet", Harvey stands up and says " call swat people" . He shakes his head ands heads to the staging area for swat. "Might as well ride along" he says as he heads there taking only enough time the get an autoshotgun from the armory.

After seeing the news cast (yes she kept tabs on Gotham news) she bolted out of her seat spilling the dog off of her lap, who in turn fog-horned loudly at her. She accessed a secret area of the recently completed fun-house by feeding the automated fortuneteller a special coin that she immediately retrieved. Slipping behind the secret panel that swung open behind the fortuneteller she entered her workshop. Taking her newly reinforced suits off of the rack, she looked around the room for any of her finished projects. She loaded what loosely resembled a tactical harness and her three outfits' concealed pockets with both tested and untested gadgets: The Telescoping Slegehammer, The Combat Yoyo, The gas dispersing Whoopi cushion, the Gingle-bell flashbangs, The Lady's Warfan, The Foggy Whistle and other wonderfully awful ideas. Passing by the mirror, geared for a lot more than "bear" she said in The Harlequin's sultry starlet voice "Batman... Eat your heart out". Then in Babydoll voice as she began packing the rest of her kit, "No really, eat yer heart out 'cause it'd save me a lot of trouble and mess...". Then she loaded Foggy into his bullet proof dog carrier and headed for her car.

She didn't know who this Joker was, but he wasn't "the old man" over the decade she had spent with "him", she had overheard snatches about there being others... heck SHE was an "other" so maybe this guy was one of the three body's that the mind of the Joker shared... I mean she was one body that three Harley's shared so it made perfect sense. She had to get to Miss Pam NOW!

Of all her tutors, Miss Pam had been the nicest to her. Miss Pam always told her that she had wanted kids and so she doted on Harley despite the old man's instructions. If Miss Pam was in trouble Harley would swing in to the rescue...the bats was too slow anyway.

She kept her paneled Electric fueled dune buggy (Youtube was her friend) off road as much as possible for both speed and shortcuts, with Foggy strapped in the passenger seat honking his displeasure all the way. When the text from Anonymous came in she had to stab at the air a few times to hit the call button on the bouncing phone hanging from the bungee strap, but finally the call connected.

Babydoll "Hello Mr. Grady (loud fog horn) yeah I saw the news feed (louder fog horn) I'm already on our way (fog horn) byeeeee!"

Phil Wells/ Moment Man

Phil wasn't about to dignify the man with a response on the latter, but he was going to punch him. However, before he could do anything stupid, he noticed that Pamela was dragging him away. Was she trying to protect him or was it something else? He had a nagging feeling that by trying to protect her, he was getting closer to causing his vision. Now that was true and blue irony. Though he wasn't near the joker, the lightning in his eyes remained, kind of like something was going to happen. God, he was just so angry and felt so sad and angry.... for being so stupid. It started to rain and he cursed, the spark was also gone. That wasn't good.

Lincoln Campbell

Lincoln paused as he got the text as he had the news on and he paused the TV. What was up with the guy's eyes and the weird lighting on them? He hoped that wasn't something he would have to worry about. ' I'll be joining you' he texted back. He wasn't busy after all.

Grady Murtaugh aka Korvus

Grady receiving messages regarding the situation at the TV station, he headed to a new spiffy motorcycle that he kept hidden in a house two doors down and raced off towards Lincoln's place. Then, the local GBC broadcast station.

He sent a text to his friends from the Atlantic City adventure.
(( On my way, picking up Lincoln ))

At the station

Dr. Pamela Isely had dragged Phil into a staircase and wrapped a cloth around his face.
Not long after, one of the Joker's goons rushed into the stairwell. She set Phil down and put her hands innocently up.

The goon knew she was special, that the boss had his eyes on her.

" You're coming with me Doc ! "
He aimed his gun at her and stepped away from in front of the door, motioning with his gun at her. She moved slowly towards the door, suddenly moving inside the goons' gun and kissing him. In moments he was stunned, and collapsed.

"That should buy us a few moments Phil ! "

Meanwhile, Commissioner Gordon sends a text to Harvey...

{{ Harvey, get down to GCBC channel 5 and handle that situation as our new Meta Human department liaison }}

Back in New York, Harley can see a large unmarked Jet flying down in front of her and lowering the back bay door.

From the rooftops of Gotham, Stephanie has spotted a couple of concerned citizens on a roof overlooking the TV station.

"Spectacular. Knife fetish man and baby Penguin are on the scene. Well, I haven't had a good dose of pain in at least a week, so here goes..." Stephanie triggered the rarely used Spoiler tech in her outfit, rendering her invisible, and quickly headed to the building the pair were perched on, endeavoring to come up behind them.

She flung one of her Heronblades (formerly Batarangs, makeover courtesy of Norrin Radd) to land squarely between Szazz and Cobblepot, decloaking and standing at the ready nearby. "You know, TV works better when you just turn it on, Cobblepot. You don't have to use binoculars to look into the TV station to watch it." Of course, hopefully unbeknownst to the duo, the Heronblade had a payload of tranquilizer gas. One she could release with a tap of a button on her wristband. Also, when she spoke, she left the communication link between her and Corvus open, so he'd know what was up.

The final confrontation between the Bat and the Grandmaster had sent the latter to Blackgate. But though he possessed the abilities to escape, like the freaks that littered this place...He did not. Instead, he quietly meditated in his cell even as the various factions from Mistress Karai to Tiger Claw battled it out for the right to rule the Foot. He could not understand it and eventually, paid for a ticket to Gotham City, to do a deed he would not have dared before the Paradise incident.

To confront the former grandmaster and ask him directly. Before his cell, Adrian kept himself bowed. His eyes remained to the floor, his arms locked at his sides through force of habit and discipline. He had been in that position for an hour now, and he would remain that way till the master said otherwise. Finally, he heard a noise he almost was sure he imagined as he risked a look upward.

Oroku Saki was laughing quietly. Clad in the orange vestments of Blackgate, shorn of his armor and fine suits, there was still no mistaking him for anyone but the Master. Power, he wore like a cloak and the confines of his cell only seemed to accent that. Even reduced to this, he was proud and uncowed. In one corner of the room, a wooden dummy of the sort used by Wing Chun practioners rested, next to a desk with letters. These were neatly stacked, set aside in favor of a calligraphy set in which the Kanji for maelstrom was being painted.

Oroku Saki finally spoke.

"The survivor. The one who killed the beast himself, avenging his brothers. What brings you to me, servant?"

Adrian hesitated, his expression troubled before he took the plunge.

"...Master. Why do you not return? The Clan desires strong leadership. Currently, it lies fractured between three. Each one, warring upon the other. If you were to come back to New York or even to send a message-."

"-And what message would that be? That scarcely little time had passed, since I was required to hold their hand? That all my work had collapsed between those who should know better? No...The Clan has been strong, but it was the strength of ants. The removal of the hives leader reduced the workers to chaos."

His eyes arrested Adrian, the fevor in them restrained, but fiery yet as he said softly.

"That is not the Clan I worked for. But what is it to you?"

Adrian blinked. The Shredder smirked.

"You are a soldier without a cause, a warrior without direction. What will you do, in the wake of this madness?"

Grid was silent, tongue-tied as Oroku Saki returned to his meditation as he said in a whisper.

"How will you best serve the Foot, as it is now?"

He contemplated those words later in a bar. All this way and the Master would not come, nor even deign to lift a finger to stop the fights. Instead, he had merely imparted disquieting words that sent the genin into a brooding silence. He stared into his drink, having ordered it two hours past, before glancing into the mirror behind the bar.

The scars in which he earned his street name and reputation loomed back at him, the grid-pattern presenting memories of that fight. Harlem, in the Paradise of the Cottonmouth. And the creature that slew his three brothers-in-arms before pinning him to a wall. 'Warrior', the Shredder had called him. He had doctored his wounds himself, glorifying his survival.

The scars had been merely an added spur to hunt the beast, and among the others his reputation had grown. Was it all for naught? His loyalty and service, rendered as nothing in the end? No....Perhaps not. What was the Foot to him? He closed his eyes and considered quietly. In the background, the sounds of a ruckus could be heard as per the norm in this city. He got up to leave, wanting no part of a bar brawl as he snagged his bikers helmet.

He paused at the sound of a feminine scream.

He glanced over his shoulder.

A woman. A hooker. Obviously a hooker. She seemed to be trying to escape a group of thugs. What did he care? She should get a new line of work, if this was what she had to look forward to. He turned once more to leave.

His traitor body remained. He frowned. There was something lingering in his mind. A hazy idea of what the master had tried to impart. What was the Foot Clan? Power? Prestige? Yes, both of those things. But above all, one more...

Protection.

He turned around.

The first sign of something going wrong for this particular biker gang was the sudden slam of a thrown helmet with enough force to break his nose. Adrien wasn't a hero. He was not a costumed vigilante. He had no sinister backstory nor deep motivation to do what he did. He didn't banter, nor did he quip or exchange any sort of words with his opponents. He was a genin of the Foot Clan.

He simply went to work.

In the split-second shock of the helmet smashing, Grid launched a metal coaster into the light switch. Darkness fell and the gang howled, launching blindly into one another at an enemy they knew struck without warning.

Grid calmly escorted the woman to the door, then returned back into the darkness.

When he returned with his helmet, he dismissed her thanks entirely and drove off. And despite himself, he chuckled. That had felt...Good. Moreover, it had felt right. It was the first time in a while since he felt like a true member of the Foot Clan. He'd almost forgotten. In his bliss, he almost missed the S.W.A.T. car driving past. He hesitated and finally, turned to follow at a distance.

Night was young. No reason he couldn't check it out.

Meanwhile....

Dr. Pamela Isely had pulled Phil into a stairwell, from there up a couple of floors and into a closet. They were in an office area, well appointed.

" Sweetheart, it would grieve me if this Joker character harmed you. I'm going to see what I can do to help put an end to it. Stay here and out of trouble please !"

She kisses him, while it doesn't kill him like it does most men, it leaves him bewildered for a few moments while she moves away.

Korvus comes by quickly to pick up Lincoln. " Need a ride ? Joker's doing a gig at a TV station ! "

Korvus and Sparks ( aka Lincoln, assuming his joins Grady) riding the motorcycle at breakneck speed to the station, Racing past where Grid had been emerging and arriving roughly at the same time and place where Harvey and his men are getting out of the new and specially equipped van. ( Grid will notice Korvus in green and black leatherish looking armor. This of it as very similar to what Daredevil wears on the Netflix tv version. )

" Can we be of any assistance sir ? "

In the large Jet, Harley could see the woman more closely now, dark hair and red & black armor, of course with a gadget belt. Further in, sitting near a door that led further into the jet was a tall muscular man, also with Dark Hair, wearing some sort of armored outfit, rather dark with a little X on his belt buckle. He is wearing two knives. She is talking into a radio or cell phone gadget in her ear.

" Head for Gotham, full stealth and at top speed. "
Then she looks over at Harley.

" I thought you might need a lift. When you are finished, I would like very much to talk to you. Fair enough ? Also, you could help us figure out where to put you exactly in Gotham ! "

On the rooftop...

Neither of the two men notice Stephanie until she speaks. Victor Z reacts very calmly, not turning quickly. Baby Penguin makes a weird eepish noise and swats at the small metal thing flying near him with a fancy looking cane, almost on instinct, sending it out over the alley.

He works to calm himself, then speaks.

" It's not nice to sneak up on people you know ! Are you here to stop that crazy Joker ? "

Victor says nothing, eyeing Stephanie, both hands on the hilts of his favorite knives, remembering a fight he once had with her.

"Something like that. Mostly trying to see if you and Emo Dexter are working with him." Steph managed, cursing her luck at her hole card being accidentally launched into the alley. She watched Penguin's face carefully. While he was a class-one-toadie, he might well buckle a bit under pressure. Not that she was ignoring Szazz. Last time they tangled it was messy for both of them. This time she had her Sansetsukon with her, which would give her reach on the knife-wielding maniac if it came down to it. Steph rattled on, buying time for anyone to close in on the scene. She wasn't sure what she dreaded more, the blades of the assassin or the lawsuit and bad PR Cobblepot could throw at her.

Harvey turns to look at korvus and sighs " maybe, give me a second would you." He takes his police radio and opens the main channel. "This detective bulluck I'm the newly appointed meta human relations something or other. If your even thinking of doing anything with the news station.... just talk to me first." He knew they all were listening to the channel, why bither playing games. He turns to korvus as the swat team move into position and says " this job gets weirder by the day."

The costumed vigilantes. Of course. He parked the bike and stared for a moment before he spoke, deliberately changing his normal mode of speech.

"Oh shit, are you Batman?! Awesome!"

With his helmet on and false plates, identifying him would not be so easy. With an open shrug, he revved the bike and added with excitement.

"You go guys! Kick their asses!"

He then drove off down the street and away. He was not a hero. He was not a costumed vigilante. He was a genin of the Foot Clan and not prone to their rampant heroism. Well...Not when he can be identified.

As soon as he was two blocks away, he parked in an alleyway. He removed the helmet and retrieved the faceless mask. Out came the kodachi, the kunai and the throwing stars, every bit neatly in place. Added to this was five darts, each tipped with a special narcotic to his belt and the blowgun in pieces that came with it. Eggs, sucked of their yolk and filled with flour, red pepper flakes and metal shavings were added on. All of his weapons were traditional, all of them special in their own way. By his own hands he made them, in the best traditions of ninja everywhere. He then shucked off the shirt and biker jacket, the body armor present as always. Once situated, there was no more Adrian...Only Grid.

And with agility to rival the bats and birds of this city, he leaped and took the long, silent way via rooftop.

I don't want too many cooks in this kitchen, I know you two by reputation so you're in. I've got snipers getting into position now, I don't want them getting confused who's who.
