The sun has set, and the interviews conclude. Albert and Benji are escorted by Odallwa and Velano through the festive streets of York to The Count's Tavern after being given back their respective weapons. It was less a 'tavern' as the name would suggest and more of a large mead hall with its name in burned letters across the large wooden double doors. Signs hang from nails on both that read 'Closed for Private Event'.

Odallwa opens both doors and the group is met by a green orc in leather armor, who stands seven feet tall. He places his hand over the pommel of a sword on his back, but retracts it as Odallwa keeps walking while informing him "Red Shield Guild, good man. Here to celebrate as planned."

The Orc nods and relaxes. He gives Albert and Benji a perplexed look, but does nothing else. He has clear orders, and does not deviate.

The hall is all dark pristine wood with torches burning within wrought iron chandeliers. There are long tables with bench seats, but only the central one is occupied. The men smell the feast before they can take it all: roasted boar, grilled fish, trays of pastries and pies.

The rest of Red Shield has already gathered, but the two will hear a loud "BOYS!" before anything else, and see Anne coming at them with a large glass mug of amber liquid in her right hand. She throws her arms around them, bringing them both in for a hug. Whether they like it or not as her strength prevents escape.

"Al!..listen I was talkin' to Temna...and I'm sorry." Anne says to Albert, right into his ear as she holds him and even gives him a booze-soaked kiss on the cheek "First man I see in days, and I whip out my guns." She scoffs "Typical Ann, makin' bad first impressions." She turns to Benji, who has the mug pressed against his cheek "And Benny! Sorry fer grabbin' an firin' off yer gun like that. Do ya forgive me?" She asks in almost a begging tone with downturned eyes, that tear up and close as she lets them both go and steps back.

"Zuki….I never got to say….I'm sorry to her…"Anne stumbles to the table where everyone else is seated but a few spots away. "Come on! Grab something from the nice man so we can toast Zuki!" She points at the actual bar in the corner, manned by an otherworldly-looking man with pointed ears and sharp facial features, with long platinum blonde hair.

The rest of Red Shield chat amongst themselves; greeting Odallwa and Velano as they join the table. The only silent one of the group is Delilah, who stands against a wall drinking from a glass of blue liquid, not-so-subtly keeping an eye on Anne and the other Strangers.

Following Odallwa to the taven, Albert's face widens in tremendous surprise when he spots the enormous orc, wondering to himself just how many other races exist in this crazy world. Feeling particularly intimidated, he makes absolutely no eye contact with the creature, preferring instead to slink past with the other two. Keeping his eyes down, the man is further surprised by Anne's call to them, and shaken deeply by her apology and resulting kiss to his cheek that sets fire to it as well.

The notice to go to the bar is taken up by Albert, who is once more stunned to see what is clearly an elf. Deciding to walk over and order something rather simply, he can't help but look at Delilah out of the corner of his eye, wondering what exactly composes such a woman. Nonetheless, once he reaches the bar, Albert asks simply, "Water, please. Ideally boiled or purified already. Not sure if you guys know about that in this world though..."

Well the seven foot tall Orc was not something Benjie expected to see anything soon and it showed in him raising an eyebrow. Judging by the big fellow's reaction to Al and him, they were equally a puzzlement to him as well. For some reason Benjie couldn't help but think of the Kapre in the old legends he grew up hearing.

Then again a Kapre is suppose to smoke a ganja pipe and hang around trees. Still the height is similar.

Such a thought was gone when they entered inside. The aroma of the food, made the guerrilla sigh with pleasure, immediately becoming hungry. When one lives in the jungles of Luzon constantly in danger you learn to count your blessings when it came to meals. Forutnely it smell of pig and pies to Benjie. Just as he spotted the other Red Shield members, Anne burst forth and squeezed the both of them in an unnaturally strong yet warm embrace. Gritting teeth in unexpected pain and feeling the mug on his cheek, Ben listen to the drunk pirate apologize to both Al and him for different reasons.

Its like she just went to confession or something.

He sliently thought and murmured back, accepting her apology. More so to escape the hug that threaten to crush his bones but Benjie appreciated her gesture nonetheless. One would be tempted to think that someone like Anne wouldn't even bring it up but she continued surprise him. Personally he like the sound of grabbing a new drink but the mention of toasting Yuzuki caused the Filipino to grimace for a brief moment.

He chose to ignore it for the time being and focused on getting something to wash down the throat. Walking over to the stamd where the sharp ear bartender attended. Normally he would offer to pay but Benjie didn't think the few pesos and American dollars in his pockets would be accepted as payment. He slightly grinned in amusement at Al's order, thinking how his bar owner of a cousin, Dante would laugh his butt off at such a request.

"I have whatever my friend got over there."

He said politely, pointing to the drunken Anne at the Red Shield table.

The Elven Bartender makes nothing of Albert's request for water. He goes to a large barrel with a tall glass, and comes back to set the tall glass of crystal clear water in front of Albert. Hearing Benji's request, he actually smirks "Rich tastes as well, I see." He goes to another barrel and comes back with a tall mug of amber liquid. "Moon Spirit, enjoy." The 'Moon Spirit' has the taste of fermented corn, or 'moonshine' as it would be termed in America.

When the men return with their drinks, Anne raises her mug with an unsteady hand. It is possible she is actually approaching her limit. "To Yuzuki. May she have peace now, and may I get the chance to strangle whoever blew her into high Heaven!" She exclaims and chugs the last of her drink, slamming the empty mug down. Which with her strength shatters the thing, and shakes the table causing everyone to look her way. Delilah makes a move in their direction, but is stopped by Odallwa's hand yet again. She huffs at his look of 'Let them be', but remains loyal and leans back on the wall again while Odallwa comes to the head of the table. Anne slumps forward onto the table, putting her face right in a ceramic plate.

A younger Elvish boy comes from behind the bar, broom and dustpan in hand to quietly clean up the glass from around the now limp Anne. Odallwa comes up beside Anne, feels for a pulse on her neck, and bends down to put his ear to her back. "Pulse....slow but fine...and breathing good." He sets Anne's hat upon her head and pats her on the shoulder. "The lady's finally had her fill." He beckons to the front at the Orc who comes over, and with surprising gentleness picks up Anne without bringing the plate with her but does replace her hat as it falls off in the process. He holds her across both arms, bridal-style, and goes to a door that the young Elf opens for him. He ducks to pass through and the boy closes it.

"They have an infirmary and nurse who will look after her. No worries." Odallwa says to the other two men to alleviate any worries. He gestures at the feast and the plates before them. "Please, eat your fill gentlemen. Just as well we have you two, as ourcomrades stationed in Doren opted not to show. Soon I will bore you all with a speech, so please enjoy." He smiles and returns to his compatriots.

The two are left to eat, and converse as the Red Shiled Guild mingle amongst themselves. The Orc returns from the infirmary and resumesh his post at the front doors.

The young man takes his water carefully, wondering if the water here is somehow different before turning about and walking towards the table. Taking his seat, he raises the glass with her timidly, not being accustomed to this kind of scene. It is as Albert is drinking his water that Anne crushes the mug, causing him to jump enough that his own knees hit the underside of the table lightly. Cursing mentally, he can't help but glare at her before sighing, figuring the woman was simply pass-out drunk. Odallwa's confirmation puts him further at ease as he rubs his knees with one hand and takes a few sips with the other.

Grabbing a plate of grilled fish, Albert begins to eat carefully and almost like a gentleman, though that has more to do with his disdain for getting his hands dirty than anything else, as he quietly awaits Odallwa's speech. There are far too many people here for him to feel comfortable.

"Thank you bartender."

Benjie said, meaning it with full sincerity. Inwardly he was glad that pointed ear man was generous enough to grant his request despite what he had learned about people's views on Strangers like him. Perhaps the Red Shield paid the guy extra money to be nice to the newcomers. Either way, Benjie made his way to the table alongside Albert and sat next to Anne. Then the red head Irish went into her toast for her fallen Japanese friend and made the threat to the one who killed her.

The guerrilla sliently refused to join such a toast and was taken aback by the force of Anne slamming and crushing her cup. The late Yuzuki was never not his comrade, she threaten cut out his tongue when they first met. Granted it wasn't the worst treatment he ever been experienced by Japanese and he was an unknown to their group at the time. All the same it reminded him of what her people are capable of. Still he can't understand why she fought and died for Anne and Albert like she did.

Such ponderings made him uncomfortable and he lifted his mug in the air and proclaimed in Tagalog.

"Mabuhay!" (Live great!)

With that personal toast, Ben proceeded to gulp some of the Moon Sight ale down the throat. It felt so good to him that he drank of half it gone in an matter of seconds. Wiping his mouth with a free hand he chuckle at Anne passing out and resting her face on a plate. She must've went through several rounds before they got here, the resistance fighter considered. While the pirate was being escorted out for treatment and rest, Benjie saw a small pie plate and grabbed for it.

Unlike Albert he did not bother with being a gentleman about eating it. Ripping a chunk of the pie with his own right hand, he consumed the piece readily and he made a pleasant grunt while chewing.

Must some kind of berries in it I think. This sure beats eating monkey flesh back on Bataan.

Consuming it he went after another piece without hesitation.

Odallwa stands at the head of the table everyone have been seated at, and clears his throat to draw all attention to him. Delilah leaves her spot on the wall to sit with glass in hand. The others do the same.

"My fellows. I am glad to see you have come here to properly celebrate the unity of our homelands. To our guests, thank you for joining us." He raises his glass in the direction of Albert and Benji. "You have come bearing the news of a new conflict, but know that we do not begrudge you in the least. No truly devoted member of Red Shield would resent you for bringing to light what threatens the peace of our land, the very cause for our foundation." Odallwa raises his glass higher, and the rest follow suit. They say the following in unison.

"We explore to discover threats, and the lost in need. We chronicle to preserve the power of knowledge. We do all we can to defend the peace of our lands." The group raises their voice and says "We are The Red Shield Guild!" A silence comes over the hall as they then take their drinks.

In that silence, the front doors are heard swinging open.

Everyone hears the Orc bellow "Red Shield only!" Looking to the doors, they see a group of eight people gathered in the doorway, all conceal under black cloaks and hoods. The Orc goes for his immense sword, but stops at the sound of a pistol firing once. Then two more times in quick succession. The Orc stumbles, then falls on his back with a loud thud. This reveals a ninth person was standing in front of him; the Japanese officer they had seen only hours before. He held his service pistol up with a large grin on his face. He aims it at the assembled group, and the two men on either side of him then draw similar long-barreled rifles.

The hall is filled with the sound of these two rifles firing at a rapid rate. The two Elves duck behind the bar as bullets shatter glasses and rupture barrels. Two of the Red Shield members fall to the floor, shot straight off their seats. Albert finds himself protected by none other than Delilah, who stands in front of him. Held out in her hands is a baton like they have seen Odallwa hold earlier, but the hand holding it is now within a large round shield made of translucent red light. Benjie has likewise been saved by Velano in the same manner. Looking around, the two will see that all surviving members of Red Shield have the same shield of red light before them. At their feet are several bullets. The shooters are motioned to stop by the Japanese officer, who is even more amused.

"Warning shots! Now comes the true storm!" He bellows and the two more of the black-cloaked figures draw similar weapons, then fan out and begin firing on the survivors of the first volley while shooting from the hip.

"Form The Wall!" Odallwa shouts over the thunder of the guns.

"Move with me!" Delilah yells back at Albert as she moves with the remaining Red Shield as they gather into a circle on the open floor, forming a wall that holds against the second volley of fire; though the shields crackle as if being strained.

One of the batons from a fallen Red Shield rolls along the floor and rests before Albert's feet. The symbols burned into it are unintelligible to him, but should he pick it up he will feel an inner warmth.

This second volley ends with no casualties. There is a brief few moments as the four with the rifles eject their ammo magazines, and are given new ones by another who have been following them. Benjie, the seasoned soldier, and Albert as well due to his experience, will know the rifles are of similar make to the M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle.

Pausing his meal for a moment as he listens to Odallwa, Albert decides to also raise his glass timidly, unsure if he should be participating in this. It's a nice, short speech, to which Albert drinks a little, but the following hellfire is unlike anything the man has endured before. Arrows and swords are one thing. But rapid, stupendously large gunshots directed at him is another.

It all happens incredibly quickly, the disoriented Albert finding himself suddenly following Delilah's orders as people fall around him. His mind registers the presence of the Japanese officer from earlier, then realizes that as they're pushed into a circle, chances are they may be entirely screwed. This might be it for him. This might really be it. His parents. Siblings. Family will know nothing of what happened to him. Anne will find out eventually, but probably be killed. Yuzuki's death will go unavenged. It will have been entirely for naught, in a world she knew almost nothing of and that cared almost nothing about her. Just like his own death. And these goddamn sons of bitches were the ones going to do it. That Japanese shitlord and his Hitler master. It really pissed Albert off as his fear transmuted into raw, absolute, undeniable anger.

The baton drew little of Albert's attention as it seemed they were done for, but there was one thing he wanted to try before they all died. Thrusting out his palm towards the Japanese officer, he peered at the man with intense, maniacal rage as he whispered to those close to him, "They can't fire when those boxes aren't in the rifles," while also mentally envisioning the Asian man's very blood coursing through his vena cava, pulmonary arties, and heart vessels. And with all the intent of a man bent on taking one last son of a bitch with him before he died, Albert went out on a limb and practically yelled at that very blood to stop moving with his own hand, and then swiftly turned his palm into a crushing fist designed to apply a massive amount of pressure that was entirely intended to rip the bastard's heart clean through his sternum.

Of course, all of these things could simply be the insane mental ramblings of a madman about to die.

Benjie had bitten a piece of roasted pig and was toasting more eagerly to Odallwa's speech, when he heard the door forced opened by cloaked intruders. Then he heard the familiar shots of a pistol, killing the Orc Guard at his post. Sure enough the resistance fighter saw it was the Japanese officer from the camp attack.

Instantly Benjie's eyes narrowed in utter fury, he went for his handgun but it was too late as some of the dark cloaked figures opened up with deadlier firepower.

Just then Velano sprang in front of him, with the magic powered baton, activating a large shield and deflecting the bullets. Nodding thanks to the old man and cursing at his carelessness, Ben joined the encircled shield wall with the surviving guild members. The rate of ammunition wasted and the type of the guns being wielded did indeed remind him of the browing automatic rifle.

Damn it, we can't catch a break from these SOBs!

He looked for an angle to return fire but the collection of shields, though protective made such an effort difficult. The smug expression and tone of the enemy commander caused Benjie's blood to boil. Restraining from himself from charging out, he noted that only four out of the eight other hostiles seem armed with guns with an ammo carrier assisting them. An idea swiftly surfaced and Benjie, holstering the gun brought out the last grenade he had on him.

Pulling the pin and waiting for a few seconds the Filipino fighter tossed it above the shields toward the feet of the enemy riflemen and exploded. It should scatter the most of the enemy if the small bomb failed to kill any of them, giving the defenders some breathing space.

"BURN IN HELL!!"

Ben roared at the hostiles and immediately picked up the baton that Al ignored. Then a shield came to life in his right hand and he joined the circle while gripping the pistol with the other. Using the newfound protection sergeant aimed and pulled the trigger, firing a round toward the center of the nearest target in sight.

One of the the rifleman and his ammo carrier could do nothing to avoid the grenade while the other pair retreats. It explodes and showers them not only with its own shrapnel and fire, but wooden splinters from the sections of floor it destroys in the process. The bodies fall down the hole into the basement screaming, weapons along with them.

Red Shield takes the hint from Albert, and uses the opening created by Benji to break the wall and advance on the remaining three riflemen swiftly before they can reload. Odallwa rushes one, and slams him into the wall with his shield, knocking the man out. That ones ammo carrier retreats to the others.

A second is engaged by Velano. The elder soldier flicks his wrist, and the red shield reforms into a long sword of red energy. He swings this sword and slices the rifle in half before he can fire another round. Startled, the rifleman and ammo carrier are slammed together between the shields of two other members.

Delilah does the same as Velano as she rushes the last pair who are near the bar. Her shield becomes a sword in mid-swing, and not only destroys the rifle but slices the gunner across his face. This man falls to the floor screaming, while the ammo carrier backs into the bar. The bartender springs up from behind the bar, and holds a long knife to the man's throat, holding him in place.

The Japanese Commander, the target of Albert's rage-fueld magic, drops his pistol as he convulses and falls to the floor. He shakes, wheezes, but the stops and comes back to his feet breathing heavily. Albert will feel a sudden, strong force push back at him.

"Date Hizashi, you rash fool." a voice from outside the open door admonishes the man in a tone that is not angry, but very much not pleased. There is also a clear German/Austrian accent to it. The voice's owner comes into the light of the hall, confirming any fears that may have arisen. It is the former Chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler; he is younger than most pictures Albert or Benjie would have seen, but otherwise still wears his usual attire complete with the red Nazi party armband and infamous mustache. He looks at Albert with stern, steely eyes while his right hand is held up in the air in the equally-infamous Nazi salute. Should Albert attempt any magical relatiation, or Benji likewise by other means, they will feel the equivalent of an iron wall between them and the former Fuhrer.

"I feel you, young man." Hitler starts "Your anger. It would have rended Hizashi's heart from his sternum, if I weren't here." He cracks a smile "Good for him. I have already lost valuable weapons. Easier to replace than leaders." He brings out his other hand, and the remaining Red Shield members are lifted off the ground and propelled against the far wall. They yell, then groan in pain after hitting the wall. Benjie and Albert stand alone as Hitler advances with arm relaxing, but not falling. He comes betwen his men, and them. He ignores Benji for Albert.

"You know this worlds' magic. But your understanding is lacking, and so you are no threat to me." He clenches his fist. "Whoever taught you, either they were a poor teacher, or you a poor student." Albert and Benji will feel their very lungs being squeezed. Hitler glowers at the pair. "I came to send a message to you, and Red Shield, not to wipe you all out. I could now, if I wished. But I will only tell you there is a winning side to the coming war, and you are for now on the losing side." His eyes dart to the ammo carrier being held by the bartender. He blinks, and the captive man's neck snaps loudly as his body falls limp. "What say you, my fellow Strangers?" He asks bringing his eyes back to the pair. "Stand with me, and you will rule this new world we have found ourselves in." Hitler releases his invisible hold on their lungs to allow them to speak.

What once seemed to be their end is surprisingly shaping up to become a victory as Benjie's grenade tears apart multiple of their enemies and everyone begins rushing their targets. Many of them fall quickly and Albert finds himself grinning, relishing the torment that he is inflicting upon the Japanese bastard while also feeling surprised that the world actually bent itself to his will. And then, the world itself seems to stop as his happiness drains away, his magic rebuked by an invisible force that makes him feel as if his body just slid backwards a few inches.

And then, the second surprise of the night comes in the form of Hitler himself having the audacity to simply walk inside his enemy's very city and attack them directly, tossing their allies like ragdolls. Albert's jaw is agape as the man enters, his appearance sending off alarm bells in Albert's mind indicating that he must have access to some kind of youth potion or power considering the dude looks mighty good for a man who shot himself in a bunker. But quickly, Albert adjusts his attention to Hitler, intent on silencing him before he causes more trouble. The hand that once held Date's heart focuses upon Hitler, but despite all of Albert's focus, he just can't break through this weird metaphorical wall that Albert feels. Perhaps it's Hitler's magic? Or maybe an item...

And then there is a crushing sensation in his lungs as Albert begins to feel like he is submerged dozens of meters beneath the water, practically unable to breath, seeding a growing panic as Hitler explains his reasons for appearing here. The insult to Albert's ability hurts, but is understandable. He's only been doing this stuff for about a day, and has no idea how long Adolf has been here. If only he'd had more time, perhaps this fight might've ended with Hitler's head on a pike. Hitler's raw power is unmistakable, as is his cruelty, as he ends his own subordinate's life with a blink.

What has unfolded so far has been bone chilling to Albert as his lungs are finally released, allowing him to exhale forcefully and inhale repeatedly, trying to fix the gaseous pressures in his body. Looking around at the Red Shield lying upon the ground, the dead men strewn around, the modern rifles that somehow ended up in this current world. And then there's Hitler himself, which Albert returns his attention to. Full of unbridled power, yet calm. The chances of the 'good guys' winning seems rather slim. But most of all, in Hitler, Albert sees a man with an uncanny mastery of magic. A man potentially capable of allowing Albert to realize and exceed his full potential. And that is highly alluring to him. There are incredible risks associated with it, and Albert fully expects that he will have to be rather... harsh, to various people. But an end goal begins forming in his mind as he once more looks back at the others, sighs deeply, and then locks eye with Hitler as he extends his hand in the typical Nazi salute, speaking some of the little German he knows, "Mein Fuhrur!"

Just as they were turning the tide on their attackers when it reversed again. Benjie's eyes widen and his mouth as Adolf Hitler appeared. The tyrant looked younger than he remembered from photos and newsreels. Yet it wasn't the worst thing compared to what happen next. He lifted his pistol to shoot but felt the invisible wall between them and then watch in horror as the former Furhur threw the Red Guild Shield members to the wall without even touching them.

No this can't be!

Sergeant Defilno could look on when the infamous figure prattle on his monologue toward Albert, until feeling his lungs being gripped by an unnatural force and then Hitler broke the neck of a captive soldier of his just by blinking. Gasping for air, Ben felt utterly helpless, a familiar feeling he had known and hated at the fall of Bataan back in 1942. He was able to hear Hitler's offer to the both of them and Ben scowl in respond despite the pain. A moment later Benjie felt the lungs finally released.

Looking back at the Austrian/German with defiance Ben was about to tell the human monster where he can shove that offer when he heard Al say the words.

"Mein Furhur."

As if stabbed in the back, Ben turned toward Albert in shock and saw him lift that hated Nazi salute. Disbelief turned into contempt, Ben squeezed his hands in slient fury. Suddenly Benjie Deflino spit at Al's face and then looked back toward Hitler and his party with his own answer in an sarcastic tone.

"Fellow strangers huh, your sales pitch has slightly changed former chancellor...or has it really? All the same I'll take my chances with the other side."

He gestured toward the force restrained Red Shield members.

"Just to be clear I'm Filipino, born and raised. You can ask that Japanese bastard behind ya how impossible it is to convert someone like me to a cause like yours."

Benjie paused briefly to collect himself then finished.

"Victory or death, regardless of the outcome it will be far better than being one of your bootlicking pets!"

"One of you sees the turn of history." Adolf looks at Benji, then back at Albert. "You might have thought proclaiming me as your Fuhrer would suffice, but you are mistaken. I require more of my soldiers." Hitler looks again at Benji, then at the Red Shield members who are slowly getting to their feet. He blinks again, and Delilah is lifted off her feet and is suddenly hovering before Albert. She does not scream when this happens, only grunts in surprise and while facing Albert, looks at him with narrow eyes and face contorted in an angry grimace.

"Look at her." Hitler says coming around to stand beside the floating woman. He chuckles and grabs her by the chin. "The brown eyes, the brown hair, the fair skin. She might be pretty if she weren't so fierce, nein?"

Delilah looks down at Hitler and moves her mouth as if to spit on him, but she suddenly screams in pain and her body convulses for a couple seconds. "Bastard." She growls.

"Yes, very fierce. I might have liked her in my ranks, but…." He lets go of her chin and taps the center of her chest. "...I want you to kill her. Look her in the eye, and use your will to rip out her heart as you were planning for Date. Then you may leave with us, and begin your ascent with me." He waves at Benji, and the man will feel his feet planted to the floor just in case he were to try and interfere with Albert's initiation. The rest of Red Shield look on, frozen by the reality of knowing they are powerless to stop whatever happens given Hitler's power.

Internally, Albert's heart drops when Hitler declares that he requires more of his soldiers, making him wonder just what the hell he was going to make Albert do. But then his thoughts are answered quite plainly as Delilah is brought before him. Looking at the woman as ordered, Albert's face is utterly without emotion whilst beneath the surface, his mind is surging. As he locks eyes with her and listens to Hitler, there is a faint trace of sadness, though even this is fairly hidden in order to avoid Hitler's judgement. In truth, Albert wishes this were avoidable, but as he analyzes the situation, he sees no other way out. He cannot possibly create an illusion to fool Hitler considering the man's power and will. So the only way forward, is outward.

Knowing that he cannot apologize for what he is about to do, Albert merely closes his eyes, thrusts his hand forward, just above the joining of Delilah's ribs, and mentally plunges it down through the bone and cartilage to find her beating heart. It beats strongly and defiantly, giving Albert pause as to whether or not he can even do it, but he must try nonetheless in order to advance his goals.

With a sinister calmness, Albert feels the blood coursing and then attempts to seize it violently with his now fisted hand, the surrouding cardiac tissue no doubt convulsing wildly at its rapidly dropping oxygen supply. And then, Albert swiftly pulls the fist backwards while balancing it as his other palm flies forward, as if bracing her body.

If it wasn't for Hitler's accursed restraint, Benjie would've drew his gun out. He stood there helpless to what was happening. Even so he tried to move with every fiber of his being, yet Ben couldn't do anything but cause pain to himself. He had wintess countless gruesome sights before, executions and mass murder in the war so he knew what was coming. Even so did not it lessen his sorrow for the act. He seen plenty of Japanese and even some fellow Filipinos who had collaborated with the invaders do murder-initiations.

Yet never in his wildest dreams did the sergeant thpught he would see a so-called American do the same...until now. The traitor was too ashamed to even look at his victim, Deliah in the eye, pulling at her heart. To think a few minutes before Deliah saved Al's life and this is how he repays her, Ben thought with disgust. Teeth gritting, the resistance fighter stared murderously at Albert.

"Sumpain ang inyong kaluluwa sa sheol taksil!" (Damn your soul to hell traitor!)

Even though audience may not know the exact words Benjie uttered but they would clearly recognize the hatred by the tone alone.

Delilah's grimace morphs into a mask of agony. Her heart bursts out of her chest, splattering blood onto Albert and dripping on the floor as it hung in the air. Hitler chuckles and snaps his fingers; the heart ignites and fills the air with the horrid stench of flesh and blood burning. The ashes fall to the floor as Hitler reaches out and pats Albert on the shoulder. Delilah's body drops unceremoniously at the same time. Her empty eyes stare up at the ceiling, her mouth agape in disbelief.

"Good work, my new student. Come, we've done enough here for tonight." Hitler waves his hand, and the bodies and equipment of his fallen soldier ignite. The hall fills with smoke, except for a clear 'bubble' around Hitler and Albert as he leads him out. Hizashi does not look pleased, still clutching his chest and glaring at Albert as he passes, but he follows with the rest of their remaining raiding party.

The Elven Bartender and the younger one are quick to extinguish the flames with buckets of water. Meanwhile the remaining Red Shield members have returned to their feet and come to the bodies of their fallen comrades. Odallwa falls to his knees before Delilah; with a somber face closes her eyes, and closes her mouth. Lastly he takes her arms and crosses them over the hole in her chest. He and the others bow their heads. "Rest now daughter of the sword and shield." The other fallen receive the same somber preparation and goodbyes.

Outside, the streets are eerily quiet. Everyone within Albert's field of vision is frozen in place, maybe even in time, as Hitler and the others climb onto the backs of a flock of Griffins that are the sole things in motion. There are ten, one for each of those who had arrived. Hitler beckons for Albert to sit on the back of one of those now without a rider. "Do not worry, we have them trained very well. Simply climb onto its saddle, hold on, and it will follow the rest." There is as Hitler said a saddle on the Griffin's back with handles to allow one to lie forward and hold onto handles(much like to ride a modern racing motorcycle).

Hitler gets onto the back of a Griffin, and the flock runs down at the frozen quiet streets flapping their wings and taking off into the dark night sky. When Hitler and his entourage have left the ground, the streets of York around the hall resume moving. Citizens look at each other in confusion before turning their eyes skyward at the sound of Griffin calls.

Albert could practically feel the young woman's heart forcing its way through the bone and cartilage of her sternum, making him physically ill until the man felt her blood explode outwards onto him. An intense wave of nausea overcame Albert as he opened his blood-soaked eyes, gazing upon her floating heart and lifeless, airborne corpse, Hold it together. Hold it together. Hold it together. Holy shit... It took everything Albert had to keep himself from vomiting and falling apart, trying to stop his feelings from displaying themselves on his face. This became even more difficult when the heart ignited and burnt quickly to ash, the smell making Albert's resistance almost unbearable.

Practically incapable of not analyzing her face, Albert is brought back to the world by Hitler's call and pat on the shoulder, the young man only able to say, "Okay." Walking alongside and behind Hitler, Albert begins walking outside, catching eyes with Hizashi for an instant before breaking the eye contact.

In the streets, the unmoving townsmen amazes Albert once more, following Hitler's orders as instructed after pausing a moment to take the Griffin's majesty in, This is madness. Hitler can somehow even stop time with incredible precision?

Albert holds onto the handles intensely as the group begins their takeoff, finally soaring into the starlit sky. Momentarily looking down at the people moving in York, Albert removes a hand from the handle, peering at his reddened palm atop York. He then uses it to wipe the blood off his face, piling yet more blood onto it that Albert looks carefully at before his eyes narrow. Turning the hand into a tight fist, there is a look of solidified determination upon his face as he returns the hand to its handle, disappearing into the night with what he had proclaimed as his enemy not hours before.

Benjie had seen many gruesome things before coming to this world but in that moment Deliah's heart burst out of her chest was a new one. His furious expression became that of disgusted shock. Everything stopped for the Islander, watching the now dead Red Shield member dropped to the floor. He suddenly dropped to his knees as smoke filled the tavern, masking the exit of Hitler's party. Even as the fog faded Ben just knelt in his spot, staring blankly at Deliah's dead expression while her comrades tended to her.

Not again, not again, not again.

He thought repeatedly, fighting back the haunted memories he had locked away in the mind. Now it all flooded out as a broken dam, rendering the Filipino fighter motionless on the ruined floor. Ben lowered his head in utter grief. It is true he had not known the woman warrior for long and she pissed him off earlier with her judgmental demeanor. Yet in spite of all her suspicions toward their party Deliah did not hesitate to protect them, only for the college boy to turn quisling and murder her minutes later. The purpose all to earn a place within the ranks of a madman.

That same tyrant who now had unnatural powers and displayed them in horrific fashion. Noting in his past life could've prepared Ben for something so frightening. Helplessness, a feeling he long hated with a passion swelled immediately within the soul, that it caused Benjie to shake bodily that he had to restraint himself further or else go mad.

"How do we fight against something like that? It's impossible."

He whispered to himself in despair with head still bowed. Then in an instant Benjie's mind teleported to a time long ago...

Island of Luzon, Commonwealth of the Philippines, Year 1940

Ben, a few years younger, wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts, that was completely soaked in sweat all over jogged wearily down a dirt road. In front of him however a column of men in similar attire, keeping a steady pace more so than him. Chest burning and legs soared from the brutal run he and his fellow recurits had been forced to endure Benjie felt like he was about to give out.

Some distance away with the training unit a loud voice can be heard cursing at the men.

"Move your asses, you sons of bitches, keep up the pace! My lola(grandma) can run this course better than all of you and she's blind."

To the left side opposite of the moving column was the drill instructor, Sergeant Lapeña, a forty three year old Ilcano with a fierce complexion that many would compare to that of a fire breathing dragon.

If it wasn't for the exhaustion and trying not to collapse outright Benjie would've muttered some than less flattering words about the instructor. Instead that devil of a man noticed Ben falling behind and paced toward him.

I just hit the shit fan.

Private Defilno thought, with gritted teeth as the pain worsen at the same. Sergeant Lapeña moved opposite of him and asked disdainfully.

"Want to quit private?"

"No drill sergeant!"

"Why are you here Defilno?"

Benjie struggled to answered back.

"To serve my country, drill sergeant."

Lapeña growl at those words, while their footsteps continued to pound away the dirt below them.

"Could've fooled me. If this is impossible for you maggot, all you have to do is stop and the pain will go away. Hell there's even a nice ride home in the ticket. Sounds tempting dosen't it?"

Upon those words, Ben bit his own lip and increased the pace speed to catch with his buddies with newfound adrenaline pumping through. Sergeant Lapeña hot on his trail, shouting for him to keep moving, causing Benjie shout outloud as if he was charging an enemy position.

The journey down memory lane ended and Ben sighed in exhaustion and silently vowed.

I won't quit...no matter what. Just like you taught me drill sergeant.

Finally standing up once more Ben looked toward Odallawa and the others. Nodding with no small amount of sympathy to the guild members he spoke up.

"Let me help you bury your comrades. It's the least I can do."

"Thank you Sergeant." Odallwa says rising back to his feet. The Elves open the windows and start to fan out the smoke. Odallwa motions for Benjie to help him carry Delilah out, but before that can be done the doors fly open once again. Odallwa and the others turn and almost activate their shields again, but relax when they see who it is.

A tall Human male, clad in light metal armor walks in with an escort of six similarly attired men. The leader wears a white cap and approaches Odallwa while taking off his helmet. "What in the world happened here Odallwa? We heard something like thunder from this hall, and came with haste." He looks around at the destruction and dead all around, then comes back to Odallwa "Explain please."

Odallwa composes himself, and gives the important details of what has just happened. The newcomer listens intently, nodding and making mental notes. When the explanation is over, he shakes his head and looks down at Delilah.

"She had just told us about this new threat. They are even more dangerous than thought, to be so bold to attack the capitol and that powerful with magic." He turns to his men to issue orders. "Send a message to the King's caravan immediately. They are to return with haste. No telling if they would attack our King next."

The door through which Anne had been taken earlier opens, and Anne comes out followed by an old matronly woman. She wears only her white shirt and trousers. "What...the hell?" She asks trotting up to Benjie. The nurse is aghast at the scene, and starts going around to the other Red Shield members to check for injuries.

Anne comes to Benjie, and despite the bloodshot eyes looks sober now. "Benny? The hell happened here? I was upstairs and woke up to that woman lookin' terrified, jabbering about thunder and all kinds of nonsense. And where's Albert...." She finally sees the body of Delilah on the floor, and the color fades from her face. "No...don't tell me.."Anne looks around the hall. "Where's Al?"

Benjie was about to help pick up Deliah when the white clad warriors showed up. Their leader converse with Odallwa, who explained everything that happen. The Filipino for his part stayed quiet, feeling like he had noting to add what's been already said. Just then the insurgent spotted an old lady appeared with Anne, inwardly he sighed. Wearing only her shirt and trousers with bloodshot eyes from the recent hangover, the Irish born pirate approached him while noting the carnage around her.

Upon asked of what has happen and where was their 'friend' Ben dejectedly took out his hat with one hand. revealing bald features on his head, struggling to find the words to say.

"We were attacked by Hitler's agents. They came in armed with guns from my time. After the intial surprise, our group fought back and killed some of them. We were winning until Hitler himself appeared. He overpowered us all with sheer magic, as if it was nothing. Then the damn tyrant went on a little speech about the coming war then offered Al and me a chance to join his side."

The Philippine sergeant paused for a few seconds, looking into Anne's eyes and finally mustered to finally confess.

"Al...accepted the offer, even saluting him. Before he could however the Kraut commanded him to kill Deliah to prove his loyalty and that filthy traitor did it! Ripped her heart out even though she saved his ass earlier in the fight. Then he left with Hitler's party."
