Kingdom Hearts: Covenant Oath

Rita watched as the past Guardian tapped his cane to his chin. She couldn't help but wonder what was going through his head. While he contemplated the questions, she tried to think of her own. What did she want to know exactly? Would their questions be answered once they started the trials anyways? Or was there more secrecy around the whole trials like Prisca mentioned. She looked over at her friends then back at her shield. No matter the case, she was going to protect her friends.

Maxxi simply shrugged at Kat's question before looking at Prisca, wagging a finger at her. "I did say one question child but since none of your friends want to ask questions I suppose I will answer both of yours." The man walked up to Prisca and then leaned on his cane. "The main thing you need to know about this trial is that the closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes. As for the secrecy, this is meant to be journey so if you had all the keys to begin with you wouldn't learn to grow now would you?" He chuckled before walking away from the group towards a door that suddenly appeared.

Pointing at the door with his cane, he looked over the group before speaking. "Beyond this door lies your trial. But before you leave, groups of three are partnered up. So how about we have a little fun shall we? Boys vs Girls! The first group to finish the trials might get something special. But do keep in mind this is still a team effort. And to remind you, you will be going to a reflection when the Last City was first attacked by the unverse. You must get through the maze that is the town to find the temple where you will get your keyblades ans from there fight your way to the palace of heart where you will fight your way to the crystal to recite the Covenant Oath. Once you're ready, feel free to walk through the door."

Rita couldn't shake the feeling that something seemed odd about the door. As her friends went in one by one, Rita was hesitant to go through. When it was finally her turn to go through, she walked up to the door cautiously feeling a sense of dread wash over her. Before she could take another step, darkness crept through the door opening it wide open and engulfing Rita. She tried to see if anyone saw her but it appeared they hadn't notice anything out of the ordinary. In fact it just looked like she was standing in front of the door. She thrashed around trying to get out of the darkness's grip but instead it tighten around her and shoved her through the door.

When Rita opened her eyes, she was standing at the gates of the city with her friends but she that feeling of dread hadn't left her. She felt her shield in her hand and remembered the trials had now officially begun. She looked over at Kat and Prisca, her two partners, and walked up them smiling at the boys as she did so. "What's the plan guys?" she asked looking over at the gate. She didn't have to be a full fledged Guardian already to feel the presence of the unverse gathering beyond the gate.

 

[MYTH*]

It seemed to Ferr that everyone was ready. Or, at least they had their respective weapons. Strolling over to Rita, Ferr bounced his shield off of her's with a smirk. "It looks like we are...shield-siblings." Ferr was not the funniest guy among them, nor had the quickest mind for jokes. However, this was one of those rare instances where he had the material and it was staring him in the face. "Make sure to keep it up high, right at chest level." Ferr would then lung forward and raise the shield up to his chest, mocking how he thought using a shield should be used. For an armature with a shield, Ferr handled the shield well.

As the phantom memory known as Maxxi began to explain the trails, Ferr stood back up and a small thump began to rhythmically bounce in his chest. Excitement? Most definitely. The tan boy tapped Rita on her should before looking back at the other guys. Girls versus boys, huh? Ferr was up to that challenge. "You boys ready to become men? I know I am."

As soon Maxxi said they could go through, Ferr jumped towards the door. With both hands, he grabbed the door handles and planned to fling them open with grandeur. However, a small shiver ripped the excitement from his body. The energy that was pulsating from Ferr cessed. Instead of flinging the doors open, he gentle opened them, stepping through.

Through a tunnel of light, Ferr appeared at the gates. The Last City was...not totally shitty.

Adjusting his shield, Ferr looking over the night sky, it was still filled with some stars. Maybe...Maybe his home was up there somewhere? One by one the others followed. "Ea, Tai. What do you think? I take lead and gather attention while you come in from behind and take them out? Or stick together in a V-formation?"

Priscan Iscariot ​

"I suppose old man." Kat's question had a more intriguing answer than Prisca's. The closer they get to the light, greater their shadow would be. Sounds simple sure, but this obviously meant something deeper. Prisca would need to be ready to fight demons, possibly her own. Maxxi walked away from the group of teens and toward a door that had suddenly appeared. Their trail was behind the door and ready to enter at any time, but first, Maxxi would hold a little contest between them. Boys versus girls, a stupid idea to Prisca and she would let it be known. "I wish I knew you would make us do something so unoriginal as this." Prisca was bitter over being stuck with the girls, being one has scorned her once again. "Still won't lose." Prisca walked toward the door with the others and entered the tunnel of light.

Prisca appeared in at the gates of the Last City and in the memory of the first attack by the Unversed. Prisca looked toward he to partners and glace at the opposing team. She saw this as a competition, helping the boy wouldn't be on the top of her to-do list. Prisca wasn't smiling, she was rather serious and ready to get on with this trial. When Rita asked what they should do, Prisca walked up towards the door and raised her hand and pushed on the gates. "First things first, we open this gate so we can advance." She had no interest in the night stars, no interest in memories of lost worlds. "Come on girls, we aren't losing to those dorks." She motions to boys and walked through the gates before her.

Her question was seemingly blown off making Kat mumble something under her breath. Turning to Rita and Prisca the girl followed in behind them. Coming into view entirely she took in the city scape before tilting her head. "Looks like home." Kat spoke before blinking several times and rubbing her head. "Headache... Why a headache." She mewled out before finally regaining her focus. Hearing the guys speaking next to her she then turned as Prisca spoke up and took to lead. Looking to the girls she held a hand up ad began to mess with the light of the street lamps.

Casting a shadow behind her she turned and faced it. The shadow grew larger before it distorted as Kat walked. Walking alongside the group she couldn't help but feel like the competition would not be the best idea. "Uhm.. well, why not work together as a whole. That way no team wins over the other and we breeze through this." Kat spoke trying to mediate it somewhat. Taking a deep breath she felt that it was going to turn into a competition either way. "Well, either way... we need to be careful."

"Move your ass Ferr!" Tai yells already dashing behind Ea as they approach the city gates "hey, Ea!" Tai says running up to Ea's side "do you think the geezer was just joking when he sai...gha!" Tai yells as one of the smaller Universe lunges at him and clings to his arm causing to Tai to stop and shake the creature off his arm. "Kill the cute shadow mokeys, open the gate, win the race , and rub it into Prisca's face" Tai says before lunging towards the Unverse and begins to slash through a few as he pushes towards the gate.

As Tai reaches the gate before looking back at Ea "you know how to pick a lock?!" Tai yells as he continues to fend off unverse

Rita nodded gripping the handle of her shield tight. She looked over at Kat to say something but tilted her head noticing the peculiar shape of the girl's shadow. Curious, she looked at the other's shadows but nothing seemed too out of place. She wasn't sure what was happening to Kat but she was a bit worried. Then out of the corner of her eye she saw those weird figures again.

But this time they were only three of them dashing through the gate fending off the unverse with their replica weapons. One of the shapes happened to be grabbed by an unverse dragged off. Rita could make out a familiar face but before she could point a name to it, the shades vanished. Rita snapped back to reality in time to notice some unverse pouring out of the gate. Her eyes grew wide as an unverse latched onto Tai and didn't seem to want to let go. Quickly she bashed the unverse away with her shield as another unverse tried to lunge at her. She brought the shield up in time to deflect it's attack then countered the monster's attack with another shield bash. As more unverse started to gather around her, she felt a sense of deja vu.

She returned her thoughts to the battle going on and spinned herself fast with her shield stretched out. The unverse around her vanished one by one before she steadied herself. This thrill of battle felt different yet familiar to Rita, all her attacks almost made her feel like she was someome else. She never practice as hard as Prisca and them a day in her life yet she was fending off the unverse like she was a seasoned warrior. It all felt odd to her. She looked over at Kat and Prisca as they finished their group of unverse.

The gate suddenly opened, allowing the groups passage into the city. In the distance, she could see a girl walking deeper into the city. "Guys there's someone else here besides us, maybe they're here for the trials too! We should join up with her since more the merrier right?" Rita pointed towards the girl only to have had her vanish from sight. "I swear she was there. . ." she said, following everyone into the town.

As they ventured further into the town, Rita couldn't help but stare at Prisca who had taken the lead. She wanted to bounce right up next to her and grab her hand as if they were together. But she just laugh the thought off knowing Prisca would probably just ignore her or get annoyed since she was in full competition mode. But she looked over at Kat and smiled. The girl didn't scold her or call her a crybaby when she held her hand through the darkness. Maybe Rita was a helpless romantic but she could tell she was starting to develop some feelings for the stranger. Feelings that she felt she had before. Why was everything starting to feel like deja vu?

With more confidence than he had with the weapon selecting, Ea stepped up toward the doors with his friends and comrades. The trials were beginning. With a crack of his neck and knuckles, he listened to Maxxi until finally they were given the go. Guys vs girls, huh? Ea would have thought it would be easy if he didn't know better. Prisca was not someone to underestimate, and neither was Rita. Kat, he didn't know anything about, but if she was here, she certainly would have some redeeming quality within her. "Am I ready? I've been ready." Giving Ferr and Tai a quick glance and a sideways grin, he bolted off after Ferr pushed the door open.

Poor Ferr had been trying to think strategically, and Ea and Tai seemed to have another idea: smash though anything that stood in their way. With the staff in hand, Ea could feel the buzz of magical energy course through him. The training he had gone through as a kid in order to harvest this magical ability was all coming back to him. Though, he raised the staff and swung it like a damn baseball bat. The bulk of the staff hit the small unversed that had leaped at Tai and sent it flying off to the side.

"Nnno, I think he was serious." Ea responded, watching Tai slash through toward the gate.

Okay, maybe Ferr was right on this one. Maybe they should have some kind of strategy.

Ea looked back to Ferr and nodded. "V-formation. We'll pick off anything that bounces off your shield." He looked back to Tai and the gate. "You sure it's even locked?" He called back, eyes widening as a couple small Unversed jumped toward him. He blocked with the staff, then changed his grip to slash at them, making them disperse as soon as they were hit. The gate opened, and Ea looked up. Prisca had reached it first. Well it was one point to the girls, it seemed. They had to make up the score fast.

Ea nodded to Ferr to go on through first, then followed suit behind him to Ferr's left. He hoped that Tai would follow along with the formation, making it easier for whatever they would face after going through the gate. City. More of the city. The city looked very similar, albeit less destroyed. Ea felt that he may know the layout still... unless it had changed for some reason. "They're going that direction. Let's veer right then."

PRISCA ISCARIOT

The groups press through the gate off and deeper into the city. They would need to stay vigilant against the Unverse, the number of Unverse in the city were countless. The Unverse proved that when one lunged at Tai. These creatures alone shouldn't be a problem, but in massive numbers they were dangerous. As they gathered around them, each person had their own to eliminate. She gripped her sword handle and attack the Unverse before her. They were easy, these creatures were child's play, and only a few Unverse stood before them. "If you can't handle these things Tai, best turn tail and run." She harmless tease to her competition. "Same goes for the rest of you stupid boys.


After the battle, Rita said something about another girl, someone she saw deeper in the city. "Really?" She looked around her and into the city to see nothing ahead. "I don't see anything Rita. Maybe it's just your eyes playing tricks." She said writing what she said off. "Then again Rita, it could be apart of our trial. The spirit had his lips sealed when it came to the trial." She would keep an eye out for someone, but winning was her main concern.

As they walked the city, Prisca knew this was her city. All that was missing was the boarded up windows, doors, roaches, trash and everything else that she knew of the last city. "The world looked some much more appealing before the darkness, sucks we live in the aftermath." She commented glancing back at her team.

TAI

"let me check!" Tai says while fending off the unversed before leaping onto the gate and climbs up but stops when he see's a woman standing in the city "gha! Get off!" Tai yells while he kicks one of the unverse as it climbs onto his leg. "Nope its not locked!" He yells while the gates swing open with him on it. "dammit Prisca! It was my turn to be one like 'turn tail and run' " Tai says copying her tone before leaping off of the gate next to her. "Nope, Ritas right, i saw someone too , she was totally checking me out" Tai says before cutting a few unverse that were behind them. "Keep them safe alright" Tai says to Prisca as he walks back to his group. "Oh, and welcome to the band Kat, to bad your on the losing side " Tai says before catching up with Ea and Ferr​

 

[MYTH*]

Ferr smiled as Ea took his place beside the broader warrior. "Good! Cause I plan on having this shield get real bent!" The Guardian roared as he bolted through the lines of unversed. With each step, a faint aura of energy wrapped itself around his form. Ferr kept his head ducked behind the mystical shield, allowing his powerful charge to deal the majority of the damage to the monsters of negativity. "Ea, so which way we going anyway!?" Ferr asked as Tai was on his way, sure to complete their formation.

Suddenly, from the right flank, an unversed grabbed onto Ferr and attempted to force the guardian to the ground. "Get off, you mongrel!" Ferr spun his shield around, bashing the creature in the face...head...? This brings up a good question for Ferr. Was that a face? Or just an ornamental design of a face? Well, either way, his shield made contact with it. With a continuing rotation, Ferr launched his shield into another approaching unverse. The shield bounced off it, launching back at him. Ferr quickly caught the disk-shaped shield and punched the unverse in the...face(?) again.

As Prisca glanced back, another unversed appear behind her. It lunged at her, but it was hard to sneak up on the young woman. She clenched the grip of her sword and with swiftness, she quickly spun around and hacked the creature in two. "Sneaky little buggers." As the unversed dissipated, even more of them came from the shadows to do battle. "This is going to get annoying quick." Prisca gripped her sword with both hands and charged into battle. She mustn't waste time if she wanted to beat the boys.

One of the unversed swiped at her with its black claws. She parried the creature simple attack and thrust her sword through its head. In the process, she couldn't help but imagine it as Wayne Towers's ugly face. She would never do it, but a girl can dream, right? As Prisca did battle with two more Unversed, three of them appeared behind her. They slipped by here during the fight in shadow form and had jumped on her back and pinned her down. "Shit." Prisca said as her entire body hit the hard pavement. She struggled but they hung on tight, claws digging into the woman's back. She wouldn't say it, but she would love it if Rita could give her a hand or better yet, a shield.

TAI

"heads up" Tai says while he tosses a small rock into the air before he uses his sword like a bat to send the rock strait into the Unversed that was on Prisca's back and stunning it for a few secondes.
"Thats a good look for you Prisca" Tai says with smirk "I wish i ha......Gah!" He yells getting knocked down from another unversed that was behind him. "Bastard" he says under his breath before turning over and slicing the unversed as it jumped for him. He quickly stands up and runs back over to Ea and Ferr "took you long enouph Ferr.....whoa!" Tai yells as Ferr punches the unversed. "Come on dude!" Tai says thrusting his sword into the Unversed. "Just use your weapons man, they just go poof, it seems kinda like animal abuse..like hitting a dog or something" he says before retuning to his postion and fending off Unversed on his end .

"You guys think we should wait for the others?" Tai says looking back towards Rita and the others. "Hm" Tai turns his head when he hears a soft buzzing noise coming from one of the buildings. An old computer monitor turns on revealing two pink neon eyes looking at Tai before looking up which cause Tai to do the same. "Shi..." without saying a word Tai kicks Ferrs shield and pushes Ea to the side just as a large unversed crashes into the street. "What the hell is that" Tai says looking back at the large unversed as it stands back up towering over the three

Everything seemed to happen so fast for Rita. Before she could give Prisca a hand, Tai had already lended her a hand. She could only imagine what the older girl would think of her. Probably useless and dead weight to the team. Though she gripped her shield and rushed at the nearest unverse bashing it with all her pent up frustration. After the initial bash, the unverse was staggered a little trying to catch it's balance but Rita had gripped the sides of her shield with her hands and hammered the unverse with it until it disappeared. She hated this feeling of uselessness, she hated knowing that it was that same uselessness that kept Prisca from actually looking at her the same way she looked at the older girl. But that was her role in their group right? The girl that couldn't hold her own and needed someone else's protection.

No, she was a keyblade wielder now. She had the power to protect others and fight for herself. At least that what she told herself as she slammed her shield against another unverse. Suddenly it dawned on her, where was Kat? She quickly scanned the area for the mysterious girl but she didn't seem to be anywhere in sight. "Where's Kat?" She said almost absently. The one person that didn't make her feel inadequate was gone and Rita couldn't help but feel a deep sadness for some reason. For some reason it had felt like she lost someone very dear to her but they had only just met. Rita shook the feeling off as she blocked an attack from an unverse. As she finished it off, she heard Tai yell something.

Her eyes widen at the large unversed before them. They only ever saw the small unversed and the sight sort of boggled her mind. If they were this large there was no telling what other unversed were waiting for them. Holding up her shield, she decided to rush the large creature. She wanted to do something and didn't want Prisca or the others to think she was just there to take up space. Plus the quicker they dealt with it, the sooner they could figure out where Kat had gone off too. With a running start, she charged at the unverse with all her might only to be knocked back into something. . . or someone.

Prisca Iscariot

"Thanks, you little punk!" Like a volcano, Prisca erupted and through the Unversed of her back. Prisca then started slashing every unversed she saw with her crimson eyes alongside Rita. She wasn't upset with her partner's lack of help, she was fighting like a warrior now and that's what matters. "Good job, Rita, now keep it up and I'll be a proud momma." As they fought through the annoying gnats they knew as the unversed, Prisca was starting to feel pretty sure of herself again. "This is so easy, I can't believe I let one of them get the drop on me earlier." Prisca like Rita noticed their other team member had vanished. " I swear if that girl is hiding, I'll kick her tight little ass."

Once clearing out their batch of unversed, a new type appeared to face them. It had attacked the boys out of nowhere. To Prisca surprise, Rita was the first to charge the creature in an attempt to help the boys. Prisca smiled proudly at the girl's determination. "Come on, wait for me." Prisca said running after her partner to provide backup. She wanted to end the larger unversed before Tai or any of the boys could, it was time for the girls to be their knights in shining armor.

Rita charged at the unversed and slammed into the creature fat belly only to be forced back and into her, knocking Prisca off balance for a second. She quickly regained her footing and stopped Rita from falling on her ass. "Oh, I see." She said letting Rita go and ran at the creature. She then moved towards the side, catching the unversed attention. "Eyes on me fatty."

The large unversed followed Prisca and threw a punch her way, only for Prisca to block it with her sword. The punch was blocked but she was still pushed back by the unversed strength. Even with two hands being used to block it, she thought it would knock her weapon from her only for a moment. "Attack it's back or sides, a frontal attack ain't gonna be too effective!" She yelled at whoever would follow her order. She would love to be the one to do it, but someone needed to draw its attention.
