Music is powerful; emotions can bubble up, minds can change, ears can shatter, and a high enough decibel can kill a man. As music grows increasingly political, every government on the planet faces the possibility of revolution. In the Middle East, Muslims are rising against the western oil barons, and rebels are rising against Sharia Law. In Europe, metalheads are tearing down established norms and establishments, and riots threaten to break out as the political left and right experience their own musical revolutions anathema to one another. Asia sees a clash between China and Russia as the Russian Federation seeks southern expansion, while a new phenomenon of "Revolutionary Homosexuality" breaks out to violently combat the oppressive government, and this phenomenon has spread as far as Africa. Canadian and Australian Indigenous Nations grow increasingly resentful of their treatment by the settler governments. Lastly, in America, ravers are running riot as a ban on political music reaches the Senate, but the militarized police have been equipped with sonic weapons designed to cause great pain and, on repeated exposure, deafness or death.
The East Coast of America marks the hottest spot of riotous conflict, as musicians write about the end of Capitalism - in the south, they write of Fascism and the Ethnostate. In the north, they write of Communism and the Collective. Caught in the middle is Charlottesville, and Americans can no longer remain unaffiliated - they must pick a side, or try to beat them both back by joining law enforcement. For some, the choice is obvious, to others, it's another instance of choosing the lesser of two evils, as the United States are bound to divide, if not entirely cease to be.
Hatred, or Appropriation? An end to money, or an end to diversity? Hitler, or Stalin?
Or do you choose to uphold the status quo, even if it costs you your liberty?
This roleplay will see us playing as police, communists, and fascists fighting throughout the East Coast of the United States. There are no moderates, you must pick between these three extremes, although you are free to defect. We will be fighting, verbally and violently, and all to the tune of music. Each player will have a theme song, and each event will be punctuated by a song. Ideally, your character will live up to the intended meaning of their theme song. It doesn't have to be any particular genre, but its content MUST be political.
