Everyone needs friends and support. Even Monster Hunters, though many of them could be found to be bent on either revenge or genocide. That’s why there were Hunter Conferences all throughout the country. A day for Hunters to get together and compare tactics, talk about what needed to be done about Monsters, and share in an obviously completely healthy fixation. It was a big day for many Hunters. Lots of them used it to find allies, or make themselves known. Hunter Conferences also gave people a chance to draw attention to their concerns. These people and their concerns, well, the Hunters didn’t care very much. Various ethics boards had issues with Hunters killing once-human Monsters.

Of course, there was another group who had issues with Monsters being killed. The Monsters themselves. Most of them were completely capable of all the things they had been as humans, and plenty of them didn’t want to die. Lots of them wanted to go back to living their normal lives. With Monster Hunters running around, this was nearly impossible. Monster Hunter Conferences were a cause for great alarm throughout the Monster community. Hunters would band together after these conferences, join groups. Many would experiment with new tactics. If Monsters weren’t careful, they were in even more danger than normal.

One of the many Hunter conferences took place in the city of Latro. It was practically a mockery for the conference to be held there of all places. Latro was a sort of unofficial Monster capitol, filled with so many different kinds of Monsters it was hard to keep track. It was paradise for Monsters, but easy hunting for Hunters who ventured there. Many Monsters lived and hid there, keeping low profiles or going underground, sometimes quite literally. The city was large and diverse, filled with enough human oddballs that the Monsters were normally able to hide just fine. Normally. A Hunter convention was one such occasion that qualified as not normal.

Sabrina Braveheart - Down Town Latro. - Monster Hunter Secret Headquarters.

20 minutes early, she was 20 minutes early to the summons. Sabrina had always made a habit of proper planing, but with things going smoother than she had imagined she was a head of schedule. So she figured she'd have a look around, maybe meet some people. Armed only with a long javelin (or more accurately, a pole with a long, barbed, monster quill tied at the end of it), and what could be called her wit, She took her time to explore the structure. Eventually, she had reached her destination... The Conference room, and it seemed that she was the first to arrive. "Well, that's what happens when your 15 minutes early I guess" she sighed to herself. With nothing else to do, Sabrina thought it best to stay put and wait for the others to arrive to the summons. She thought for a moment about just who these people might be, only to come to the conclusion that she... had no clue what so ever. Was she even in the right place?

Death Spike - Latro Sewer System

Some where in the cool, muggy, smelly labyrinth of concrete and steel would be a lone hunter. Lost, alone, and pinned in a trap of poisonous quills, he squirmed and trembled to escape from his impending demise. "Oh god, why did I have to come here by my self? Why don't I listen to anyone?" His self realization was interrupted by the sounds of sloshing foot steps... Something was coming, Was it another human maybe? Could it be one of his fellow hunters sent to help him? "Hello? Is anyone there?" he cried out. What responded, was the reason he was down here...

"♪~Foolish little hunter, where have you gone now?
♪~Upstream? Or downstream? Or stuck inside my quill traps?
♪~There I met a human, who thought they were a man.
♪~I tore him into shreds, and cooked him in a pan!"

Death spike might not seem like the musical type (nor is he even that good a singer), but he knows how to rattle his prey before he eats it. In is right claw he was holding another already dead hunter, dragging its corpse through the grey-water. The other hunter gazed upon the hooded creature with a mix of disbelief and absolute horror. Completely speechless, he tried to fire at the beast with his desert eagle. But Death Spike 'smacked' each shot with the quilled side of his tail, "Even if that did work, you are still going to die" Death spike said to the dying man, with a smug toothy grin. He then dropped the corpse and launched a quill into the trapped hunter's heart, killing them instantly. Death spike had been camped out in the sewers for a few weeks now, the already pungent stench of it helped mask his own fowl stink. It was both a great base camp, and the perfect hunting ground. After he is finished with his meal here, he will reset this trap (which was made from his discarded quills, and any other trash that some how made it down here) and then check the 15 others he had set.

Sun Flare - Latro City Limits

6 days of walking, along with 1 night without sleep. Sun Flare had come far from the next town over. With no where to really call home, all he could really do is keep moving and keep himself sustained. A task that is easier said than done, especially seeing his only real source of cash is from thugs and drunk hunters that were dumb enough to attack him. Needless to say, those people weren't around any more. Though money was not the only problem, it was his appearance that also seemed to put people off. Dressed in a large, hooded leather cloak, his attire wasn't that much different than that of Death Spike... Though He had no knowledge of who that was or that they even exist. Despite the fact he spent most of his time in his human form while on the road, some (albeit only a handful) were still able to tell that he was indeed one of the freaks they feared so much. Sun Flare didn't care though, so long as they left him be he didn't give a damn what they thought about him. As he continued towards Latro City, something small, black, white-pawed, and furry made a sound from on top of his head... "~Mew?". Sun Flare Sighed and spoke to the kitten. "Don't tell me, you're hungry again aren't you?" the kitten sprawled on top of his head and starred purring, as if to confirm what had been said to it. Sun Flare groaned, food was hard to come by before this thing started following him around... but now he has another mouth too feed as well. "Hold on for a little longer, we are almost there." He would say to the little cat, for one reason or another he just could't get rid of the little guy. Might as well hold on to him until he could find someone who could better care for it than he could. Given his life style, having a pet is a bad idea. Sun Flare made sure to keep his hood down at all times, no matter which form he was in.

- Hazel Anika Farrow - Latro City Limits - Current Phoenix Base of Operations -
- Interactions: Clive Brixton -
The hustle and bustle of the city outside was nothing compared to the rampage that was the inside of the new Phoenix base. They had just moved locations in preparation for the Hunter conference, not wanting to risk the place that they had been residing in for over a year getting busted open with so many Hunters roaming the city.

It was a risk, but one that Hazel was willing to take, if only to protect the civilians they'd taken under their wings.

They had set up in an abandoned warehouse complex at the edge of the city, sneaking their people and as much of their possessions as they could through the sewer. The rest was transported via moving truck the night before.

The girl in question was overseeing the setup of their clinic/labs, a small warehouse at the center being used for such an important step. Expensive machinery, most of it stolen from hospitals and other labs, was being pushed and lifted into corners and against walls, and hospital cots were being set up in neat rows in preparation for the possibility of sickness or injury.

Hazel was perched above the rush, crouching on the railing of a catwalk with her wings folded to her back and her sharp eyes tracing the figures below. One of those figures was Clive, a former doctor turned scientist, who was directing the setup of his own equipment.

Her wings twitched and she finally spread them, jumping off of the catwalk and gently gliding down to the floor below. She landed next to Clive quietly and was silent for a few moments before speaking."Everything going well?"The leader of Phoenix questioned, looking over the machinery that all looked too complex for her to even know where to start using it.

Clive was a newer addition to their team, and he'd swiftly risen through the ranks to become one of her few trusted fellow leaders. She'd put him in charge of the labs and the medical section, allowing him to continue his own work as he did so. They'd become friends by that point, and though she knew he had the move under control, she knew they were probably both stressed about the risk.

Maybe a short visit would help calm her nerves, or at least put her mind at rest about this warehouse in particular.

Acadia Finch Carson - Latro Slums -
- Interactions: None -
It was a cold day, and Acadia had just gotten her first meal of the day, even at 3 PM. The loose sweatshirt she wore gave the impression that she was well-fed, but in reality, it hung loosely from her bony frame. Short blue-green hair framed her face from under the black hood, and dull eyes peered out from under furrowed brows and above dark rings.

She was sitting on a pile of boxes in an alleyway, the backpack that contained all her worldly possessions sitting at her feet. A paper bowl of soup resided in her thin hands, the steam from it rising and warming her wind-chapped face and turning her cheeks almost pink.

Acadia ate, the broth warming her belly and leaving heat blooming in her chest. It felt....good.

Almost longingly, she tipped her face up to the sky. It was a good day for a flight. If only she could, without the risk of dying.

Wisely, she was staying away from the Phoenix move, knowing that her being there would just increase the chance of the group getting caught. Besides, with the Hunters in town, any peep from a monster would cause tons of pain for everyone.

She sighed, closed her eyes, and tipped her head back against the wall behind her, listening idly to the shuffling of the other homeless people around her.

It was sick. All the Hunters were in town. It would be so easy, so simple to just fly in and destroy them all, but it wasn't something that she could do alone- and Phoenix wasn't on board. Hazel had just frowned at her when she'd tried to approach her with the idea, lecturing her on their 'code'- again- and reminding her that they were a vigilante and refugee group, not a terrorist organization.

Fine. Acadia had waited for three years for this moment, but she could wait for one more....and for more allies.

Another chance would come. Eventually.

Naomi Hunter - Downtown Latro - Monster Hunter Secret Headquarters
Interactions: Sabrina Braveheart

Blasting through the stereo of a 1991 Nissan R32 Skyline 4-Door sedan was Mariya Takeuchi's Plastic love at near full volume. Usually when this car was on the street it meant a Monsters inevitable demise, more often than not via decapitation. Occasionally, you could find it in the parking lot of your local mall or Vietnamese restaurant. Today one could find it in the Latro downtown parking structure, just a couple blocks down from the local monster hunter secret headquarters. She walked briskly through the downtown sidewalks, her presence parting civilians like they were the red sea.

As if her signature japanese schoolgirl outfit wasn't enough to identify her, the Katanas, sniper rifle and magnum revolvers were a dead giveaway. In only a years time she developed a respectable reputation among the people of Latro, who always felt a lot safer when she was around. Even Monsters themselves felt at ease when she was around, seeing as Naomi wasn't one to discriminate and would quickly knock someone upside the head if they were to harass an innocent civilian, Monster or not. Such an incident occurred daily in Latro, a sword to the neck being the perfect remedy to ensure a discriminator think twice next time they feel like harassing another.

One didn't maintain a 4.0 GPA attending an Ivy-league school with a habit of being late to anything. Naomi considered the hunter conferences to be very informative in regards to the latest Monster occurrences in the area and the means in which to handle them. She also wasn't fond of not staying in the loop all things monster hunting related, such as any up and coming Hunters in the city that may interfere with business, any newfound weakness or tactics to apprehend or dispose of specific types of monsters.

They would usually end the conference by displaying a list of the cities most wanted monsters and the reward for their bounty along with their last known area of activity. Although capturing a monster alive resulted in a higher reward, Naomi found that humans weren't the best at containing most monsters and would rather bring their head in than see one back on the street, although there were many occasions she would go through the trouble of apprehending one alive, usually by special request from a family member.

The conferences were split between two groups: Civilians and Monster Hunters. For some reason or another Hunters had a habit of showing up late, whereas concerned people of the public were practically shoving one another to reach the microphone and voice their concerns, mainly the hunting of family members turned monster. Naomi entered behind two Hunters who seemed to be partners and garnered little to no attention from the group of civvies, where as Naomi's presence brought some cheering, light applause, heavy murmuring and even several people pleading for an autograph, which she was always happy to oblige thanks to the barriers setup which if not for those would lead to someone getting knocked upside the head.

Seeing as there weren't even a handful of Hunters in attendance yet, it was easy to notice instantly the young blonde hunter sitting by herself. However, what really begged Naomi's attention was her weapon of choice; a javelin that brought a reminiscent feeling of her days in high school track. She had never considered the idea of utilizing one as a hunting weapon, the concept intrigued her and she approached

"That's cool," she stated blankly "Pretty clever, are those quills poisonous by any chance?" The idea of hurling one of those into a Monster's chest was pleasing, not necessarily in a sadistic way, more so as a means of doing business.

Alex Mercer - Latro Slums
Interactions: Acadia Finch

The Latro Slums was an area Alex had become all too familiar with. He had lost count of the many criminals, human and mutant alike, he had apprehended there, both as a street cop and detective. The Slums were located inbetween Downtown and the southern city limits, the northern city limits being Latro's High Estates area where you could find lavish apartments and neighborhoods. The eastern and western held suburbs on each side respectably, with downtown located in the center of the city and the ghetto slums just a little ways south. Besides Downtown, the Slums were the only other section of the city with a designated police department, which had formed not long after the cost of living in the area deteriorated and businesses were in decline, most of which had shut down and become the resting grounds for squatters and homeless, mutant and human alike, you really couldn't tell the difference, especially in this area.

Having finally caught up on his paperwork, Alex was ready to take on a new case, the file sitting on his desk since the morning. He made sure to have his paperwork turned in by lunch so he could start looking through the case file. He had heard rumors of the families presence in the city a while back and felt a jump in his chest upon opening the folder; a Monster having escaped containment, claiming to have been held captive in the Latro Slums. Normally a case like this would never reach the vice department, however what brought the folder Alex's way was a brand scar on the Monsters neck that suggested underground monster fights. They had received intel from departments in other cities suggesting the Koles family presence had spread to Latro, Alex figured it was only a matter of time since he had first heard of their operations via word of mouth as a street cop. Now two years later it was evident they were now in his jurisdiction. The idea only excited the young and eager detective, with that it seemed he would be having lunch on the road.

Latro was an enormous city, with the highest general population in the nation. The idea of canvasing its maze-like Slums alone was a bit discomforting, but the man couldn't even admit that to himself, he was so stubborn. Even so, the Slums had one of the highest concentrations of people in the city next to Downtown. Alex's partner was bed-ridden, in critical condition after their last case busting a gambling ring located in the back of a bar which left his partner full of poison quills by the hands of the ring leader and at risk of possibly amputating his arm. Thankfully there were no casualties so far and the criminals were brought to justice.

Even so, there was always more work to do and Alex began to look back on all of his cases in the past few months, wondering if any of them had a connection to the Koles operations. He was positive they were in the area, he had seen photos of monsters bearing the same insignia in other cities. So far there was no direct link between the monster fights and the Koles family, however there wasn't any other criminal organization they could think of responsible, the criminals apprehended always took the highest precautions to dispose of any evidence upon law enforcement infiltration and most if not all the time had suicidal procedures in place to prevent heavy interrogation, such as a false tooth filled with poison or some other brutal measure by any means, even if that entails a bullet to the brain.

Alex had already been canvasing the sums for three hours, even breaking up a fight and apprehending a drunk, strung out Monster in the meantime. The dude looked like something out of a science fiction novel, with a giant cyclops eye in the center of his face. He didn't have a mouth, but you could hear the thing speaking to you in your head, at least you could if he were able to manage a coherent sentence, he was so zonked out all you could make from the noise in your head were slurs and nonsensical jargon. He sat handcuffed in the backseat and eventually passed out, thankfully his species couldn't snore.

With that, Alex was on foot, asking every food vendor, drug dealer and nobody on the street if they could recognize the image the sketch artist had produced based on what the escaped monster fighter described to them. The man was supposed to be the one who initially kidnapped the monster. Apparently he would also feed him and the other captive fighters, as well as transport them in handcuffs from their cells to the arena where crowds of humans and monsters who reeked of cigarettes and alcohol gawked and shouted at them, waving cash and beers about here and there.

The detective made his way down an alleyway, it was evident he worked for law enforcement, in fact he wouldn't be surprised if many of the people in the Slums recognized him, which made him all the more uneasy being without a partner. He made a note not to dress in his suit the next time he was alone in the area and almost felt like he had made a rookie mistake. As he walked down the alleyway, most of the homeless began to scatter, not wanting to get involved with the law enforcement. This lead Alex to believe he had definitely been spotted and was being watched. Anyone in the Slums caught talking to a cop could expect a knife to the back in their sleep. Despite his impressive record of arrests and cases solved, Alex was still a young cop and made mistakes from time to time, he wasn't perfect.

Already feeling tremendously uneasy, Alex thought it somewhat suspicious that one of the homeless vagrants hadn't scattered and stay sitting atop boxes with their head leaning against the wall. He couldn't help but assume the vagrant was on drugs seeing as he was right on the mark 99% of the time in regards to vagrants sitting in the alleyways of the Slums. He double-checked his six and un-clipped his gun from the holster. "Excuse me," he called from just a short ways down the alleyway "I'd like to ask you some questions."

Jack "the Ripper" Harlow, a.k.a. Red - Latro City Limits
Interactions: Sun Flare

The night was long, most of them were, ever since Red's mentor had his life stripped away by father time itself. He was glad to see Sam go naturally, as opposed to being torn apart at the hands of an abomination. If not for Sam's generous nature, a real selfless man he was, Naomi would have never possessed the abilities she does today. She deserved to hear the news of his passing, not to mention Jack needed a new partner. Without Samuel backing him up, he no longer had that secure feeling, that safety net that was the difference between life and death on numerous occasions.

He had ventured on solo hunts in the past, but never anything so foolishly out of his league, such as chasing one of the countries most renowned Monsters through its own hunting grounds, a sure way to find a barrage of poisonous quills to the chest. Thankfully, Jack was equipped with the same high-end armor that possessed the latest technology. It was reminiscent to ancient samurai armor in concept but with many added variations, such as a muscle suit that granted him three times his own strength as well as various types of coating that made him resistant to most elements, hot or cold. It wasn't easy piercing the outer surface of the armor plates surrounding his body; a combination of ceramic and kevlar fiber with a high tensile strength-to-weight ratio that made for easy movement.

Nonetheless, Red could hear Sam's voice in the back of his head, calling him foolish for thinking he could spend the rest of his monster hunting career solo. He would need a helping hand. Having developed a reputation of her own, Red knew he would find Naomi at this years Monster Hunter conference in Latro City. It wouldn't hurt to have someone that's got his back, despite her insane obsession over him.

When it came to traveling across state-lines, Red always preferred doing so on foot so as to eradicate any stragglers in the woods or on the interstate. There were numerous, heavily guarded Hunter lodges scattered across open areas between cities allowing Hunters like Red to rest and recuperate, even offering vendors who would gladly pay for any skins, heads or monster carcasses in one's possession.

By now Red was nearly upon the Latro city limits. He had been on the move since the sun began to rise and decided to rest on a tree branch a good distance from the ground, shrouded in various branches and leaves surrounding him. He was flipping through the rough draft of his own DIY guide "1000 ways to slice 1000 types of monsters into pieces, or stop their breathing by Jack Harlow" which he intended to publish as soon as it was complete. He was currently on the 747th way to slice the 747th type of monster into pieces when he could hear somebodies voice down below.

"Don't tell me, you're hungry again aren't you?" The voice sounded human but you could never be absolutely sure, that was an absolute fact and one Red derived from both experience and story. "We might just have hit our 748th chapter." He thought to himself as he stood up straight atop the tree branch, flexing and stretching his muscles as quietly as he could. "Hold on for a little longer, we are almost there."

Red leaped forward, descending at an angle so as to roll forward upon hitting the ground, unsheathing his sword as he did so, his black leather duster floating gently to the ground, thus revealing Reds armor and a carbine rifle dangling from its strap off his chest. In about two seconds Red descended from the tree landing just behind the mysterious cat whisperer before him, his sword pressed into the back of its neck. "Hands up," he ordered in a monotone voice "Are you Human? Your life depends on the fact."

Wilhelm Douglas - Downtown Latro - Monster Hunter Headquarters
Another figure then approached the building, one that also garnered some attention. This attention was not out of admiration, as the previous hunter's had, but instead came from worry and fear. A stereotypical cowboy complete with hat, boots and a long brown overcoat was walking towards the building whilst spinning a magnum revolver in his right hand. With a small chuckle and a dismissive wave of his left hand, the man responded to some concerned onlookers' negative remarks that they shouldn't worry since the gun wasn't loaded. After a few more remarks and threat of the police being called, the cowboy gave in and holstered it. It didn't ease their nerves one bit and the waft of whiskey that came with him opening his mouth worsened their opinion of this hunter. Fame and fortune wasn't what Wilhelm was after, however. Their opinion meant little to him.

Inside the building the smell of whiskey that clung to Wilhelm's clothes was more obvious than it had been outside, yet the man showed no signs of intoxication. Regardless of that, the personnel was getting worried about this character and Wilhelm was asked aside for a moment, but was allowed inside after explaining his situation.
The crowd had also calmed down a bit after a few more sober hunters walked by. They were new to the scene and still very young for a hunter as was evident by their punctuality. Older and more experienced hunters tended to be late if at all present to these conventions, seeing these affairs as little more than a high school reunion and only really care about the current bounties shared near the end. Many of them certainly couldn't be bothered by civilians complaining about them for however long they were allowed to.
The newbies on the other hand tend to show up earlier and start looking for a partner or two. After they find a team, hunters usually settle down in an area and become just another officer on the front line against the monster threat. Looking for a new partner certainly wasn't unheard of, but that often implied death and most people don't take that very well. In a bad hunt a monster may kill just one person, but the entire group of hunters usually dies with them, leaving broken and defeated men and women behind.

That was neither here nor there. Wilhelm was here because he likes to expand his network of hunters and share tips and tricks about hunting, guns, booze or anything he liked. Maybe run into a familiar face and go for a drink, or meet a new face and challenge them to a game. Whatever happened that evening, Wilhelm would be sure to enjoy it.
Moments after arrival, Wilhelm swung his arms around two hunters that came in after him and had gotten to talk to each other. To no avail, they tried to get away from his iron grip and accepted their fate that was the strange mixture of booze and tobacco that came from his mouth. For a while Wilhelm shared some stories of his early days, but something else caught his eye, or rather two things. Much to their agreement, Wilhelm said goodbye to his two new friends to talk to another pair of hunters.

As Wilhelm approached Naomi, he recognised her as a somewhat notable figure, he reached under his coat where a belt of 12 gauge shells hung diagonally across his chest. Among those shells were also a couple of cigars, one of which he picked out and placed in his mouth.
"Ladies." He began with a nod. "Don't think I had the pleasure of meeting y'all before. Naomi, right?" He asked and pointed at her. "Name's Wilhelm. Nice to meet you. Put 'er there." He continued and held out a hand.

As ususal the morning rush alerted Aria and her senses again as she quickly took orders at the register feeding them back to her colleagues making the beverages. For quite a lesser known shop, the rushes were always a surprise but it did bring in the money which kept a roof over her head too. “I’ll be right with you sir!” Called the girl straightening her uniform again as she took and exchanged cash from the register.

“Aria! You’re on break. Go chill for a bit” called her more experienced colleague from the kitchen as she breathed a deep sigh of relief as she handed over the register duty to someone else while checking her phone as she sat down in a far off booth in the cafe. The first headline to greet her eyes as she scrolled through the articles for the day happened to be.

“Hunters gather in record numbers once more to keep Latro safe and public aware!”

Aria had heard brief mumbling and mentions of the event from customers as she took orders and handed them drinks. It never helped when the mention of hunters graced her ears as the stress would slowly build. All that needed to happen was to make it to the end of her day, head home and relax for the night before the cycle repeated day in day out.

They’re all around...it’s gonna be harder to keep myself under control...the last thing I want to do is for-

“Me to get out...? The unclean must be devoured...we take justice from these so called hunters...~”

“Shush...you’re not there...the police and hunters deal with crime and events...not us...”

“The hunt will only continue, one day we’ll only see eye to eye. You know it to be true...~ we’re both monsters you and I~”

Aria slammed her phone on the table causing a few eyes to glance over at the booth as Aria blushed embarrassed before moving back behind the counter and taking her position back from her colleague as they found it odd that the girls break was even shorter this time. Never the less the work only continued as the voice echoed in her head whenever a moment of silence made itself known all the while continuing to work her shifts.

“We’re both monsters you and I~”

Clive had a troubled look on his face. A hunter conference, here in Latro. Clive had just received the news a couple days ago and it was still difficult to believe. Why would they hold one here, in a city filled to the brim with monsters and civilians? But those were thoughts to be contemplated later, so he eased up his posture and put on a calm persona. With tensions already high, he didn't want to unwittingly make some other Phoenix members even more nervous. Besides the conference, there were other things to worry about. Like making this thing go as smoothly as possible.

"Careful, we can't afford to break anything right now. We probably won't be able to get many extra supplies right now, let alone equipment", he reminded the group that had been assigned to help with this part of the move. When Hazel landed next to him, he didn't even notice, busying himself with crossing out a box on the checklist he was carrying around on a clipboard. The backup centrifuge had just been unpacked and placed on a temporary table. But when she spoke, he glanced back to the group before turning to speak with her. "Yes, we seem to have lost a sterilizer at some point here, but otherwise everything is in order. Morale, however, is a different story at the moment."

Sabrina Braveheart - Down Town Latro. - Monster Hunter Secret Headquarters

Sabrina would look to the woman who had approached her and who inquired them about her Quill Javelin. it was a Single quill (measuring 4 ft long), barbed, and was black in coloration. This quill was tied to a long metal pole, and was as long 5 feet long. Very few hunters ever used her weapon as a means to strike up a conversation, but that's not to say people didn't find it impressive despite it's simplistic appearance. Though how did she know it was poisonous? "Uhm, yes it is. . . It's a bit less potent then it use to be but it effect still. . . works just fine." Sabrina shyly said to her, partially hiding behind her long hair. People kind of scared Sabrina, she wasn't afraid of human interaction but she wasn't exactly very good at it. She was also very uncomfortable around most other females, which this person was. It was about that time when a very odd man stumbled into the room. A cowboy? in this day and age? AND in a City like Latro? Then again Sabrina her self wasn't exactly a normal girl either but... There was just something very off putting about this man, and it probably wasn't the smell of booze. Thankfully for her he seemed more interested in the older woman than her.

Bethany Koles - Latro Western District - Abandoned Building

2 slimes, 3 lizard people, 1 frog-man, and 1 were boar, for a town that's supposed to be riddled with monsters they were certainly difficult to find. Though this didn't bother Bethany too much. She had heard rumor of a basilisk running rampant in the sewers, such a creature would make a killing in her monster fight rings... Or maybe even make enough cash in auction to build a summer home in the northern district of Latro? This was only Rumor though, and she didn't want to sacrifice her own members on a wild goose chase for something that might not even be down there. Besides, she had a summons to attend to (odd seeing how most other hunters didn't even see her as one). But, who was she to deny the counsel? Besides, these meetings is a good way to gather information... Information that could be Good for Business.

See looked to on of her higher ranking operatives and demanded their attention, "I'm off to answer my summons. See to it that these monsters are locked up with the rest." she ordered., and the family member gave her a solute to confirm the order. with that Bethany made her way to her car, where a chauffeur was waiting to driver her to the meeting.

Sun Flare - Latro City Limits

A man with a sword approached him, demanding to know just what sun flare was... Rude, this man seemed to be very rude. But Sun Flare remained calm, he dealt with humans like this before. All he had to do was to keep calm and let things pan out as they will. "You say that as if there's a difference between man and beast" Sun Flare spoke to the swordsman in a stoic (albeit slightly irritated) tone. People like this didn't scare Sun Flare, they just give him a headache. Sun Flare kept his hood up, concealing his face, after all both it and his monster form were known to a multi-quadrillion dollar company who built him to kill other monsters. if word got out he was spotted it would cause problems for everyone.

The shuffling around her suddenly grew quiet, and she heard the deliberate gait of someone who knew exactly what they were looking for. Now that was odd.

She cracked open one eye to see what was going on without giving herself away. A policeman, and a younger-looking one, at that. Black hair framed his face, and his steps were slowing as his eyes settled on her. Was he after her?

Warily, Acadia started to sit up, crumpling the now-empty soup bowl and dropping it into the dumpster to her left. And on her right, the man was unholstering his gun. He glanced behind him, almost anxiously, and looked back at her. Then he spoke.

Her frown deepened, and she yanked her hood up farther, hiding her branded neck and most of her hair, as well as shrouding her face in shadow. She leaned back, staring straight at him from under the hood with a distrustful yet intelligently respectful demeanor. Her arms were crossed over her stomach, her legs were pulled up to her chest, and her head was leaning back against the brick of the building behind her. She squinted at him, her shimmering crystal orbs almost glowing in the shadow of her hood.

"Yeah? What's the subject matter?" She was testing the waters, looking him in the face rather than shying away. The interaction was unnatural to her, but this approach had worked before with cops his age....and he seemed inexperienced. Cooperating with him- but not too much- would probably work best if she wanted to avoid getting arrested on the spot.

Still, it didn't exactly help to ease her nerves, and the last thing she needed was for the vagrants around her to try to kill her in her sleep.....or for something to happen that would draw attention to the fact that she was a monster. The Koles family was in town, after all, and she knew that going in there a second time would spell no escape.

Hazel hummed, nodding as her green eyes swept over the scene up-close. The workers were younger, most of them newer additions to the growing underground organization. They wore frowns and glanced anxiously at the door from time to time, muscles tensed and skittish.

Morale was a tricky subject. "Well, hopefully we'll have the barracks set up soon, so they can get a good night's sleep. I think we're all exhausted and anxious by now." She cracked a small, encouraging smile, before moving on to the topic of the lost equipment.

"And, uh...sterilizer? Remind me what that looks like?" The winged girl frowned, racking her brain for the image of the equipment. She'd never finished high school, after all, and before then she hadn't even enjoyed science. Half the things Clive talked about went right over her head, but she tried her best to understand them...even when he slipped into jargon that she was convinced wasn't actually English.

But she was a damn good leader, and her empathetic nature helped the people she organized pay attention and not stage a mutiny.

“I’m taking my lunch break! I’ll be back later!”

Called Aria as she headed out the door. Checking her watch she had at least an hour to get home and try to keep herself calm as the shift continued. Looking around the transport through the city was packed with a sudden influx of customers meaning that the girl would be walking.

With a soft sigh she slipped her hands into her pockets and started walking towards a slight path she knew was quicker than the usual route however it meant going through a shady side of the city. She knew it was home to many homeless, criminals hiding out and of course her own species attempting to survive.

“One way in...one way out...it’s just a straight line through”

She said to herself mumbling as her hot breath wafted into the air and was taken away by the breeze. Walking slowly down the alley towards the slums she kept herself close and on alert hoping she wouldn’t have to run or resort to the worst.

Area - Latro Slums

The walk wasn’t ever easy. She had the creeping feeling of being watched, ready to be jumped like the incident years ago. As she slipped in further down the path, she noticed a few of the residents running past her before stumbling on what seemed to be a small standoff.

Her eyes first glanced to the one armed with a gun. A smartly dressed looking fellow but looked to mean business. Her assumptions quickly lead to him being part of the police force or a Hunter meaning there could be more nearby.

The second person her eyes drew toward happened to be on top of a pile of boxes glancing at the man while keeping themselves hooded and hidden from view. Aria could barely see her face and maybe it was for the best. The last thing she wanted to do was start a fight with anyone here.

Standing back behind a dumpster for now was her only option as she watched the ongoing situation between the two. However she unintentionally made herself known as a standing empty can was gently tapped by her boot, falling with a loud, empty and echoing clang to the ground.

"Hell yes" Naomi tilted her head slightly, admiring the 8ft barbed black metal monster slayer. She was mesmerized. "You've got to let me impale something with that, hows about it?" She quickly removed one of her revolvers from its holster, which was wrapped around her arms with leather straps. "I'll let ya shoot my gun, you ever use one of these? I'll teach you." Clearly the blonde was very young, the fact she was at a monster hunter conference made an impression on the ivy league dropout. Had she already slain a monster herself?

Usually Naomi maintained a resting deadpan expression similar to the face she made playing online video games, seemingly void of life (she never died or lost a game, so there was never any fits or ragequits) however under specific circumstance she displayed spurts of tremendous emotion in rapid succession before reverting to her resting deadpan face. Usually the only time you could see her crack the slightest inkling of a smile was when she had her Pho and japanese soda, or when interacting with fans. She wasn't cruel in nature, it was nature that forced her to act cruel and, as if on cue, it brought such circumstance her way, just as it had done to humanity by creating Monsters to tear people to shreds.

Naomi went from mesmerized to seemingly pestered, furrowing her brow and scrunching her nose up as a man who appeared to be as old as herself and the blonde girl combined stuck his grizzled face in front of theirs and extended a hand that Naomi assumed must have been riddled with all sorts of germs and bacteria, the callouses of his palm making his age evident like the rings of an oak tree. The Crazy Girl with Guns and Katanas was, however, no sissy germophobe, always ready to get down and dirty.

She promptly holstered her gun and proceeded to spit onto her hand before smacking it into the cowboys, proceeding to shake firmly. "Likewise, mister." Now that, she felt warranted a toothy grin. "I was just asking the pretty girl if I could play with her javelin in exchange for some shooting lessons. Care to let us use your face for target practice?"

Alex Mercer - Latro Slums
Interactions: Acadia Finch, Aria Celiva

As Alex drew closer, the hooded figure displayed an air of integrity that suggested she was not some strung out junkie. Interacting with people and criminals on a daily basis left the detective with a keen sense of reading body language along with various other aspects of human behavior. Usually junkies and burnouts were too out of their minds to even notice Alex was there, let alone form a coherent, intellectual thought or sentence.

No, the girl gave off a palpable energy, there was a look in her eyes that even reminded Alex of himself. She gave off a sense of purpose, that she was meant for something greater than herself and her petty struggles, which was not something he could say about many of the people he worked with, even people in much better circumstances than sitting atop a pile of boxes with nothing but some soup and a bag to their name.

"Subject matter?" Alex repeated the girls words to himself in his head, so she definitely wasn't just a cute face. The detective reached into his jacket pocket, unfolding the sketch revealing a man with a rather bulky face, tattoos underneath both eyes, a nose piercing and a faux-hawk. The sketch artist and monster escapee did a good job of getting down the thugs image, he was clean shaven and had butt-chin as well.

Alex held the sketch outward "Have you seen this man?" He thought it peculiar how her skin seemed to be glowing even under the shade of the head, maybe she was just really pale but he tried not to analyze her too much. More than likely she was probably just some college dropout gone punk, she seemed the activist type.

The echo of tin hitting concrete echoed down the narrow hallway, startling the detective's sensitive reflexes. His eyes shot behind him and he instantly drew his weapon. "Freeze!" Alex shouted. He was not, however, aiming at the young girl hiding behind the dumpster. His sights were trained on the dubious character wielding a knife behind her, who grabbed hold of the girl, holding the serrated edge of the blade against her neck, grinning all the while he did so. "Don't you move a muscle detective! Drop the gun!" A similar figure appeared behind him wielding a metal bat.

A white van screeched to a halt from the other end of the alleyway. Three fiends holding various weaponry, one of which was a gun, opened the sliding door and approached the three of them. Alex maintained his composure despite wanting to knock himself upside the head for basically shooting himself in the foot, he was arrogant to think something like this wouldn't occur working solo in the Slums of all places. He had been ambushed.

A deadly hiccup, he would admit, but not the first. "I SAID DROP-" Splat! In an instant the inside of the fiends head decorated the red brick walls as well as the young girl he held hostage, the knife pressed against her neck dropping to the floor. The gunshot echoed through the alleyway as Alex grabbed the hooded girl by the arm and swung her behind himself and the stack of boxes that were now under fire.

Jack "the Ripper" Harlow, a.k.a. Red - Latro City Limits

The hooded figures clever remark would not humor Jack and the cat sitting atop the subjects head did nothing as well to deter suspicion. He had encountered hundreds of monsters throughout his careers that came off more clever, even more intelligent than certain humans. As if the hood wasn't already enough cause for alarm, he couldn't think of any reason in particular a man would be walking through the wilderness other than trying to avoid the public eye, cat atop his head or not. He would not, however, lay a finger on anyone without reason. He had to admit to himself, it had been a good week and a half since the last time he slayed and even so he knew deep down being a monster was not a justifiable reason for slaughter. He hated to admit it, but he had met many ethically sound, thoughtful monsters. Sometimes in a bar, at the movies, hell some of them even owned their own shops and were pretty damn friendly. It ate Jack alive on the inside but the older he got the nicer monsters seemed to be. It was.....weird.

"Maybe there is, maybe there isn't.....man or beast, I just can't have you causing any trouble. I'm authorized to investigate any suspicious activity that entails criminal behavior." It would be foolish to order some random individual walking through the woods, monster or not, to reveal their self. If the man was a wanted criminal, that would definitely signal cause to make the first strike putting Jack at a disadvantage considering the fact he has no idea what he's up against, which could be anything.

Jack sheathed his sword. The fact that the stranger possessed intellect and was not some rabid beast on the loose was enough to prevent an altercation on his end. "Not saying you look suspicious, just that it's dangerous to be out here by yourself. I don't think that kitten will be much of a help." Jack picked his coat off the ground, holding it over his shoulder as he cautiously approached the man from the side "Sorry for poking you in the neck with the sword, you can never be too careful these days. Where are you headed, sir? I'd be happy to escort you."

He figured if the man was a wanted abomination they would meet again and the ripper would have his head.

Wilhelm Douglas - Downtown Latro - Monster Hunter Headquarters - Naomi Hunter/Sabrina Braveheart
The spitting in her hand wasn't something Wilhelm reacted to more than a curious raised eyebrow, but the unconvincing smile and followup taunt, if it was intended as one, made him laugh heartily. Annoying this cowboy requires a whole lot of effort which most people don't even bother with. Wilhelm quickly reached for his cigar as it fell out of his mouth when his laughter turned into a small coughing fit. Many people felt somewhat annoyed or uncomfortable when first meeting Wilhelm, this girl was no exception. Unfortunately for everyone, that hasn't ever stopped the cowboy from throwing himself into groups in the middle of conversation.
Wilhelm wiped his hand clean after hitting his chest trying to clear his throat. Shaking hands after spitting on them wasn't something he'd done in a long time, not since his life on the farm. Rather than being uncomfortable it was a little heartwarming, bringing back some fond memories of his youth with the most notable being the first time he'd done that. When the youngest of his older brothers got his rifle as the traditional Douglas' tenth birthday gift, he and Wilhelm made a trade. Wilhelm would give up his next dessert to fire off a few rounds with it. To seal that deal they spat in their hands and shook on it.

"Now that contract ain't binding unless I spit in my hand, too. Heh. If that's your way of asking for a picture, no need to be shy, you can go right ahead." He said and then winked at her with a grin, showing his own yellowed teeth in return. "'sides, what were you packing there, 45 colts? Try these on for size." He continued, then pushed the front flaps of his jacket to the side to show off the revolvers hanging at his hips. Aside from the holsters there were also a hip flask and another ammo belt with bullets for the two S&W Model 500 revolvers he unholstered and began spinning around. "I hear you're a good shot, always nice to see competent youth. If we're going shooting anyway, how about a bet?" Wilhelm said smugly, then tossed both his revolvers to Naomi. "See if you can beat me. Haven't had a challenge in a while." If she cared to look, Naomi would find the chamber currently on the barrel empty. The other four were loaded.
After that exchange Wilhelm turned towards Sabrina. "So, pretty girl." He said with air quotes. "What's your name?"

Sabrina Braveheart - Down Town Latro. - Monster Hunter Secret Headquarters

Continuing to hide her face, Sabrina softly spoke to the two hunters whom had their attention on her. "I-I'm... I'm Sabrina", she then drew her Javelin closer to her body as if trying t protect it. It was rare for people to be this much in awe of her weapon, especially to this degree! Let someone else hold her javelin? The thought of it felt slightly frightening, she didn't even know these people and already one of them wants to "play" with it? "I'd, rather... I'd rather not, let other people use my javelin. I... don't exactly know either of you." she hesitated. On the other hand, Sabrina had seen guns before, the hunter who saved her from the monster that killed her mother had one. Though it didn't seem to work all that well against it, it was enough to fend it off and escape from its toxic grip. Sabrina Never saw that hunter again, the only reason why she has the quill is because they gave it to her before they disappeared. Sabrina likes to think she'd meet that man again some day, maybe team up and hunt down that spiky freak of nature and avenge her mother. She didn't have a disinterest in learning how to use a fire arm, but it wasn't exactly on top of her "to-do" list.

Sabrina then took a look around the room, this couldn't be everyone could it? She knew this was a monster town but there had to be more hunters coming than THIS. "So um... do any of you know... if there will be others coming her.... or is it just us?" Sabrina would quietly say to the two hunters.

Authorized? Since when were hunters above the law? On the other hand though, Sun Flare wasn't exactly Lawful either... So who was he to really judge the actions of others? As for being alone, Sun Flare as been just that ever since he broke out of Bio Corp. Labs (the company that created him). And despite occasional interacting with the other specimens back in the day, he was almost always by him self in a cage too. . . So isolation was no stranger to him. "I'm more than capable than taking care of myself, swordsman." Sun Flare retorted, continuing to stand his ground. The kitten would then start purring on top of his head, as if asking for affection. Sun Flare extended his arm to pet the little thing, not disturbing it's position at all. "As for the cat, it found me... I did not find it." Sun Flare then retracted his arm back under his cloak, retained his previous neutral stance as the man walked around him. The human offered to escort him to his destination, but Sun Flare did not have one. Not one that was direct at least. If anything he would head to the nearest structure he came across, rest for a bit, and move on to the city. Sun flare would rather not be in the company of someone who'd kill him for, any reason be it selfish or not, and continued to walk down the path he was taking. He looked back to the man for a moment, his pose as ominous as a wandering warrior... Or perhaps a reaper... "Don't follow me..." Sun Flare would say to the man, before facing forward again and continued walking.

The cowboy gave a hearty grin, his teeth yellow as sunflowers. Despite coming off as a grizzled veteran, the fact he couldn't distinguish a colt from a taurus sullied his merit somewhat, but she could chalk that up to the booze he'd been drinking. She could only imagine how much that was, yet as he spun his S&W's fancy like, it was clear he knew what he was doing despite being under the influence. Couldn't really blame him for not calling the taurus, he only had the handles to go off of. The renowned Samurai Princess caught each revolver with the opposite hand, careful to keep her fingers off the trigger. The pistols were significantly heavier than hers and she could see her aim being off in battle, nothing some target practice couldn't fix.

Naomi figured there was no reason to give Wilhelm a hard time, he seemed alright enough and considering he felt confident to propose a wager despite being aware of her reputation was a gesture she could respect. The girl always considered actions to speak louder than words and Wilhelm seemed to be a man of action.

So the girls name was Sabrina. The swordswoman spun the cowboys revolver outward, offering him the handles. She then politely extended a hand to the young girl "Call me Naomi. Nice to meet you!" She honestly couldn't help but feel like the young girl was going to end up dead in a week. Monsters were serious business. She'd hate to watch the local evening news covering her death. "The more experienced hunters usually avoid the conferences until towards the end when they display the most wanted monsters and their bounties and locations. They do this purposefully, there are a lot of people that are against monster hunting who come to these conferences to protest and guilt the hunters."

She gazed around the auditorium. The conference would be starting any minute now and there were a little more than a handful of hunters in attendance, including themselves. It was probably for the best, the hunters were at just as much risk as the monsters.

"Sabrina" Naomi began, her tone taking on a more serious approach "What are you hunting monsters for? Shouldn't you be in school?"

So it was settled then, the mysterious lone figure would prefer his space. For all he knew the man was a hunter himself and didn't want anyone stealing his kill. That was fine by Jack, he couldn't help but feel the same way. He did think it somewhat awkward that the man instructed Jack not to follow him, they both seemed to be heading in the same direction. Rather than pester the stranger further Jack simply sported his leather duster and began pressing on somewhat perpendicular to the strangers path. After seeing the things young Jack had witnessed first hand, he felt a little paranoid when it came to differentiating friend from foe and felt like he had just sent a family somewhere in the woods to their graves. It was a feeling that contributed to his alcoholism and rather unethical coping mechanisms.

flick. Jack lit up a cigarette to calm his nerves. He refused to think there was a limit to the capabilities of one man, but nature seemed to want him to feel otherwise. He pressed onward to Latro City.

"Yes, some sleep will do us all good. I wish I could give the people setting up here more breaks to ease their nerves, but if we want to get the main parts of this move finished before a bunch of hunters can pick up on it then we don't have too much time to spare." His speech was calm, almost overly so, and serious. They couldn't afford to waste time on a day like this, since hunter conferences never seemed to be very consistent with timing. They could last anywhere from fifteen or twenty minutes to a couple hours. And the most dangerous part was that nobody knew which they'd be.

"As for the missing sterilizer-" Clive had quickly switched gears, speaking with a lighter tone now. "It's a benchtop autoclave, a steam sterilizer. A Tuttnaur 2540M to be exact. It just looks like a rectangular machine, with a large door, sturdy lock, and some calibration dials on the side. Inside there are trays to place the items to be sterilized onto." He had explained it simply, without getting into how it worked and everything. He was satisfied with its level of understandability, but was unsure as to whether or not he'd actually made his explanation too simple. He may not have given Hazel enough information to go by, but he would wait for her response to tell if he had or not.

The detective approached her more, and still she didn't move, sitting perfectly still atop her boxes and just watching. When he unfolded the picture, though, she couldn't keep her face from twisting into a look of disgust. Of course she knew that man. She'd not only seen him during her brief stay in the fighting pits, but she had also been an object for his routine abuse.

She opened her mouth to answer....and then the can hit.

Acadia jumped, her eyes flicking from the man to the scene behind him.

Then all hell broke loose. First, a van pulled into the alley, and then the detective shot the man holding another girl hostage. The goons that hopped out of the vehicle were all faces she recognized- Koles grunts, likely sent just to attack low-level monsters and keep them caged until they were restrained, numbered, fitted with a tracker, and sold to whatever master would hold them captive for the rest of their lives.

Before she could do anything, the detective grabbed her arm, yanking her off the stack of boxes and swinging them both behind them. His hand was big enough, and she small enough, that it enclosed her entire forearm, revealing to him the state of hunger she was in.

Acadia immediately freed herself, jerking her arm free and cradling it to her chest. With her adrenaline on high, and her heart pounding in her chest, she didn't even notice that in the scuffle, her hood had fallen down, revealing her sea green hair in full....and the brand on her own neck.

It was a blocky K with a sword through it, marking her as the property of the Koles family, and revealing her to be little more than a beast, a fighter in the pits. Only the high-level monsters were branded with that insignia, the skin scarred and crumpled, forever proving what they were to any that saw them.

It took a full ten seconds for her to realize, and she pulled her hood back up with a look of panic, hoping against hope that the detective had been too distracted by the situation to notice the scar. So many questions were running through her mind, but the only one she could think to ask was one that probably didn't mean anything to the situation at hand.

Still, it would dicatate to her wether she would help or not.

Acadia plowed ahead, not giving Alex a chance to comment on the brand or continue the shootout and instead staring him in the face with an intensity only seen in those who were truly desperate for revenge. "Why were you asking about that man?" It didn't seem like the best question to be asking right at that moment, but if he said the right thing, it could make the difference for them....and for the girl still out in the alley.

Hazel nodded along to Clive's reply, her face scrunched in concentration as he moved from morale to the description of the missing equipment. His first few words were too confusing to follow, all numbers and words that meant nothing to her and only served to muddle the image in her brain.

But when he finished speaking, something clicked. Her eyes lit up in realization and she cocked her head to the side slightly. "So...the steam-safe, right?" She asked. "When did we last have it for sure? Is there anything else missing?"

To an outsider, that would sound like a strange reply. But in the months that she'd been working with Clive, they'd come to an understanding. She couldn't remember the names of his equipment, but she'd given them her own titles so she could recall what they did and were. Some examples of this were the 'shaking pour-thing' and the 'hot coil of doom'. When she used such titles, more often than not the scientist could understand her more than she could understand him, and thus they could work together in his element.

It was 3:15 PM.

45 degrees Fahrenheit outside.

452 in attendance.

FLUX was wearing his usual- a professional black suit and tie- and his dark eyes were scanning the room. Every four seconds, he blinked. His arms didn't swing and his chest rose and fell with the compresses of fake breath.

The android was standing atop a round pedestal, clear screens around him showing what he could do to curious Hunters looking for a hired- or expensively rented- hand. Video feed of his several counts of monster takedowns and various abilities were running around him all at once, devoid of sound but still proof of what the unassuming-looking bot could do. It was no wonder his price was so high.

At his sides were two other men in suits and sunglasses, these ones fully human but almost seeming more mechanical. They were there simply to handle transactions and keep people from touching the expensive machines, and stood with their hands clasped in front of them and their faces calmly neutral.

He was not permitted to speak unless spoken to, and so FLUX was silent, idly scanning the faces in the room and gathering information on every Hunter that passed close enough that he could lock onto their features. There was noting to do until he was rented, after all.

Well, that wasn't entirely true. After the seminar would be a demonstration, where he'd get to showcase his abilities live with audience participation....but it would take a while for that to happen.

Wilhelm looked Sabrina up and down a handful of times, letting his eyes slowly examine her build. Partially because he'd only just now noticed how young and frail she looked, a worry only amplified by her timid demeanour, and partially to get rid of the stare-at-boobs instinct every man was cursed with. The gears in his head began turning, processing the information as he accepted his revolvers back. The cowboy holstered one revolver, but resumed the gunspinning with his right hand to keep himself occupied as his mind wandered for a bit. A young hunter as a teammate would definitely be an interesting change of pace. The company of the other girl also promised the potential of some interesting stories to tell at the bar.

Staying silent, Wilhelm only offered a nod in agreement to Naomi's explanation for their limited numbers. He knew of some hunters that already struggled with murdering so many human-esque characters, they didn't want to be reminded of those events by tearful parents. Having a drink with an old friend of his just a few minutes ago was the only reason Wilhelm was present as early as he was. He had even been debating whether or not to show up at all to this one, but seeing as he was in town and had no jobs at the moment he figured he might as well have. It would definitely be a good reminder why he prefers to excuse himself from participating in humouring the public. He's heard it all by this point.

For a moment, Wilhelm wanted to speak up, but he caught himself before saying anything. He'd decide what to do with the two after the little girl answered the question.

“Why are you a hunter?” A question Sabrina is all too familiar with, she may not have been a monster hunter for long but it is still something she gets asked a lot. She tightened her grip of her javelin, memories of the demise of her mother flash in her mind several times over, and her "shy girl" personal seemed to melt away for a moment, "Let's just say" Sabrina paused for a moment to look at the most recent bounties, she picks one at seemingly random... "That I have a score to settle" She continued, giving off vindictive vibe in her tone. The Bounty, as of a humanoid creature of some kind. Most of its body was covered in a large, ragged cloak, with the only distinguishable features of it being... Long, black, barbed quills poking out from the back. She may have only ever seen the creature once, but she remembers that one encounter all too well. She didn't know this thing's name (if it even had one), nor what they even looked like under that cloak. But she didn't care, all she did care about when it came to that monster, was realizing her vendetta. She just... Needs help finding it again. keeping tabs on this creature was as hard as trying to dodge a bullet. And in a town mostly populated by monsters, getting information would be harder still. Especially since she is a hunter, and her foe is a monster.

Sun Flare continued down the road, reaching a clearing in the woods... As well as a fork in the road, the left path lead to a seemingly abandoned building complex... Or at least it would be if who ever was over there wasn't so loud. At first glance it seemed like a good place to rest before heading into the city itself, and it very well could be anyway id Sun Flare wanted it to. The right path lead into the southern district of Latro, Sun Flare could vaguely hear the activity of the slums but not enough to know 100% what's going on. Instinct tells him to go left, human intelligence tells him to go right. Wonderful, now he had to choose to make a pointless decision. He picked up a stick, and made a mental note of each possible direction it could land if he gently tossed it upwards. And when he did, the stick pointed to the building complex. "Looks like we are going left little one." Sun Flare spoke to the cat as it it could understand him. "~Meeew?" Sun flare walked down the left path, and prepared him self for who or what was going to be found there.

As the gun fight started in the alley, Aria could only side against the alley wall feeling the blood of her attacker sliding down her cheek and face. Mortified and feeling the ringing in her ears getting louder as the thugs near her retaliated against Alex and the Acadia further down the alleyway.

"You pig! I'm gonna kill you! But first...."

One of the more burly thugs grabbed Aria again not even giving her a chance to rest or regain her senses as she found a knife pressed at her neck again. The girl's breathing quickened to hyperventilating as she kept having thoughts over and over again repeating the same memory over and over in her head while the knife was pressed at her neck again this time digging in slightly.

"Drop the gun or she dies! You've taken one of us, we can take her life as well!"

The thug replied gruffly tightly holding Aria while her eyes became dilated feeling the pressure building, the tension. it all just kept piling up without giving her any say in the situation. Each firing shot from the guns rang in her ears creating the perfect ringing for one voice inside her to keep talking away. digging at her with each word like a knife.

"Please...I just want t-"

Her plead was retaliated by a stab into her side from the thug. Her yellow coat becoming a deep red as the liquid seeped from her side onto the dark floor below. She didn't even scream or cry from the pain. It was too much of a shock as she began to shiver. Her eyes drifting to her side seeing the wound from the blade now back at her neck.

"If she keeps talking I'll keep stabbing, Pig!"

The thug called gripping her tighter letting his other accomplices do the work while they 'negotiated' in their own way. Aria felt her head getting lighter as she lost blood, her skin becoming a slow pale before silence slipped into her ears as the voice called out again.

"you're dying my dear~ More than usual anyway. You don't have a choice in this and they don't want you to."

"We can work this out....it's just a misunderta-"

"We're far beyond that. Let me out."

"I won't let you...You've done enough."

"Fine....Then I'll take that choice M̡͚͎̭̪̺͍y̯̙̱̹͘s͔̦͍̬̲͍̟͞e̸͇̘͓̜̯ͅl̟̘̦̣̭̲f̭͙"

On the outside, the girl was just mumbling to herself. Held in a tight grip as the thug looked at her getting more agitated by her mumbling. Growling loudly and raising the knife upwards to the air again. He looked to Alex further down the alley calling to him.

"I warned you!"

The knife was soon plunged downwards into Aria's chest as the thug suddenly found the knife nearly impossible to pull out. Pulling on the handle heavily grunting loudly, the blade had yet to slip out of the girl's body as her skin regained some color but soon slowly got darker as the thug pushed Aria away seeing this sudden change.

"Oh it feels good to be out again~"

Aria grins upwards at the thugs, her voice changing as she speaks as the knife was almost absorbed into her chest as her form slowly changed into a much taller being while her skin adapted to the change becoming black as night, her hair longer and flowing and her arms much longer and beast like. as she took shape towering over the thug before her, she crawled on all 4's breathing heavily.

"You wanted to get closer to this person, Why don't I help you!"

Grasping the thug by his shoulders, She turned tossing the thug backwards towards as he screamed in panic colliding with the scattered boxes as Aria slowly walked on her tall legs towards him seemingly ignoring the man with the gun attempting to save her from this as well as the hooded figure sticking behind him.

"Get the hell away from me! it's one of those monster freaks!"

"Impure, vile, it disgusts me. Just like those hunters!"

Naomi Hunter - Downtown Latro - Monster Hunter Convention
Interactions: Sabrina Braveheart, Wilhelm Douglas

"Ah, so it's personal then." Naomi proceeded to enter Sabrina's row and sat on her right. She would not protest if Wilhelm were to accompany them, she was more concerned with the passionate vendetta the young blonde held against some monster. Seemed she did not think or want to reveal her motives so abruptly to a stranger albeit her politeness. The Samurai Princess crossed her arms and sat with one leg crossed over the other, somewhat offended by Sabrina's behavior. Naomi only wanted to help prevent another young hunters life taken at the hands of unforgiving monstrosities, however the girl seemed stubborn. She figured if the girl really thought she could handle monsters on her own well, that was too bad.

With that, the samurai grew quite bored quite fast. She pulled out her cell phone, social media and games demanding her short attention span. As time pressed on Hunters began filing in after about forty-five minutes into the convention the whole auditorium appeared a lot bigger with people in it. Naomi remained content with her cell phone, awaiting the bounty board so she could catch her next assignment. The Monster Hunter Convention was now in full swing.

Alex Mercer - Latro Slums
Interactions: Acadia Finch Carson, Aria Celvia

The fight felt as if it were happening in slow motion. Bullets whizzed by Alex's head and he would return their fire with his own, clipping a thug on the hand causing him to drop his gun. As two more thugs charged at the man, it was clear by their raggedy t-shirts and rather grotesque faces they were not the most dangerous criminals on the block. One of the fiends used his full strength to swing a metal bat to Alex's head, which he simply caught with his free hand, kicking the thug in his stomach as he did so before yanking the bat from his hand and launching it at the fiend behind him which hit face first knocking the thug on his back.

With that, the hooded girl blurted out a question so abruptly Alex glanced at her as if he couldn't believe she actually thought now was the best time to have a conversation. This was made evident when he shouted "What?!" in retort. "We suspect he's involved in a criminal organization responsible for an underground monster fighting ring in the area." The thug that initially held the bat now jumped to his feet and landed a blow on Alex, using his full strength to punch the detective across the face with his almost embarrassingly small arms. Despite making contact, Alex hardly flinched and proceeded to punch the thug squarely in the bridge of his nose, knocking him briefly unconscious.

As the thug hit the floor the third of the trio that emerged from the van began lifting his gun off the ground with his left hand seeing as Alex had shot the right. The fiend was shaking, before he could take aim Alex was already before him. The detective swung upwards with the bottom of his elbow, knocking the gun into the air. With both arms he grabbed the thug by his shoulders and smashed his head against the thugs, knocking him unconscious and leaving a welt on Alex's forehead.

Having almost forgotten about the rest of the criminals in the alleyway, the sound of a thug ordering him to drop his gun only made the detective turn around and take aim, despite their being no line of sight between his barrel and the enemy. Gritting his teeth in frustration, he could not think of what to do at that point and cringed as the thug began plunging his knife into the girl.

As the other two approached the hooded girl crouched beside boxes Alex charged towards them, dodging their swings and knocking them upside the head with his gun. As they crumpled to the ground he took aim at the girl one more.

"No!" He shouted, horrified at the sight of the girl being stabbed in the chest. He kept his sights trained on the girl in an attempt to get a clear shot, but was soon put off the change of color the girls skin began to exhibit. He couldn't notice how the knife was impossible to remove but slowly began taking steps backwards as her body seemed to absorb the blade and change shape.

Alex had to dodge out of the way to avoid having the thug collide into his person. The monstrosity before him imposed no fear into the man but he could only hope he had remained on its good side considering he failed to prevent the girl from being stabbed. By now it was apparent the situation was out of hand. The sight of a monster on the street would soon bring hunters their way, which would entail a bloodbath. Alex quickly pulled out his cell-phone and dialed the police station.

"This is detective Alex Mercer!" He stated with urgency "Badge number seven-two-three. We have a code three hundred in an alleyway on the corner of Sunset and Doniphan! Send immediate backup!" The police code was unique to Latro city, a code three hundred signifying a monster taking form or initiating self-defense, so as to avoid any unnecessary casualties on both ends. The sooner law enforcement showed up, the sooner the monsters life in the alleyway was safe from any harm by way of any hunters.

Alex dashed towards the helpless thug crying for help, running beneath the monster that had tossed him. Holstering his gun, he stood above the thug and turned to face the monster, holding a hand out "Stand down!" he ordered "Don't be stupid!" Truly, he had no clue what he was dealing with and only hoped that somewhere inside the monstrosity was the young girl he saw moments ago, someone he could reason with. "The police are on their way! We have the situation under control, stand down! Nobody else needs to get hurt!"
