Pietro has lived in The Sky for his whole life. Born into a life of relative luxury, at least compared to those from The Land, Pietro has nonetheless become well-acquainted with Golden City as a whole, as he is the last in a generation of librarians.
Now in his twenty-third year of life, Pietro manages the family bookkeeping alone, except for his adopted house-cat 'Omen'. The Marrow family heads, that is to say, the living parents and grandparents of Pietro, have moved on to become members of The Council for a time, before returning to a life of prestigious yet quiet retirement. From time to time, they drop in to visit himself and his pet, offering a view on Golden City's affairs that Pietro is all too happy to agree with wholeheartedly just for politeness' sake. He much prefers living alone, at least for now, even though his forebears seem incredibly eager that he should marry and continue the family legacy.
In "Marrow's Old Bones & Tomes", the small building that doubles as a house and a library, Pietro lives and works a quiet, steady life. He's never been much interested in experiencing firsthand the mysterious life beyond or below The Sky, as he's read about much of it from his collection. Indeed, he only hears bad news of late, direct from his former Council relatives, describing how the situation is "always getting worse, too much thievery, sickness and bedlam down there". Still, there are times on a particularly quiet night that Pietro will stroke Omen's fur and fantasize about one day travelling to see for himself. But maybe not just yet. Is he complacent? Or... simply afraid?
Affluent visitors will drop by on a regular basis, to check out a book or donate to the slowly-growing collection. As a result, Pietro listens to tales about their travels in exchange for a manual on automaton repairs, or trades a pouch of coin for underhand directions to a Medicine dealer. Though he is technically on the payroll of The Council, as a valued citizen performing a valuable job in The Sky, he has trouble saying no to a little bribery, especially if there's "not much harm". After all, knowledge should be free... shouldn't it?
Appearance:
Standing at exactly 1.8 meters, Pietro has a soft smile below his tousled black hair. His skin is pale, never having spent much time in direct sunlight, and his eyes are green as a forest. He has thin, dark eyebrows, but no facial hair otherwise. He is lithe, neither skinny nor muscular, never having been one to do manual labor.
Pietro's library robes are the same shade of black as his hair, rather simple in design but with a double layer of fabric upon his shoulders. Presumably this was a hand-me-down from a former Council relative, as it is formal-wear without being overly presumptuous. When wandering the streets of The Sky, Pietro may choose to wear something less fanciful, especially when the days grow hot. In this case, he has several sets of short-sleeved, pastel or patterned shirts and cloth suspenders to match.
