    • Computer sciences/technology studies
    • Home Economics
    • Study hall
Note: everybody will have Yuliya and Shen's class together. I'll allow the other subject times to be at your own choosing as long as they follow the basic format above. If it's better for everyone to have all their classes together, let me know and we can do that.

Another Note: Except for those classes with teachers already named, you are free to fill in the space with your own teachers. Do know once a teacher has been named, they will become universal to all the characters' classes. So for example if Will has math with X then Abraham will also have math with X and so on. This is because I do not have any plans for those teachers in those positions. Okay, well a little bit of laziness too :p but mostly because I don't really have anything planned for those other teachers.

    1. ALL IWAKU RULES APPLY. YOU WILL BE REPORTED IF YOU BREAK THEM.
    2. @IceQueen and I will be GMs. Our word is final.
    3. Absolutely no one liners. Give us something juicy to read! A minimum of two (2) paragraphs for your IC posts, no less, but you are more than welcome to write bigger ones. :)
    4. There will be no posting order in the roleplay. Post at anytime you want as long as your post follows rule number 3
    5. With that said, please provide one IC post once every month. If that is not possible, let us know ahead of time, otherwise your character will be left behind and possibly kicked from the roleplay.
    6. In the event that your character is going to be having a conversation with another character, collaborate with the other player. This is to prevent spamming, players losing track of the thread due to massive amount of notifications, and a smoother flow in the IC.
    7. If doing a collab, notify us in the OOC so we know what's up!
    8. NO SMUT.
    9. No godmodding, no metagaming. Obvious standard.
    10. Have a thought? A scene? An idea? A villain for everyone to fight? Tell us! I highly, highly, encourage you to share some of your ideas or any plot candies you might have for the roleplay. We may not be able to get to it right away, but I can assure you we will keep your idea in mind :)
    11. NPCs are there to help you. Make use of them as long as they do not do anything that is major or changes the direction of the story. We the GMs will be using them for that.
    12. However, do not use NPCs as your sole source of interaction. Try to interact with other players.
    13. Tag the person whom you are interacting with. That way anyone will know that said post would pertain to them.
    14. Write in third person. Not first, not second, third.
    15. Be civil to one another. Fights in the IC will be allowed (encouraged even) but not in the OOC. @IceQueen or I will jump in and stop that.
    16. And last but not least: Have fun!

  • In order to avoid potential characters from becoming overpowered, there will be a list of banned powers. Characters cannot have these powers as they are basically game changers, very difficult to work with, and can pretty much ruin the roleplay. They are as follows:
    • Telekinesis
    • Telepathy
    • Precognition
    • Omnipotence
    • Omnipresence
    • Time-related powers
    • Probability manipulation

  • [HSSI's Top Ten]
Hercules School for Superpowered Individuals has a special title called the Top Ten. The Top Ten is comprised of the school's ten most powerful, highest achieving students of that year. Every school year has it's Top Ten, chosen based on grades and scores from the previous year. The scores are divided by the following:
    • Regular classes 10%
    • Electives 5%
    • 1x1 training 25%
    • Martial Arts 10%
    • Simulation 50%
Simulation training plays a big part in scores since the class measures a student's power and competence in the field. For a school for heroes training new heroes, it is important for the school and the world to know who will be its best defenders.

The Top Ten functions as a ranking system with 1 being the strongest. The titles provide insight as to who could potentially be top dog heroes as well as bringing attention to students for recruiting colleges and superhero teams. Often they represent the school during special events that request for HSSI to attend or host. In special cases, they will even be asked to participate in missions with established heroes if the danger level is at a level deemed safe enough for them to participate.

Because the Top Ten are chosen based on performance during the previous year, only grades 10-12 are allowed into the Top Ten*. Since the Top Ten are decided every year, if Freshmen want to become part of the Top Ten, they must excel in their subjects to be considered for a spot. Scores do NOT roll over, but some members are able to hold their title for more than one year, even moving up in the ranks.

This year's current Top Ten are as follows**:
    1. ⋆⋆⋆
    2. ⋆⋆⋆
    3. ⋆⋆⋆
    4. ⋆⋆⋆
    5. ⋆⋆⋆
    6. ⋆⋆⋆
    7. ⋆⋆⋆
    8. Eduardo Pierce, Dermal Armor
    9. ⋆⋆⋆
    10. ⋆⋆⋆
*Do not Expect any of you to pull a Harry Potter and become a Top Ten when your characters are all Freshmen
** Technically I have drafted the rest of the Top Ten and will reveal them as we move along in the plot. HOWEVER, if you do have an idea for a member of the Top Ten, let me know and I can put them on the list ahead of time :)

Name:

Yuliya Markov

Nickname:
Ms. Markov
Hydrangea

Role:
Teacher-Literature

Age:
28

Height:
5"9"

Sexual Orientation:
Bisexual

Powers and abilities:
Brain manipulation
Yuliya's abilities allow her almost complete access to the functions of her brain that push the very limits the human body is capable of and then some. When activated, Yuliya can change her appearance at will, manipulate the different functions of her body, grant herself enhanced strength, speed, and senses, the ability manipulate her bones and nails, accelerate her healing, and even harden her skin as an armor. Her mental capacities also move at an accelerated rate, allowing her to solve problems faster and retain information easier.

With all these abilities comes major drawbacks and conditions. Yuliya's ability can only be activated upon seeing this hydrangea painting followed immediately by a clear, direct order. If these conditions are not met, than the ability won't activate or she could be in a complete, catatonic state until an order is received. Her abilities also put her at risk for a condition which she has dubbed "Backfire." "Backfire" is simply what it is: a backfiring of her abilities which depends on what was used. For example, if she were to enhance her eyesight, she could suddenly go blind. If she were to use her enhanced strength, her muscles would rupture. Because all of these abilities depends on the brain, there is also a risk for developing brain cancer as well.

Added note: Yuliya is capable of developing mental powers such as telekinesis, telepathy and others. But, in order to obtain this, a tumor must develop in her brain and at that point there is no way to know if she will be fully functional to use it properly.

Abnormal features:
When using her powers, Yuliya's undergoes a drastic change. Her hair changes from auburn to black, and her eyes change from blue to purple. Her skin also becomes tanner and her body becomes more muscular.

Body Type:

Athletic body type with muscle definition. Muscles become more prominent when changed into Hydrangea.

Hobbies:

Going to coffee shops
Ice cream tasting
Pressing flowers
Card games
Martial arts

Likes:
Sunny Days
The smell of coffee
The view of the city from tall buildings
Multi-color pens
Sweets
French fries and chocolate malts

Dislikes:
Poorly written essays
"Backfire"
Hydrangea deactivating and leaving her to figure out how to get back onto stable ground
Wet socks
The school's bland version of Lo Mein noodles

Personality:
Yuliya is generally an upbeat, lively woman. She always greets her coworkers and students with a bright smile and tries to tackle the day with good energy after she has had a cup of coffee. She relaxes by reading, often choosing the shade of a large oak tree on the school grounds, sometimes climbing the branches if she wants to watch the sunset. She regularly works out to keep her body in shape, but is always enthusiastic to learn new moves or new workout techniques.

As Hydrangea, her personality is much more quiet and stoic, a side effect of her powers that practically shuts down emotional responses in order to let her have the most efficiency in her missions. Trying to get her to smile is practically impossible and she will become mission oriented and will keep all her focus into completing the mission. Researchers often commented it's almost like she was a different person. Despite that, she does have a soft spot for young children.

Bio:
Yuliya is the daughter of Russian immigrants. Her mother was a nursing assistant while her father was a librarian. During the first few years of her life, her parents brought her with them to work because they didn't hire a babysitter or a nanny, mostly because they were paranoid what a stranger could do to their precious zaichik. Eventually, she started going to work more with her father and spend her days reading all the books the children's section had to offer. Yuliya's childhood was quite normal and a very happy one as well.

After graduating high school and college, Yuliya was recruited by the CIA as an agent. Most of her work had her stuck at the desk dealing with audits from various superheroes, with one or two field missions here and there, but mostly desk work. One day, she received an email from the research department asking if she would like to participate in a new program they were working on. She signed up, and was taken to the research department with seven others who have also volunteered themselves. Each candidate was asked to provide a sample of their DNA along with a physical examination. Of the eight candidates, Yuliya was the only one who showed the most promise and was made the test subject of a new program called "Condon." She underwent numerous experimentation and later on intense, grueling training, turning her into the most efficient, perfect soldier. The clinical trials were done and soon sent her on her first mission which was to infiltrate the hideout of an infamous villain and assassinate him. The mission was a success and soon, Yuliya was sent out on more missions, going under the alias Hydrangea. The program was deemed successful and it looked like Yuliya was onto a praiseworthy career. Until one mission.

Yuliya received a mission for San Francisco, California where there has been reported activity of a wild man terrorizing citizens of the city. Her mission was to investigate and to stop the villain at all costs. She met her target just a few days after her arrival, the man gone mad after falling into a vat of toxic chemicals. He had set up a plan where he would blow up the Golden Gate Bridge, picking a time when it was the busiest. Among the trapped victims was a bus of school children. Yuliya engaged him in battle as soon as she stepped foot on the bridge. The man, despite not having powers of his own, proved to be a very formidable enemy, having smaller bombs placed all around the area. Eventually, Hydrangea managed to take him down, but he was able to make one last move and activate the big one, throwing many citizens to their deaths. Among the victims was the bus of children. Hydrangea desperately wanted to save them, but her body wouldn't move as her orders were to only stop the man and nothing else. Hydrangea could only helplessly listen the screams of the children as they fell to their deaths, the sudden silence that followed shocking Hydrangea back into Yuliya.

Despite the losses, the mission was still marked a success. Yuliya, however, was hit with an immense guilt over the deaths of those on that bridge. The guilt could be felt the strongest when she thought of those children. She resigned from the CIA. Soon after, she received a letter offering her a teaching position at the school for heroes. She had to wonder if she was being made fun of for what happened in San Francisco. While she wanted nothing to do with doing superhero work, she was jobless and needed a new source of income. She accepted the position, but only under the condition that she not teach hero courses and instead teach literature to these up and coming students.

Personality/Daily Life

tumblr_inline_npx667q6RH1qfbnk1_500.gif

Personality:
Rei is a lighthearted individual, who is also annoying persistent. He's almost never seen without either a large cheek puffed up to indicate a pout, or a large smile. He tends to have a very carefree mood, although in return he tends to be very restless. If he finds a system unjust he's more than willing to make a full blown unnecessary argument. In a way he's shameless, in a joking sort of mood he enjoys flirting with whoever is around him.

When he goes about flirting he tends to lower his voice, deepening it, and slowly closing the space. In which ends up with a slap on his face or a cheerful smile as he rolls on the floor red faced and laughing, he just can't look someone in the face for too long especially at such a close distance. It isn't very difficult to make him smile. He's similar to a bomb just waiting to be set off, and he has a difficult time being serious when the time comes. Being the airhead he is, he also has difficulties with 'digesting' information quickly.

Bio

521b3d846b652023.jpg!600x600.jpg

Bio:
Rei was spoiled. Unlike most of the children in the school, he hadn't any dramatic backstory or had any issues blending in with the crowd. Although as a kid he had issues with his grades and struggled with being compared to his older brother.. Later he was blessed with a littler sister but he doesn't have a stable relationship with her, she being the only person Rei refuses to get along with. After all in the rich over powering family he had it shouldn't have been a problem, independence was encouraged more than not. The only reason his parents still haven't divorced was honestly because it wasn't like they had the time to start a trial, much less court another. The money they brought together allowed a lifestyle that they both enjoyed. Currently he has a littler sister, a father, and a mother. His staff were more of a family then his blood family was. Often Rei's father would force Rei to attend business meetings as a kid, in which Rei didn't mind since at that time he was allowed to test out his lines and his tricks.

The time in which he found out his powers was one of mere coincidence.

He had been in an argument with his sister in which he had shoved his sister back, singeing her clothes. That had been strike one for the blonde. Strike two was when Rei was stretching to get ready to run to the next base. In which he unconsciously built up friction in his shoes to run swiftly, which ended up with him crashing into a fence, nose flowing freely with blood. Along with massive group of confused individuals. They lost that game. Strike two. He didn't need a strike three before an invitation to a 'hero' school opened up for him, in which Rei gleefully took it. After all, how long did he consider until his family drove him crazy. The answer was, not very long. The ironic thing was that he didn't even see them that frequently and he had been at the tip of insanity.

Power's and Abilities

maxresdefault.jpg

Powers and abilities:
Electricity Manipulation
Currently he's only limited to running at a fast pace for a short amount of time, and to the point where he can't control it. When he increases his speed he tends to overestimate the dosage which caused him to jerk forward taking a few seconds to stabilize himself, along with the world spinning which took him an additional few seconds.

He's also able to generate a very small amount of electricity into his palm, although when enraged it seemed to spark all over his body. On the other hand, when Rei becomes enraged it's most likely after he fuses out that he'll collapse.

Both abilities extremely tire him out after all the adrenaline had come and gone.

Abnormal Features

6b1cd2b87b8584d6e1f44bb01f0fcf3b--hot-anime-boy-cute-anime-guys.jpg

Abnormal feature:
When using his powers, or when he unconsciously triggers his powers, his eyes turn a bright golden color. Otherwise he'd seem like a normal flirtatious teenager.

Name:

Abraham Harris

Alias/hero name:

Titan

Role: Student

Age: 15

Height: 6'1"

Sexual Orientation: Homosexual

Powers and abilities:

Abe enjoys the power of super strength, using it unrepentantly to enhance the product of everything that he does... where the power applies. His muscles are supple and extremely reactive to the electrical impulses of his body, which results in inhuman strength when paired with the sheer multitude and strength of the fibers. If he must jump, then he'll leap 40 ft in the air just to show off. He's still working on his superhero landing though...

Thankfully his body is capable of keeping up with the extra metabolic activity needed to support his abilities, assuming he takes in sufficient amounts of building materials in the form of protein and fat. However, if he does not eat as he should and still chooses to use his power, he risks damaging himself beyond the limits of his own healing resulting in what he calls 'super burn'. Super burn, unlike the burning caused by lactic acid build up from a hard workout, is debilitating pain caused by many ripped muscle fibers that haven't repaired. He's been bed ridden for days after strenuous activity not supplemented through diet. Needless to say, this boy eats a lot.

Abnormal features: For one, he's huge, especially for a teenager. He often jokes that he's "built like an ox" from working with them all the time when he was home on the ranch. He has abnormally long and sharp canines as well as fairly pointy other teeth, which most likely marks his increased need for meat in his diet.

Body Type:

Muscular, broad-shouldered, and tall

Likes:

Working with his hands

Eating new foods

Dislikes:
Confinement
Aloof People
Tight Clothing

Personality:

Abe is a natural born, Southern gentleman, accent included. He loves striking up pleasant conversation with strangers and offering to help anyone that looks like they may need it. He's pleasant, jovial, and warm to everyone. Although he finds closed off individuals to be distrustful, because he tends to think they're hiding something. He can be nosy and loud when he wants to be. Abe also carries a healthy dose of arrogance with his inherent swagger. On occasion, he'll engage in good-natured posturing with his fellow men. And he has trouble with being flirtatious on purpose. He's most often charming when he's not trying to be.

Bio:

Abe comes from a ranch on Texas, cliche but it's true. He grew up raising, wrangling, and riding cattle, oxen, and bison. Often times he did those things with his bare hands and under his own strength. He has a close relationship with his family and considers his childhood to have been a happy one. When it came time for him to go off to high school and his folks received his letter of invitation in the mail, they promptly packed him up and shipped him off. Anything for their baby boy to get ahead in the world, after all.

He never thought to end himself up in boarding school at any point in time. Wasn't that for delinquents? Even so, once he understood what was going on, he decided to give it a go. He did enjoy helping people anyhow. So why not learn to do it on a worldwide scale. His only source of sadness is leaving behind all his friends, but he promised to write.

Name
Cora Kitonobe

Nickname
Fishy, Siren

Role
Student

Age
17

Height
5'3"

Sexual Orientation
Bisexual

Powers and abilities
Sonokenisis
Cora has the ability to store and compress sound waves for later release as energy spheres.
The power can be used to boost jumps, attack enemies, or provide a singular small temporary shield.
An added effect which also draws from her abnormal features is the ability to bend the effect of a sound wave and
draw in large crowds of romantically interested people. It has been dubbed the siren song.
However powerful it is, it's notoriously hard to control, and is almost infamous around the academy for blowing
various holes in different places or occasionally drawing in a large crowd of men and women.

Abnormal features
When she touches water she gets a little, fishy. She has a few scales across
her shoulders during her human form. When she touches water she grows a tail as seen below.
To add to the ferociousness of her siren form, she has webs for her ears, her pants are completely
shredded, her upper body around the chest area becomes covered in scales and her neck
is adorned with shells. Her eyes also carry an unnatural lavender tint to match her
tail and her teeth grow long and pointy. She also has a craving for raw sea food.

Body Type
Lithe and slightly muscular

Hobbies
Swimming, Doing Art, Dancing, Skating, Trying to make friends

Likes
Salmon, Painting, Sculptures, Meat, Friends, Laughing, Saving people, Sleeping in,
Sleepovers, Caramel, Crepes, Winter, Books, Cuddling

Dislikes
Rain showers, being thrown in water, her fish side, the siren song, raw sea food, having to
sleep in water, annoying assholes, being alone

Personality
Cora is most often described as a bit all over the place. She tries to make herself approachable and friendly,
but more often than not she's silent, afraid she's going to end up knocking someone out if
she get's too emotional. Her biggest caveat is her fear of hurting innocent people
and her friends. She is highly self deprecating but will drop everything to help a friend at any time of day.

Bio
Cora was a complete anomaly. She was found somewhere abandoned and put quickly into the foster system. It wasn't
long before she was adopted by a nice couple, who quickly returned her after they spotted weird spots on her body.
The next people to pick her up were a pair of scientists, more devoted to research than their own marriage. At home,
Cora became their experiment. They studied her all day and all night. She slept in a cylinder tube of water every
night, monitored constantly. She was only allowed to go to school on the premise that the government
wouldn't confiscate her, and that she was completely stable. All was good until she got to middle
school, where she had to be promptly put into home schooling after a near fatal accident
at her school. It didn't take long for the government to seize her legally and send
her off to Hero school, where she could learn how to be a stable
member of society.

Body Type: She's a tall, kinda string bean-y girl
Abnormal features: Mayra is covered almost head to toe in clothes because if she has even the smallest bit of skin contact, her powers activate. Thus she wears gloves, long socks and long sleeves to make sure all of her skin is covered.
  • Personality:
Now Mayra is a very happy girl. She's optimistic, social, and generally compassionate. She likes to help where she can, especially when it comes to her family. She's a bit of a nerd, prioritizing school over most things and working hard to get good grades. She works hard for what she has and doesn't like to push things off. Stubborn as a mule, Mayra refuses to acknowledge that she can't do something. This means she can be quite argumentative when her buttons are pushed. She's very secretive of her home life, and tends to be ashamed of her situation. While seemingly perfectly happy and functioning, Mayra has her bad days and bad weeks. Some days it's a struggle to get out of bed and see the point in things. Other days, she just wants to disappear and melt into the ground. However, her need to support her family generally keeps her from getting too down in the dumps.

  • Powers and abilities:
    Surface Manipulation:
Mayra can manipulate any inanimate surface she touches to become any shape or form she can think of. With this amazing ability comes some major conditions and draw backs. While she can create almost any shape that comes to her mind, she cannot use more mass than is available to her. She can't just create more of a surface out of nowhere. To be able to manipulate the surface, she has to have skin touching the surface at some point on her body, usually her hands or feet, to be able to actually use her power. She finds it easier to mold things physically with her hands than to just think of the shape and touch the surface, but both are possible. Currently, she cannot touch any kind of surface without making it bend around her or denting it, forcing her to cover all of her limbs as best as she can to avoid ruining things.
  • Bio:
Mayra grew up an only child in a poverty stricken area in Ecuador with her parents working hard to provide for her. Her parents dreamed of providing a better life for her, thus had her learn English in hopes that one day they would move to America. They had heard the country could offer them more opportunities and hopefully a better life.

Ecuador had a more lax response to supernatural abilities, thus when it was discovered that Mayra was bending her crib wherever she touched it, her parents simply covered her up more and made her promise to never use it around others. Thus, Mayra lived a normal-ish life as her family worked four to six jobs between them to try and save up to move. Wanting to help her parents, Mayra started to use her powers to sculpt marvelous pieces of art. She sold them under pseudonyms, saving up the money to help her family move. When she was 11 years old, her family finally had enough to move and try to start a better life.

Unfortunately, their situation didn't change much after they moved. Mayra's family still lived mostly in poverty, scrapping by. Seeing how her family struggled, Mayra took up her sculpting once more to sell pieces off and try to help her family gain more income. However, their new country's government wasn't as lax as their old one. By the time she was 16, Mayra was found showing some kids her sculpting abilities and taken in to learn at a new hero school. Without any goodbyes or chance at saying no, Mayra was off to learn how to control her powers.

YAY CHARACTERS! :D

I'm interested. Is it okay to have more than one character?
As of right now, we are only allowing one character per person. I would like to keep the player-character ratio the same so nothing gets out of hand due to massive cast list. Maybe the opportunity for doubling will open one day, but not right now.

Oh and glad to have you join us, @Impudimp ! :)

And here's the IC!
OPEN SIGNUPS - Hercules School for Super-powered Individuals (IC)

A few things to note:
  • All GM posts will be formatted with the fieldbox you see in the first post. My own character posts will look like a normal posts.
  • It is assumed at this point that your character has already settled themselves in their dorm room. All characters get a single dorm to themselves. You may write your character arriving and fixing their dorm to suit their tastes, but your first post should end with you at the bus stop.
  • Because my character is a teacher, she won't be appearing for a while. Once everyone gets to the school and is in the main classroom/homeroom is when Yuliya will come in.
  • The current arc we are in will be the Introductory arc. It's basically where everyone, learns a little more about the school, introduces themselves to each other, and form the beginnings of friendships and rivalries. If you want such relationships or others you have in mind, I encourage you to talk about them with someone so you both are on the same page. I hopefully won't make the arc last too long, just everyone getting to know each other followed by an IC power level assesement and then we move on.
And that's it! Hope to see your posts! :D

Going to be gone for the weekend.

Yo, y'all are making this too hard not to join in on, so here I am. Hope I'm not late to the party.

Look:
Sam.jpg
I hand-draw my characters as often as possible, but I'm only so capable. Here's a few things that are missing:
- Sam has bright, blond, curly hair that he just kinda presses into a small afro-ish look. He washes it plenty and runs a comb through it when needed, but otherwise, what you see is what you get. Sam also has olive-green eyes. They're pretty understated, which only figures, because Sam is a pretty understated guy.

Name: Sam Kulka

Alias/hero name: "Just Sam's fine..."

Role: Student

Age: 15

Height: 5' 5"

Sexual Orientation: Asexual/Panromantic

Powers and abilities: Gravitational Singularities - Sam's superpower revolves primarily around gravity, but because gravity is an active force rather than a subjectable state, Sam actually creates small singularities that do the gravity-altering for him. Because of this, the range of his power is dictated by how far he can propel his singularities. If you want the bare-bones, Sam kinda makes mini-black holes, just without the event horizon. They only last for so long though. Focusing too long on his ability tends to cause heartburn and headaches. One of the most important details of his power is that he can, at least for the moment, only produce singularities from the palms of his hands. They tend to form around two to five inches from his palms, which means that if something or someone is in close enough proximity, he can produce a singularity within whatever it may be, causing it to collapse in on itself.

Abnormal features: His chest is noticeably (but not detrimentally) caved in near his heart, a natural formation due to his powers. To elaborate, his heart is a bit of a singularity in and of itself, and has a barely noticeable gravitational tug to it, thus a few physical abnormalities. It doesn't inhibit him, but it does make him look weird. His facial features also look dragged downward and a bit squished, once again as a side effect of growing up with his powers.

Body Type: Average for his height, though a bit on the boney side. Definitely not the "superhero" build he's come to expect from comics, which he's a bit self-concious about.

Hobbies: Sam is a book worm with the literary version of a sweet tooth for comics. He's not a junky or a collector, but he appreciates the theme of someone remaining in control of themselves, and uses it to inspire himself to become better acquainted with his own abilities, cautious as he is. He also plays solitaire when there's nothing else going on. People in the past have offered to play something else with his cards, but he's a bit too embarrassed to admit he doesn't know any other games, so he's turned them all down.

Likes: Milk, comics, birds, people who are more energetic than him, and dry weather (precipitation and humidity sticks to him because he has his own autonomous gravitational pull, small as it might be)

Dislikes: Bugs, dirt, and dust (again with the whole living-with-personal-gravity thing), exercise and physical activity, bullies, people that can't make up their mind, and "sitting normally" (Sam's a criss-cross applesauce kinda guy, and the confines of a chair irritate him).

Personality: If Sam were any older, he'd definitely fit the whole "Lone Drifter" sort of archetype. Really though, he's a big daydreamer, the kind of guy that'll go on a field trip just to wander off and get lost on his own. Again, if he were older, it'd look cool, or at least interesting, but watching a 15 year-old get himself lost for no reason whatsoever has a twang of pathetic-ness about it. Despite this, he likes people. He doesn't really talk to them much, sure, but Sam's an individual who likes to be talked at, rather than with. Picture the kid in the movies that sits on the edge of a dock, with his legs kicking about just above the water's edge, looking over the water while someone else is chatting away, and that's Sam. He tends to keep to himself, but he's supportive to say the least. He's also a low-maintenance sort. You don't need to do much to keep him happy or at ease. On the other end of the spectrum, he doesn't take being baby'd or pushed very well. Sam is the inactive sort, and would much rather sit on the sidewalk and watch others play a game rather than join in himself. It makes improving him a very difficult task.

Bio: Sam's dad is a grain farmer, and his mom is a well-known illustrator for independent publishers and projects. They live on a small grain farm in Green Bank, West Virginia, about thirty minutes from the nearest public school, and it's there that Sam lived a happy, albeit lonely, life. Sam's aunt is the one who went through the logistics of his birth with his parents. Because of that, no word got out about Sam's singularity heart, or any of the other oddities he experienced while growing up. It may have been illegal to withhold that information from government census, but the Kulka family was too closely-knit to care, at least on his pop's side. With secrets kept safe on that front, Sam was free to grow up in the open environment of his father's farm. School was a different beast though. His bent features and fragile body saw him subtly bullied. He remained resolute through it all, but one incident went too far. Sam, in self-defense, had to push away someone who was getting too close for comfort, getting up in his face and spitting insults, etc. Emotions were running high, and Sam didn't catch the singularity he accidentally formed in the kid's chest. The bully collapsed and was sent to the hospital, and Sam was expelled for critically injuring a student. His parents had to deal with it, lest they give anyone a reason to delve into their kid's secrets.

Since then, Sam's been homeschooled. Sam's father, aside from asking for help with the farm work every now and again, opted not to teach his child his trade, hoping that it would prompt Sam to look for something that he could enjoy doing. Of course, Sam didn't mind at all. Farm work was already too tedious for his frame as it was, and agriculture sounded boring, no matter how happy his father was in it. Sam's mom, on the other hand, introduced him to comics through her illustrations. She never put work in for big names, but that didn't stop her from showing her child a whole new world. It was about that time that Sam began to understand the weight of his abilities, so comics were his safe space in a sense. Once that connection was made, his mom stopped at nothing to keep him supplied with new and interesting works. Her and Sam even began a little family project of making one about a hero with his powers... That's when the call came.

A school for heroes. For his whole life, Sam thought he was just a weird exception, so to learn that there was a school of people with issues like him was an eye-opener. It was bittersweet though. His secret was out, and because his family hid it away, the powers that be were within their rights to blackmail them, forcing Sam's participation as his parents' compensation for illegally withholding information. His family certainly didn't want to give him up, and Sam didn't want to give them up either, but it was a cross-country trip to the specified location, and the government didn't allow much room to argue. So it was with a pretty heavy heart that Sam packed his things and said goodbye to his mom and pop. Anticipation and nerves equalize his excitement and curiosity as he takes the plunge into this strange new world of heroes.

Yaaas you're here!! Hmm, I wasn't going to accept another student in the event one other person might join, but I can make an exception. I was a bit worried Sam's power would also affect time, but I am glad to see that is not the case :) IC is linked on the first post! Can't wait to see your reply!

If said person does decide to join, then they will be the last student I accept. If not then, I will close spots for students as well, leaving the 2nd teacher as the only spot open for anyone. Doubling as of right now is still NOT allowed until I can get a feel for how the group works together. That means posting in the IC and OOC chatter as well. :3

Yo, just tested the waters in the IC. Let me know if there's anything I ought to add or whatnot. :)

ANNOUNCEMENT: Because there has been no word from the the person who I had thought would join us, I am reopening another student role. @Seishin Ryuu if you decide to join us, you may take that role if you wish. HOWEVER, this will be the LAST CS I accept and then I am closing signups.

The next GM post will be posted around August 24-25.
You have three days to get your post in, along with interactions with other players.

Also, I've noticed the OOC has been a bit quiet, which is a no bueno! D: This isn't just a place to post your CS. Talk! I can even create a discord server if that would be a better place for OOC chatter.

That reminds me, I likely won't be on Iwaku from the 24th to the 30th. I'll be too busy living it up in Japan. Figured I'd let y'all know now. :3

  • Thank You

Sorry for my silence, I've been busy putting together the CS as well as handling RL duties. I would be signing up as a teacher, but as it seems you only have room for another student?
Aaah sorry for the confusion. That last open spot is for either a teacher or a student. Once a new CS is posted, I'm closing signups regardless of what role has been taken.
