Romance is a big plus for me, but I can be pretty adaptable
Tell me, have you ever heard of the term "Chuunibyou", or "Eighth Grader Syndrome"? For those not familiar with this Japanese term, you might understand better by hearing it's more common English synonym: "Delusions of Grandeur". This is a sad affliction that typically affects young adolescents, its most drastic form making those who contract it believe they have special powers or are somehow connected to and surrounded by the occult. For those such patients, the period in which they retain these delusions later develops into an embarrassing period of shame that forever haunts their memories, despite how much fun they seem to have at the time. In most cases this behavior subsides by the beginning of one's first year in high school, but there are some cases where patients retain their status as chuunibyou patient for the remainder of their school days and sometimes longer.

About
This is an RP loosely based on the anime "Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai". I say loosely because it recycles similar themes and setting, but with all original characters. No canon characters will show up in this RP, and only characters approved in the CS thread for this RP should be posting in the IC. If someone is interested in joining they can post here in the OOC about their interest as well as infer as to where the plot is moving, and then fill out a CS, which should only be posted in the CS thread (both linked above). The rules for this RP are as follows:
  1. [BCOLOR=#800000]First and foremost you need to adhere to the standard rules of RPing: no powerplaying or meta-gaming, but mild godmoding or auto-hitting is allowed as long as it's to the point of, say, occasionally having a perfect counter, flicking someone too close on the forehead, or sneaking up behind someone who is distracted and tickling them or the likes, but anything beyond is forbidden. That said, many acts of light auto-hitting like the tickling will still need to be discussed between players in the OOC for permission.[/BCOLOR]
  2. [BCOLOR=#ffff00]The next thing I can't stress enough is that characters don't necessarily need to get along, but players should still show respect to each other in the OOC and retain a positive environment here.[/BCOLOR]
  3. [BCOLOR=#000080]The IC will be conducted in an orderly manner with an episodic style where character posting order will be determined prior to each episode. Depending on how things turn out it may be possible that some posting orders will be reused, but that is to be determined. Players may also use a posting profile to spruce up their posts should they wish to use one.[/BCOLOR]
  4. [BCOLOR=#ff0000]Players are not aloud to post in the IC unless their character has been approved and it is that character's turn to post.[/BCOLOR]
  5. [BCOLOR=#ffcc99]Even though this is based on the Chuunibyou series, one does not need to have actually seen or read the series to join as long as they can match the setting, though it is nonetheless highly recommended as the series is great![/BCOLOR]
  6. [BCOLOR=#333333]Like in the series there will be delusion battles on occasion. Make sure that all actions performed in the realm of fantasy during such events are justifiable within the constructs of the realm of reality.[/BCOLOR]
  7. [BCOLOR=#008000]Despite this RP focusing around the concept of chuunibyou, it does not mean you can't have a character like Kumin or Isshiki from the anime: one who's either completely oblivious to chuunibyou or doesn't quite have it but is mildly interested in the idea.[/BCOLOR]
  8. [BCOLOR=#999999]On the subject of characters: there will be a max cap of 2 per player to begin with. This being said, both characters do not need to be submitted or enter the fray at the beginning. In other words, you could go ahead and submit a CS for 2 different characters if you want, and have one enter in later on in the RP, and you could also submit just one in the beginning and then submit another one at a later date when inspiration strikes you. This goes without saying that you can also submit 2 characters and start RPing as both right from the get-go. If the latter is done then, when character posting order is chosen, you may have influence over which of your two characters you'd like to post as before the other, but they will still adhere to the randomly generated order and they can not switch places after the order has been set. One more thing to note is that although the initial character limit is 2 per person, if,later on down the road, anyone feels that they want to have another character they are free to submit a third as long as they can still keep up.[/BCOLOR]
  9. [BCOLOR=#003366]Bear in mind while you are creating your character that since this RP is anime-based all FCs need be in anime style and of decent quality; whether they are official anime/manga art, anime-style game art, or fan art/commission. Sources won't need to be cited, however, so no need to stress there.[/BCOLOR]
  10. [BCOLOR=#ff9900]Another point to note is that, similar to the original series, there will be a dedicated junior high school connected to the high school where most of the setting takes place, so the possibility for making a junior high character like Dekomori is open as long as they have relevance to the setting. Despite this, characters at the high school are not barred from having attended a different junior high school.[/BCOLOR]
  11. [BCOLOR=#800080]Touching up from earlier on character limitations; family members and random NPCs can be used independent of your character limit, as long as they are not used as frequently as a PC would be; the occasional one liner from a random person or RPing as a character's family when around them at home or whatever is acceptable.[/BCOLOR]
  12. [BCOLOR=#ff99cc]Oh, romance? Sure, there can be an element of romance to this RP between characters; just remember that if one or both parties are patients of chuunibyou it will be a long and bumpy road before they can officially be called an item as those suffering from the affliction typically aren't well versed in such deep, complex relationships and will frequently cause problems or misunderstandings. Granted some characters can already be in a relationship upon RP launch, as long as it is specified by both parties in the CS and at least briefly explained in their bio. if players would like to discuss various inner plots such as this among each other they may do so in the OOC.[/BCOLOR]
  13. [BCOLOR=#ffffff]Lastly, this RP will be taking place in modern Japan (specifically: the Minato ward in Tokyo, a.k.a. Minato City), and as such it will be following typical Japanese customs. High school and junior high school each have only 3 years, and classes will begin in April; typically when cherry blossoms begin or are close to blooming. Also, there are no dedicated school buses to pick up students; they will commute to school by either train, public bus, and/or foot depending on the distance between their home and the school. Classes will take place Monday-Saturday, with Saturday being a half day. Also don't forget that all students have foot lockers at the entrance of the school where they switch between their indoor and outdoor shoes which are provided by the student's family. Lastly on the subject is that while there is a cafeteria within the school where students can buy lunches via purchasing vouchers at a machine and then bringing them to the service area, a large percentage of students typically tend to have packed lunches (bentou! XD) brought from home often consisting of leftovers or a small, balanced lunch prepared by family alongside white rice, so make sure to keep these factors in mind.[/BCOLOR]
This is the IC for this RP. AS the GM I take control of major NPCs, such as school staff, but minor ones like random students or family members of one's own approved characters are free game. For those who skipped over the rules due to familiarity you may want to review rules 1 and 3 as they have been touched up. As this is the header thread it will not contain much extra information other than current characters and posting order, which will also be listed at the starting point of each episode which will also be posted by me. Do note that the posting information at the episode starters will be episode specific, while the same information in this post will be up to date to the current episode. I will also include information on the various notable staff members within the school in this head post.

Hitomi Ikeda

---Hitomi Ikeda---
5524-356810373.jpg
Age: 18
Class: 3-B
Club: Karate Club
Personality: Hitomi is normally a very high energy person with a deep interest in anything mysterious or strange. She fantasizes about being an amazing detective or sleuth, and is fairly skilled at staying well informed about the happenings around school and collecting gossip from other students, but despite all this her extreme lack of patience and the fact that she's also slightly airheaded at times makes it difficult for her to actually stake out information herself. All in all she's relatively sweet and kindhearted to most, but can also be fairly mischievous at times if you get on her bad side.
Trivia: She actually originally wanted to start a Mystery Club, but due to being unable to gather interested members the club flopped and she ended up joining the Karate Club since the school enforces that all students join a club and her parents wanted her to learn to protect herself. Surprisingly enough she is one of the few members who is able to keep up with the club president.

"Oooh, a tree will work!" Nariko exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement, "Come, Skadiya, let us search for Yggdrasil and rest underneath its welcoming shade!" Truth be told, she didn't know much about the world tree except through video games, but she knew that the tree was very important and brought some sort of life. "Ah, but first, we should probably get our bento." Beckoning for the girl to come, she began to make her way back to the classroom since she forgot her lunch there. Once she got that, she looked back at the girl with a smile and set off in search for a decent tree to sit under.

In her mind's eye, the quest for Yggdrasil was well underway as Kage and his new companion, Skadiya, searched for the mythical tree. Already he had sustenance with him that would be blessed by the tree's shade. That is, if he could ever find the tree. They headed out into the harsh sun, but Skadiya's cool aura helped him relax as he searched for the tree. From the distance, he spotted a towering behemoth of a tree with cool shade underneath. "Skadiya, there it is!" he pointed out, "Come on, let's go!" Laughing, he raced towards Yggdrasil as another adventure unfolded.

Nariko plopped down onto the ground as she waited for Aria to come. "Hey, Skadiya, is that your secret name?" she asked, tilting her head to one side, "What's the name others call you? I wasn't exactly paying attention during roll call..." She shook her head. "But enough about that. Let's eat!" With a grin, she unpacked her bento and began to eat it, not with gusto, but not too demurely either.

---Feast Beneath the World Tree---
When the girl mentioned Yggdrasil, Aria's eyes seemed to glitter and beam. "Yes, the believed horse of Odin sounds like a very suitable location to rest and consume our game. Forth, to Askr Yggdrasil!" She then giggled slightly at the prospect. The party of two had officially completed resting and equipping new armaments, and would now proceed to hunt for their next meal. They made their way to an area with many animals to hunt, with Kage leading the way as a sort of scout tactic she presumed. Upon arrival, they each dived in and slew their respective prey before quickly retreating so as to avoid a possible encounter with the enemy. Aria smiled back at her new friend after grabbing her own bento, and then followed her outside, opening her parasol upon reaching the door to the courtyard.

It didn't take long for Hibeyachi (she was still confused on the subject of the girl's family name) to find a decently shady tree. At last they had managed to locate on of the roots of the grand tree at which to rest and eat under the divine figure's protection. Upon reaching the shade of the tree, Aria closed her parasol and sat down Japanese style; her parasol sitting on the ground at her side and her bento on her lap. When she caught wind of Kage's inquiry about her birth name her hand flew up to slightly cover her mouth; "Oh, I'm terribly sorry for not properly introducing myself!" She then moved her bento, which was neatly wrapped in a cloth that was an icy shade of blue, to her side and bowed while still sitting down, saying; "My name is Aria Sakai; I really hope we get along."

Surveying the surroundings, Satoshi had not expected their surroundings to be quite empty. They were right by two club rooms but both were deserted. It was unusual since he had tried looking for empty spots in the school several times but always failed.

"Prepared as you always want it, Princess." He said proudly, giving the Princess' special bento.

The Princess introduced herself and explained a little bit, but Phoenix had already given way for Satoshi to take control. He nodded absently, unable to fully understand English.

I expected you'd help me in school. He mentally grumbled to Phoenix.

One must fight his own battles, human. Have integrity. The path of light is for those who do good even if no one watches. Phoenix replied simply. Satoshi furrowed his brows.

Meiko looked flustered but Satoshi expected that. She was in the presence of beings far greater than her so it was good that she was slowly beginning to understand her situation. She humbly tried to turn down the Princess and Satoshi was glad to know she understood her place somehow.

"There is something you can do. Work for us." He told her. Even humans could be dependable servants when properly trained. Satoshi

"Work? What work? Well, that's a good timing, I'm planning to get a job soon." the human replied.

"Ah, right. Employment is important for mortals..."Satoshi said mostly to himself. Even he had to do part-time work since Phoenix refused to just grant him wealth in the easy ways. He continued explaining, "but it won't be a typical kind of employment. We will not pay you in paper bills and such.As long as you work for us, we will see to it that you stay alive. That is more than any paper bill can afford."

Somehow, Meiko looked quite happy. Satoshi knew Phoenix was pretty satisfied with her. Humans were pretty simple. They either want to rule or be ruled. "Well then, I'm at your command, lord Phoenix, princess Monstre Charmant."

Alarmed, Satoshi grabbed her by the forearm and made her sit next to the Princess. "You must know already. The princess is in danger. For now, just call us by the human names. Other humans wouldn't understand that you're working for us, obviously you're taking too long in understanding your own situation," he told her with his voice low. He huffed. This mortal has a long way to go.

"I'm sorry, Maruyama-san, Matsuoka-san. I'm afraid I might need to train to be a good servant." Meiko replied. She looked very guilty, too.

"You will learn. But it's Satoshi and Miyako. You must convince the humans that you're friends with us so it won't be suspicious," he chided gently. They wouldn't want more civilians needlessly involved. Humans had short lives and were unable to deal with unfamiliar situations without a dose of hostility. Even Meiko was defensive just earlier. Thanks to Phoenix, Satoshi understood this and found himself more patient towards humans and their innocence. He looked at the Princess for her approval on the matter but Meiko spoke once more.

"Alright then, Satoshi-kun, Miyako-chan. Since you already know my secret...want some takoyaki?" She offered congenially. Satoshi was amused somehow. How could Meiko cover up her Kansai lineage if she had takoyaki of all things for lunch?

"Well, the classmates gave me some harumaki. It's supposed to have lots of wasabi, though." Satoshi shrugged and set down the box of super spicy harumaki. He was quite fond of the classmates who loved to give him strange food. They usually tried to feed him spicy things and this simply powered Phoenix a little every time.

"Everyone move outta the way!" Yuuki-sensei was rushing through the hallways making a beeline for the faculty office, a scraped up Smith-sensei being carried along with his arm over her shoulder. "Really Miss Hinata, I am not have been badly hurt." She didn't listen, of course, and dashed him straight inside without hesitation. Upon enterring the staff room, she looked around to find Hirako-sensei.

"Ah! Aya-senpai, we need your help!" Hirako-sensei stood from her chair after noticing the scrapes all over Smith-sensei with a worried expression. "What happened to him this time?!" "Please, do not be worried; just fallen down stairs little." Yuuki-sensei then blurted at him; "Yeah, a whole frickin' flight of them! What if you broke something?!"

"For now, why don't you sit him down and let me take a look? Still, given how many times he's fallen down the stairs already, I doubt he's hurt any worse than ever before; and he's never broken a bone from that for as long as he's worked here. I know you're one of the newer teachers here, Hinata-san, but please relax a bit on this particular matter. If anything, I'd say that Joey-san's clumsiness makes him stronger and able to take more with each fall." The nurse said all of this as she checked Smith-sensei's wounds after Yuuki-sensei sat him down as instructed. After finishing, she also added in a passive-aggressive manner; "I do wish he'd find some way to eventually stop falling and hurting himself in general though."

"Eheheheh, sorry sorry. Trouble seeming to likes me. Would you willing to forgive?" Letting out a sigh, Hirako-sensei responded; "Well, since you didn't break anything this time around either I guess I can let you off the hook. I swear, there's just something about you that makes it impossible to stay mad at you. Let me just go get some medical tape and gauze from my desk so your wounds don't get infected." What she said seemed to also relieve Yuuki-sensei, and she sat down at her own desk to dig in to her own lunch with the little remaining time that was left of the lunch period: a pair of rice balls that she pulled out from her own desk drawer. Everything that happened as well as how fast it all did seemed to completely overtake the other teachers, as they all seemed rather speechless.

After a short moment of awkward silence while Hirako-sensei wrapped up Smith-sensei's injuries, Fumisaki-sensei eventually spoke up; "Well, I'm glad that no one got seriously hurt, right?" Tohsaka-sensei nodded in agreement while eating her own bento, but Fukuyama-sensei seemed rather bothered by it. "We're lucky nothing bad happened! Seriously, how many times have I told you now, Smith, that you need
to be more careful and pay attention to your surroundings! If your clumsiness ends up causing harm to any of the students then it'll become an even more serious issue! Now if you'll all excuse me, I've finished my lunch and the bell will be ringing soon." With that comment he packed up his now empty lunch box, put it back inside his desk, grabbed the roster for his next class, and sure enough the first lunch bell signalling the end of lunch rang as he exited the room. All the other teachers, after releasing sighs of their own, began packing up their own finished lunches and heading to their respective classes. Yuuki-sensei pulled an energy bar from her desk and handed it to Smith-sensei on her way out; "Here ya go; since you didn't get the chance to eat." "Thanking you, Miss Hinata! I will delighted enjoying it!" She smiled in return and waved before heading off towards the gym.

After some time, though she didn't know how much time had passed, Kazami found herself walking out of a classroom without any success in finding people to join her cause. She sighed. "Why won't they listen? Must I take them by force? ...No, taking the school hostage would not do, for the children of the light might retaliate and he might come back." She shuddered at the thought of the student that ended her club coming back. "But no matter, I must find others that wish to join!"

In her mind's eye, Nyx began flapping her wings once more, hovering over the ground for a moment before taking off into the sky. She flew over hill and dale, through forests and past lakes. She flew, and continued to search for at least someone that would be willing to join her. She wasn't lonely, no. But she did want to take back what was stolen from her. Comradeship. Friendship. All stolen by her old enemy. She let out a huff at the thought and landed on the ground.

"Here me, here me! I come to you all too-" She was roughly shoved aside by someone as they exited the classroom for a bathroom break. "That is no way how to treat the goddess of the night," she muttered before continuing, "Here me, all of you! I come to ask for your help in rebuilding what has been lost! I come to you all, seeking others who will join me on this arduous task! The stars have aligned, the time is now! Here me, and speak if you want to help bring balance to the world!" She continued to speak, but no one listened. In the end, she had to exit the room, disheartened once more.

"Murr?" Nariko swallowed her food and looked at Aria with a grin. "It's fine, I sometimes forget to introduce myself too. It's a pleasure to meet you, Aria Sakai! Or, well, Skadiya. Which name do you prefer me to call you?" Pause. "Tell me, what is the realm you came from like? It must be an amazing place if they had someone like you coming from it!"

She began to imagine what the girl's home would look like. In her mind's eye, she saw a forest of pine trees towering over the ground that the boy was standing on. Kage couldn't help but look up at the tall trees that provided cool shade to the snow covered ground. He couldn't help but grin as he faced towards the towering mountain that created the snow coming down thickly. He closed his eyes and basked in the cool air before making his way up the mountain.

Nariko snapped out of her thoughts as she accidentally dropped her chopsticks into her bento. "Oh, whoops." She picked it up and began eating again, chewing thoughtfully on her food. She was more than happy to listen to the girl talk about her life while she responded in kind.

---Under-lived Meal---
"Whichever is easiest for you." Aria couldn't help but grin happily at their interaction; she was happy she could finally talk to someone like a friend again. She then picked her lunch back up and began eating. After a short moment of silence, the girl sure enough began asking about her again. Aria took a moment to think seriously about her answer before responding.

"It's cold and devoid of others for the most part, but there's plenty to survive on and the eternal wolves keep me company from time to time." Of course, this wasn't simply made up: she was describing how her home is typically empty but never devoid of food; as well as how she would frequently find stray dogs in the neighborhood and befriend them. When she saw Nariko spacing out and drop her chopsticks, the girl giggled a little. Not long after that, however, their time was cut short by the sound of the school bell. Time was running out for their reprieve, and the warrior sensed that others around them were beginning to congregate again.

Aria hadn't yet finished her meal, but nonetheless began packing it up. "Seems our lunch break is over. We'd better hurry off to class, lest we be tardy." With an attempt at sounding sophisticated, she wrapped her bento back up in the cloth it had been wrapped in initially and stood up. "Shall we go together, Hibeyachi-san?"

As she darted through the hallway, Yuuki-sensei noticed a student leaving a classroom with a disheartened expression on her face. Deciding that wouldn't do, she slowed down and approached the girl. "Hey, what's with the long face? Don't let the storm discourage you, as long as you keep fighting on you can clear the skies with the force of your willpower! Come now, how about a show of confidence?" She smiled cheerfully at the girl in an attempt to cheer her up. She then realized that she had been using an odd speech pattern, and tried to make up for it; "Ah, that probably didn't make any sense... eheheh. Um, I don't know what's got you down, but try not to let it get to you okay? I'm sure things will turn out alright in the end, you just gotta keep at it." She then noticed the time on the clock, and a sense of terror swept over her. "A-anyways, Sensei's gotta go, lest the Herald of Almighty Wrath have her at his mercy... bye!" With that, she dashed off towards the gym once more as the beginning of class was drawing near.

Kazami was wondering what to do next. No one was taking her seriously, and she would've considered talking like a normal person if she hadn't clung onto her persona so hard. It was her life and blood, the identity of a goddess trapped in a human's body. And she would fight to keep that identity, no matter the circumstances. Then she heard a voice.

In her mind's eye, a tiny will-o-wisp approached her. She gently cupped it in her hands and placed it close to her ear. The light whispered of a storm clearing its way for her by using her own power. She drunk in the words like water, and though she was a goddess of darkness, she knew such things were true and that she needed reminders at times. Yes, she will keep at it, even if she had to fight the battle that her senpais had fought against the archangel, the guardian of light.

"Thank you! I will keep that in mind!" she called out to the teacher and waved goodbye to her. Her hand stayed in the air for a few moments before dropping it to her side, but her smile hadn't faded away. The teacher really did get to her with her encouraging words and she took them to heart as she went back to her classroom, planning on how to get more followers.

"I see. I will call you by your true name, Skadiya-san," Nariko announced as she grinned at the girl. She remained silent as she answered the girl's question and listened, tilting her head to the side as she nodded at the girl. "Sounds lonely, perhaps I can visit it one day. I'm a traveler of sorts, going through different dimensions from time to time. I have a partner that comes with me too, she's called Michiko, but her true name is Tsubasa." She sighed happily as her mind began to reply one of her adventures.

In her mind's eye, he was out fighting the demons that crawled out from the gates of the Seven Hells. He panted with exertion as he used his shadows to trap and kill the demons he was fighting. He wasn't alone, though. His partner was there, flying through the skies and rending the demon horde with her sword. The two fought in perfect unison as they fought the many demons pouring out from hell...

She was jolted out of her reminiscing at the sound of the school bell. "Oh!" She began to eat a few more bites of her food hurriedly, managing to swallow to much and causing her to cough. "D-Don't worry, I'm fine," she coughed before clearing her throat and packing up her lunch. She then got up with her lunch in tow. "Let us leave, Skadiya-san. And, um, it's Hideyoshi." She kept a smile on her face though as the girls began to move back to class.

---Slip Of The Tongue---
Aria just barely held back an excited giggle upon hearing her new friend decide on what to call her. I guess coming up with Skadiya really paid off! I'm so happy to have made a new friend, and the existence of Skadiya is making it easier to deal with my appearance. I sure hope things keep going well! Almost as if in answer to her prayer, the girl offered visiting her home sometime after she explained what it was like. This kind of joy made her heart skip a beat, and she excitedly listened to the girl's tale of her adventure with her partner and wondered what kind of person this other girl was. The two were beginning to familiarize with each other, and the warrior listened to one of the traveler's own tales of his past with a partner of his. She expected that this person would be a trustworthy and valuable companion if such a person as Kage held such value in her, and wished to one day assimilate her into their company.

As they began to head out, Aria heard her friend begin to cough and looked back with a tinge of worry ever so slightly breaking through her expression, only to be quelled immediately by the girl's assurance of her well being. Aria held back a sigh as they turned and began walking. When Hideyoshi-san corrected her about her name, however, Aria was so overcome with embarrassment that she hurriedly muttered; "S-sorry..." before quickening her pace as much as she could in order to prevent her embarrassed face from being seen as they walked off towards class.

It was Monday evening, one week after the first day of classes. The school day was beginning to draw to a close, and all of the first year students were sitting through a special student assembly during which some lucky clubs were able to use the stage to advertise for their clubs to all of the new students in hopes of attracting new recruits as the school had just opened up club recruitment school-wide. The assembly itself was being held in the school's gym with the spectating student sitting on the floor and the participating clubs holding their displays on the gym's raised floor stage. The other upperclassmen students who were either not in clubs or whose clubs did not manage to get a slot in the assembly were sitting through their end of day homeroom as usual, waiting to either go home or get started with their own after school club member recruiting sessions.

Akemi sat down amongst numerous first-years like herself. She looked around and pointed out several sublime maidens mentally noting them for future reference. As the Queen of the underworld, Akemi...or the name she prefers to be called, "Vermillion". As a Queen with a large appetite, Vermillion would hunt unsuspecting maidens for both the pleasure and nutrition. By hunting these maidens, Vermillion would be eternally youthful and could continue reigning for as long as she wished. However, now on Earth, her hunting is limited and she now uses man-made subsistence that is known to have youthful properties. Akemi always had terrible acne so she would always use acne and blemish creams along with light makeup to hide such blemishes.

Some time had passed as Akemi had waited for the assembly to begin, she was quite an impatient girl, and felt like she had much better things to do, such as drawing, or stalking, or..sleeping... She glanced around more feeling somewhat uneasy, she could sense powerful auras, yet she was almost positive she was the only one around who was blessed with such magical traits. After all, she was a demonic queen from the Underworld.

She would wiggle in her spot impatiently, arguing with herself mentally. "This is boring...!" A effeminate, but masculine voice had echoed in her thoughts. "But we have to..." Akemi responded to the voice telepathically. "But, your majesty... I sense a presence that might hinder our work. We still have to finish what we started yesterday evening." Annoyed, the girl rolled her eyes, and then closed them, mentally chanting something. After the chant, the voice was silenced.

Nariko had a rather normal morning, with her mother preparing her lunch and then sending her off to school. School was also pretty boring and normal, with their classes taking up precedence and all. But then they were called to an assembly and she found herself on her way to the gym.

In her mind's eye, he was braving the plains full of strange creatures with a grim, but determined face. It was here that, supposedly, would lead him to the prophecy spoken in tales of old. The ancient prophecy cited by many that would determine the fate of the world, along with his fate. Squinting, he glanced at Skadiya with a tiny smile on his face. At least he wouldn't be alone.

"Skadiya, let's try and sit together," she said as they entered the gym and sat down. She was hoping that whatever club they were advertising, they would be good. Clubs, after all, were a place and time of bonding and she hoped she would be able to learn something new from them. She glanced over at Aria. And she'll do it with a friend, she didn't want to be alone in all this.

---Week of Options---
It was a week into the school year, and Aria was finally getting the hang of this new school, though physical education was still a prominent issue as usual. Still, she was managing fine thanks to her new and so far only friend within the school: Nariko. The two hadn't been able to hang out much outside of school yet, but Aria was still rather shy and wasn't mentally prepared to spend any more time with her new friend than their sharing lunch and walking partway home together.

It seemed that, starting this week, school clubs were beginning recruitment campaigns for new students, something she wasn't all too thrilled about. Clubs held a somewhat bitter place in her past, as she never really had the confidence to join one due to the emotionally crippling segregation she was exposed to during junior high. A week into the mighty tournament and it seemed none were faltering. After gaining footing, it appeared that many of the warriors were now gathering in search of suitable factions and guilds to join, but the mighty goddess herself did not have any strong inclinations to join any one that was not suitable for her. Joined by her comrade Kage she decided to observe the groups' showcases of ability to see if there were any that would fit the two of them.

Aria nodded when Nariko addressed her and followed her friend closely, doing her best to avoid touching or bumping into anyone. When they were all in the gym she followed Nariko to a spot with enough room for the two of them and sat next to her, wondering what kinds of club activities they'd get to see but not really expecting to find a club that would interest her. If anything she figured she'd probably just join anything Nariko decides on so as not to be separated, but of course she wouldn't admit something like that out loud for pure embarrassment.

Sagu stared out the window of the airplane.

The tapings of his foot echoed throughout the plane. To everyone else they might seem like the anxiousness of a teenage boy, but to Sagu, it meant his mind was alive. The plane had landed a long time ago, but a pileup on the runway had delayed the disembarkment. Sagu’s day hadn’t been the best of days. Between the 4-hour delayed flight, the extensive security check they made him go through, the turbulence, and now this. Sagu was sure there was some plot in the workings to stop him from touching onto Japanese soil.

Of course, there was a time when he could have avoided all of this and would have flown in on a flying chariot made of Air Elementals. Sagu was convinced that they were the real culprits behind these delays. But those days are over, ever sense Sagu had decided to move himself to this material plane called earth. His magic here was weakened and he was now forced to live most of his time in a mortal body. But not just any body, the body of a teenager. A teenager who had to go to school.

Sagu looked at his watch, he could see that school had already ended. Oh well, he thought, he would go tomorrow. Sagu yawned a bit as a flight attendant passed around complementary drinks. After an hour of waiting on the runway Sagu disembarked the plane. The terminal was mildly dense with people coming and going. Most gave Sagu a wide birth, between his height, dark skin, and muscular frame he looked imposing as he pushed through the crowd. After Sagu retrieved his luggage, he pulled out a piece of paper with an address, his new home. Sagu’s mother and sister had been in Tokyo for a few weeks before Sagu.

The streets were confusing as they are beautiful. The Cherry blossoms were in full bloom. The reminded Sagu of the Jacaranda trees back in America. Walking down the street he imagined how these people would view him In his full godly visage, and not his weak mortal form. None the less, Sagu walked around for an half hour before stopping a pedestrian walking down the street towards him for directions.

Kazami was packing things up as the day at school was ending. She had a stony look on her face as thoughts clouded in her head. Today was the day that the assembly for students' clubs were held and she was hoping she would get a spot in it. Not so, she wasn't even allowed near the gym and it frustrated her to no end that she couldn't go there.

In her mind's eye, the Empress couldn't help but look up at the sky full of pure white birds. Her wing had been injured when she tried to land on her feet, landing on the wing instead and skidding to a halt. Flapping did no good, for she was still hurt. Her good wing shifted a little as she gazed up at the white birds of hope, wanting to take them under her wing.

"There," she huffed as she packed everything up, "The Dark Empress is done." She got up and stretched a little. "Now, what to do...?" Her thoughts went back to the school assembly and her frown slowly turned into a smirk. Perhaps she can go there after all. Maybe no one would notice her if she snuck in... Shouldering her bag, the second year student began making a beeline for the gym.

Hearing the school bells that signalled classes are finally over, Miyako began packing her stuff into her bag before sighing. It been a week since the first day of school and a week since she met Meiko. She and that girl sure get along but that doesn't mean Miyako trusts her. "Just because Satoshi likes her doesn't mean I like her either" Besides, its not that she hates her! It's just that she was just being cautious. She could be a spy of a red queen! Or an assassin! It's hard for Miyako to trust others easily. For Miyako, everyday is a test of loyalty for Meiko. She wanted that girl to prove that she really isn't working with the red queen.

"Speaking of Meiko.." Miyako looked around her class only to see Meiko missing. That girl is usually around since the three of them walk together when going home! The odd disappearance suddenly sent alarm bells ringing through out Miyako.

"Satoshi!" She called out, grabbing her bag and walking to where her cousin is. "Have you seen Meiko? She disappeared didn't she? Oh. I knew it! She's working with the red queen! How dare she! Trying to fool me that she's not a spy. Oooh! I'll going to trap her in my card and throw her away! Come! We must find her before she divulge where my location is!"

Aside from Miyako and now Meiko, the only other student Satoshi knew by name was the class representative. The other boy was quite concerned about Satoshi's grades, which the latter felt grateful for despite not understanding the need.

"...and these are from English class. You really need to work on this, you're close to failing," class representative said as he placed his last of the pile of papers he put on Satoshi's desk. Satoshi looked from the papers to class representative.

This had gone for years. If not for Miyako's help and the class representative's notes, he would not have gotten far at all.

"Thank you," his low voice sounded a bit like a grunt.

"Thank me when you pass. Jeez, Maru-kun. Don't rely on your cousin forever," class representative turned away to pack his own things.

"Do you want me to rely on you, then?" Satoshi stood up and tilted his head at the class representative. The other boy froze and Satoshi chuckled a little. Humans liked to play heroes for each other. He took the next guess to the representative's motives.

"I won't tell Miyako you like her. I will keep your secret." Satoshi nodded, satisfied with his detective skill and giving Phoenix a mental high-five.

"You idiot-!" class representative protested but Satoshi had turned to Miyako and was no longer interested in him. Upon being asked, he looked around slowly.

"Ah," he said to his left.

"Ah!" he said to his right.

"She vanished." He looked to Miyako with wide eyes and a gaping mouth. He mentally cursed being distracted by the class representative and wheeled about once more. He thought for a moment. He was quite sure that Meiko was a normal mortal. She could not have teleported. If she had gone outside, it meant she was close. It would be a waste of time to wander about looking for her if she was fast enough to have gotten away while class representative was ranting.

"Wait!" Satoshi held Miyako by the hand to stop her from leaving. He aggressively pulled the class representative to face them. This made the class representative stumble a little too close.

"Where is Meiko-san?" he demanded, almost like a threat. But the class representative was used to both cousins' antics. "I don't know why you'd think I know, but she'd be having a demo with the other clubs, I suppose."

Satoshi let him go and pulled Miyako. "Come. I'll lead."

They brushed past confused seniors and marched down the stairs.

In the gym, the assembly was proceding smoothly, and everyone was appearing to be having fun as the clubs showed off what they did in their own little skits. Standing behind the curtains overseeing everything were Fukuyama-sensei with a clipboard in hand ensuring that everyone was kept on schedule and that everything was being done in a timely manner, calling out for clubs to begin preparing within certain times before they go on; "Karate Club, you're on stage in 2 minutes!", and Yuuki-sensei helping the students to actually gather up whatever props they were using as well as offering morale support and helping to get them excited and kick any stage fright they might have; "Okay warriors, let's show those first years some fighting spirit! OOOH!
Alrighty, what'll sensei be carrying out for you?" Thanks to their combined traits, things were done efficiently while still retaining the fun expected, which worked out well since they were randomly chosen simply because Fukuyama-sensei was one of the homeroom teachers for first years (the best one with time management) and because Yuuki-sensei didn't teach any homerooms and they were using her gym.

While the two of them worked behind the scenes of the stage, the other teachers who had homerooms with first years were standing in the gym monitoring the students so they'd stay put and not cause any issues while their coworkers teaching the other classes carried on as usual. One such Smith-sensei was, as usual, the center of attention
in his own homeroom, and though there were many students surrounding him he still noticed when Kazami snuck out of the class. Well, I'm sure she'll behave herself while she's out. It won't hurt if I let her enjoy herself a bit, he thought with a smile.
