Luggage - Soma

What type of luggage are they using?

If Soma went around carrying luggage in general, it would likely be a messenger style bag in a sturdy, waterproof material like waxed canvas or leather. He's not against materials like polyester or other recycled plastics, as long as they are water-resistant. This type of bag also makes carrying more than one easier, as he can put on one each shoulder, since he also carries a guitar case.

How large or small is the luggage?

The messenger bag is what you might call the standard size for its type. It's large enough to fit a standard 15.6" laptop and textbooks, so pretty roomy, with one large main compartment, which has a padded laptop sleeve within. It has a number of various-sized pockets that can fit items of different sizes from a pocket for a small tablet or large phone, to pencils and pens, chargers, and other necessary amenities. The guitar case is equipped with one very large central compartment and a single smaller one. These are for the guitar and sheet music, of course. Depending on the version of the character, it may even have an extra, secret compartment for storing weapons.

What color (or colors) is the luggage? Any patterns or prints?

The messenger bag is somewhere between charcoal and black, featuring pins and patches pertaining to music on the flap. The guitar case is black, presumably some type of leather from its pebbled texture and waterproof quality, with a sturdy frame to protect the valued instrument. The inside is black soft material and padding. The smaller pocket is netted.

What kinds of clothes are in there?

Soma generally carries comfortable clothes: jeans and t-shirts. There are short and long sleeves alike, to account for weather, as well as a jacket. Underwear and socks are stuffed in there somewhere with some sleeping clothes. The only shoes he carries are usually the ones on his feet.

What other kinds of special items (other than clothes, shoes, etc.) have been packed?

Soma's special items consist of his phone, headphones, notebooks or handfuls of loose-leaf paper, as well as some pencils and pens. Of course, the guitar case holds his guitar and sheet music. Depending on the version of the character, there may be a couple of guns stored in the secret compartment beneath the instrument.

Where are they traveling to?

Soma doesn't often travel. When he does, he is either evading his father or visiting his grandparents. Other reasons or destinations depend on the version of the character and the story he is placed in.

Interview With a Character - Soma

  • "Caaaaan I help you?" Soma looks skeptically at the interviewer as she approaches and asks to interview him. "Er.. sure, I guess?"

    Please tell me about yourself.

"Um.. well, my name is Soma Kai James. Weird name, I know; my mother picked it. I'm an aspiring musician and have been studying music since I was tall enough to sit at a piano. I come from a pretty wealthy family despite my current means. I'm a waiter at a cafe."

What is a typical day like for you?

"A typical day for me? I wake up at sunrise, take a shower, eat breakfast - which is usually only a cup of coffee, and go to work. I work pretty much all day, go home and eat dinner. Then I compose or play music until I pass out. Nothing special really."

What do you do when you are not doing what you regularly do?

"I take on an extra job or two over the summer when business picks up because of vacation times. I volunteer at a local theater for performing arts, keeping the place clean during the off-seasons."

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years?

"In the next five to ten years, I hope to have gotten at least one of my compositions published and to have performed in front of an audience - maybe open for a local band at the cafe. On a larger scale, maybe even be a well-known musician and travel for concerts."

Do you have a special someone in your life right now?

"That - um - well, it's like this.. I do and I don't. Technically, I have a lot of special people in my life, you know family and friends. In the way of a significant other? Well, I'm a little slow when it comes to dating."

  • "Oh, hello again." Soma is surprised to see the interviewer. "I take it you want to interview me again?" He sits down with her.

    What's your favorite animal/creature? Why?

"My favorite animal would be a dog. Specifically Sherman, my family's old Great Dane. He was always so lively and loved to play. He would even sing - or rather howl - while I played the piano or my guitar. I can remember him taking up the majority of my bed every night. I miss that dog."

Tell me about something you're passionate about and why.

"My passion is undoubtedly music. I've loved music for as long as I can remember. My mom used to sing a lot, lullabies and such. I suppose that's where I get it from. But music is art. With notes and sometimes lyrics you can paint pictures, reach out to the hearts of so many people and uplift them."

If you could go anywhere, where would you go and why?

"There are a few places that I can think of that I would love to go visit. Namely, Vienna's Musikverein or the Carnegie Hall. How amazing would it be to get to see an orchestra at one of them?!"

What do you think about the afterlife? Do believe in it, and the existence of the soul?

"The afterlife? Yeah, I guess I could say I believe in it. I like to think that there's a better place out there where our souls all go to find eternal rest and peace, maybe even reunite with our past loved ones."

Is there something you desire more than anything?

"More than anything... My desire would be just to be happy. As much as I would like to be a musician, so long as I have music - no matter where life takes me - I'll be happy."

  • "What? Another interview? How much information do you need?"

What is your preferred genre/type of music and why?

"I don't think I have a favorite genre of music, exactly. I listen to all different kinds; although, if I had to name one, it would be the classical variety. Without lyrics, there are so many more ways to interpret the music, so many more ways it can speak to you. Figuratively speaking, of course."

Do you cook? What's your favorite food? (If you don't eat... traditional foods, then what do you eat?)

"I do cook, a lot of different things. I like foreign foods, and most anything oriental. My favorite has got to be sweets. I know it's kind of a girl thing, but you just can't beat sweets. Banana bread or coffee cake? Yum!"

If you had a spirit animal, what would it be? Or, if you actually have a spirit animal, tell me about it.

"A spirit.. animal? Um, perhaps a swan? Swans are idealistic, open-minded, and passionate. The swans' good nature often leads people to think they can take advantage of them, but beneath that serenity is a fighting spirit. Their love is fierce and unconditional, fueled by the certainty that it should last forever. Or maybe an otter. Otters are nurturing, playful, and easygoing. They often put others' needs before their own, offering what seems to be a bottomless well of compassion and care. Their decisions are guided by their feelings."

If you could go back in time and change anything, would you? (If yes) What would you change?

"If I could go back in time and change anything, it would be the way I left my family. Or maybe, the fights I had with my dad."

Would you say that you have a good relationship with your parents/guardian/creator? (Why or why not?)

"I like to think that I have a decent relationship with my grandparents, or I did when I still lived with them. My mom, too. We were a happy family, spent a lot of time together. My dad, on the other hand; he and I don't get along so well. He drinks a lot, and we would fight frequently. I ended up leaving home because of him."

  • "Jeez.. How many interviews does this make now?" Soma frowns. "What are you even doing with the answers I'm giving you?"

    What's your choice of drink?

"My choice of drink is most often something sweet. I favor white wines, though there are a few red ones I can name that I like also. But I don't really drink much."

What's your ideal romance? *wriggles brows*

"My ideal romance... is being with someone I can connect with on different levels and can appreciate music. If you mean like a date, then perhaps a night under the stars."

So, level with me. You ever done anything... naughty?

"N-naughty? Like.. sexually? I-I, um.. I'm not sure how appropriate a question that is. How is my love life even relevant? I don't think that that's information I should disclose." Soma blushes madly.

Is there anyone you just hate or get annoyed by? You ever 'teach them a lesson?'

"Everyone has at least one of those people who gets on their nerves. So, yeah, I do. I've never taught him a lesson, though. It wouldn't go over well, not for me, anyway. I'd rather walk away and live to see another day."

What's an achievement of yours? Somethin' awesome or badass you've done.

"I don't know about 'badass,' but I have gotten to play alongside another musician, a duet. It was one thing on a long list of things I want to do as a musician."

Okay, say you won a lottery. I'm talking, like, a butt load of money! What do you do with it?

"If I won a lottery, I would buy a new piano and guitar. Then, if I had any money left, I would pay to have some of my music published myself."

So, you're trapped on a desert island or in a cave or something, and you can only have one person and one object with you. Who and what do you choose? And don't say a cellphone or anything else that'll help you escape or I swear I'll punch you in the freakin' face.

"Well, I don't suppose an instrument would be of any use to me on an island. I guess I would choose a knife or a fishing rod, so I could get food. I would want to have my boss with me, I think. He's a pretty strong guy."

Interview With a Character - Lily

  • "What the hell do you wanna' interview me for?" Lily growls at the interviewer's request. "You better not tell anyone what I say."

    Please tell me about yourself.

"Where to start? My name is Lilith Quynh, but everyone calls me Lily. I'm a professional gunsmith- meaning I fix and make guns - and a thief. I make pretty good money stealing and selling things. You might have heard of my handiwork on TV."

What is a typical day like for you?

"A typical day? Well, typically, I wake up and eat, I sit around in my underwear with a cup of coffee while I browse for new clients on the net, then I go to my gang's HQ and discuss our plans. And no, I will not disclose those plans; they're top secret."

What do you do when you are not doing what you regularly do?

"Um.. I don't really know. I'm usually doing what I regularly do. Well, I guess I could say gang fights. Those aren't a regular thing, but they do happen. Maybe getting arrested, too?"

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years?

"In the next five to ten years? Well, I hope to have taken over the underground and started a revolution. If not, I guess I'll still be a thief."

Do you have a special someone in your life right now?

"Special as in intimate? No, I don't have anyone like that. Men aren't usually on the forefront of my mind; although, I do occasionally find someone to sleep with for a night. You know, have to tend to those biological urges and whatnot."

  • "You... want another interview? Why?" Lily is suspicious of the interviewer.

    What's your favorite animal/creature? Why?

"My favorite animal? Probably cats. Cats are independent, they don't need anybody; although, they'll cozy up to you every now and again. They're sleek, smooth, and stealthy, everything I try to be when on a job. Ever wonder why cat burglars are called cat burglars? Now, you know."

Tell me about something you're passionate about and why.

"Guns. I love guns. They're excellent tools for self defense and they're so articulate! I mean, they are works of art! I especially like the antique ones, those made prior to the nineteenth century."

If you could go anywhere, where would you go and why?

"Are we talking like on a vacation? Or moving somewhere? If on a vacation, I would like to go someplace tropical with white-sand beaches and crystalline water where I can lay in the sun. If to move, then a big city, kind of like this one, so I can conquer it, too."

What do you think about the afterlife? Do you believe in it, and the existence of the soul?

"The afterlife.. Is a touchy subject. Everyone has their own beliefs. I believe that, once we depart, our souls live on one way or another. We're never really gone."

Is there something you desire more than anything?

"Absolutely. Everyone has a desire. Mine? I want to get my family out of prison and punish the asshole who put them there. Okay, maybe that's two desires..."

  • "Okay, what exactly are you doing with all of this information? You better not be working with the cops."

What is your preferred genre/type of music and why?

"I like whatever music I can rock out to. If it's metal, fine; if it's pop, fine. It doesn't really matter what genre it is if it has a good beat and an appealing sound."

Do you cook? What's your favorite food? (If you don't eat... traditional foods, then what do you eat?)

"Yes, I do cook. Mostly it's Italian food and different Asian dishes. I like a plate of pasta, but I also like a bowl of rice or noodles. I don't think I could give you a definitive favorite."

If you had a spirit animal, what would it be? Or, if you actually have a spirit animal, tell me about it.

"A spirit animal.. Hm.. I could be a fox or a bear. I'm pretty slick and sly, if I do say so myself. However, in terms of fighting ability—strength and speed—along with strategic thinking, I would be a bear. I lead with courage, integrity, and compassion. People gravitate to my confidence and charisma, and I have that same stubborn pride. So, I've been told."

If you could go back in time and change anything, would you? (If yes) What would you change?

"If I could go back in time and change anything, it would be my parents and brother getting sent to prison."

Would you say that you have a good relationship with your parents/guardian/creator? (Why or why not?)

"I used to, before they got sent to prison. I mean, I love them, don't get me wrong; but I haven't seen them in years. So, things could change between us when I see them again. I like to think that we'll all be okay, though."

  • "If you come back after this, I'm gonna' fucking kill you."

    What's your choice of drink?

"My idea of a drink is anything with a kick. I drink to get drunk, so it's got to do the job quickly. I like a cup of sake or a bottle of brandy."

What's your ideal romance? *wriggles brows*

"Well, when I'm drunk, any romance will do. Heh. My ideal romance is a strong man who's not afraid to take control. I like a challenge~"

So, level with me. You ever done anything... naughty?

"Yeah, every day. I'm a thief for cripes sake. Or did you mean sexually? In that case, yeah. I've seduced a few guys for information and to steal money from their wallets."

Is there anyone you just hate or get annoyed by? You ever 'teach them a lesson?'

"Cops, mostly. If not them, then that rival gang. I've taught them a lesson multiple times, but they keep coming back for more. Maybe I just wasn't teaching forcefully enough?"

What's an achievement of yours? Somethin' awesome or badass you've done.

"My latest heist. I managed to swipe this antique pistol from a pawn shop. It's a real beauty! Too bad I had to sell it; it would have been nice to mount on my wall. At least it paid well. "

Okay, say you won a lottery. I'm talking, like, a butt load of money! What do you do with it?

"If I won a lottery, I would hire a private investigator to look into my family's case, then hire the best attorney in the country to bust them out of prison. To top it off, I'd buy myself a nice new gun and kill the cheating bastard who put them there."

So, you're trapped on a desert island or in a cave or something, and you can only have one person and one object with you. Who and what do you choose? And don't say a cellphone or anything else that'll help you escape or I swear I'll punch you in the freakin' face.

"If I were trapped with one person and one object, I'd choose to be trapped with a rifle and my buddy who's good with knives. We'd be a formidable hunting team."

Interview With a Character - Sasha

  • Please tell me about yourself.

"About me... Well, my name's Sasha Keren. I'm a university student majoring in public relations. Professionally speaking, I'm a prostitute - Sorry, I don't do women. I've been in the business for the better part of five years, since I was seventeen."

What is a typical day like for you?

"Ma'am, let me tell you: There is no real 'typical day' for me. I can't tell you what kind of crazy, unpredictable shit actually happens in my life. But if I had to say, I wake up between seven and eight o' clock in the morning, eat breakfast, take a shower, and head off to the university to attend my first class at ten. That class runs for about an hour, then there's another after that. My school day typically ends at noon, some times one o' clock if I stay for an... advisory appointment. I schmooze with the co-eds a little and go home to have lunch. That's about when the calls start coming in from clients and I go see them for varying amounts of time. It depends on how far they want to go. Sometimes, I'll take a client in the morning before classes or on my way to school. I frequently spend nights with a - um - acquaintance of mine."

What do you do when you are not doing what you regularly do?

"Hm... What do I do? Well, when I'm not seeing clients, I'm usually at home doing school work. That or I'm sleeping. But mostly I am with clients."

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years?

"Well, in the next five to ten years, I hope to have earned my degree and gotten a job in my chosen field. I'll probably still be hooking though."

Do you have a special someone in your life right now?

"Wait like... special how? Intimately special? Er.. I guess I could say I do, but I won't name names. I don't really consider people to be special or to hold any significant value. I don't love anybody! Pfft - Love! That's ridiculous! Love is overrated..."

  • "Oh, it's you." Sasha blinks at the interviewer, wary of her presence. "Ah, I know what you're here for. You want to interview me again, right? I guess that's fine. It's not like I have anything better to do." He shrugs and sits down with her.

    What's your favorite animal/creature? Why?

"My favorite animal? I guess if I had to say, it would be a dog. I remember liking them when I was little, had a stuffed one I played with a lot. But dogs are loyal creatures, natural pack animals. They won't turn on you unless they get rabies, they won't ditch you or leave you hanging, and they're always there waiting to greet you when you get home. They are man's best friend, after all."

Tell me about something you're passionate about and why.

"Passion... is a tricky subject. The only passion I ever really express is in the bedroom. Eheheh. Not that you needed to know that. Besides sex, I would say I'm passionate about philosophy and psychology. It's interesting to figure out what makes people tick, how the mind works. It's really quite fascinating stuff. You get to know people without the trouble of actually talking to them... Ironic, huh?"

If you could go anywhere, where would you go and why?

"France. Flat out, no contest. Have you ever been? It's gorgeous there. It's quiet and peaceful. I have family there - the one part of my family that doesn't bother me relentlessly. Although.. If I did move out there, they probably would bother me... Maybe I should rethink this?"

What do you think about the afterlife? Do believe in it, and the existence of the soul?

"Wait, seriously? Um.. I think that people like to believe in something greater than themselves, that there is a life after death. It gives them comfort from the idea of the possibility of there being nothing but, say, blackness. Nothing but wandering in eternal loneliness or being forgotten or something like that. I can't say that I believe in it myself, or the soul. I'm not really a man of faith. But I suppose only time and a near-death experience, if not death itself, will answer that question for certain."

Is there something you desire more than anything?

"That depends. Do you mean right now? Or ever? If right now, then yes - sex. I can't say why, but I'm kind of aroused at the moment. If ever, then perhaps satisfaction in life or success. Maybe to be able to retire to France.. away from where my family lives."

  • "What? You again?" The blond rolls his eyes. "Did you not get enough out of the last two interviews? Ugh.. Look, just make this quick alright?"

What is your preferred genre/type of music and why?

"I can't say specifically that I have a favorite type or genre of music. I listen to different kinds. But, if I had to pick only one, it would likely be soft rock. I can appreciate a heavy bass guitar, but the lyrics are typically more relatable than that of, say, rap. At least, to me. Then, I find that I frequently listen to the Alternative genre. It has all different kinds of sounds to it."

Do you cook? What's your favorite food? (If you don't eat... traditional foods, then what do you eat?)

"Yes, I do cook. I have a little box of recipe cards that my mother gave me before I left for college. It's full of many different dishes and styles like Italian, Greek, even some French. My favorite food is coffee. Okay, that's not really a food, but I must go through like three pots of coffee a day. Maybe Tiramisu, since it's made with coffee. I like most any food that's quick to prepare if I cook it. Besides that, it's anything that doesn't have mushrooms. I can't stand mushrooms."

If you had a spirit animal, what would it be? Or, if you actually have a spirit animal, tell me about it.

"Ah, I think I read about something like this in philosophy. Let's see.. I suppose it depends on what kind of specific philosophy or culture you go by though, for there are many different types of spirit animals and even similar ones can have different meanings. Perhaps a Blue Heron for self-reflection and self-reliance, or in another culture the Crane for solitude and independence. When I think about it, it would undoubtedly be the Coyote. He's the prankster and represents insight, playfulness, clowning and humor, and perhaps sarcasm."

If you could go back in time and change anything, would you? (If yes) What would you change?

"Hm.. If I could go back in time and change anything, it would be my father's murder. Or maybe, I would stop the District Attorney from pleading out the son of a bitch who killed him for lesser charges, and without parole."

Would you say that you have a good relationship with your parents/guardian/creator? (Why or why not?)

"Er.. Well, to be perfectly honest, no. The relationship between my parents and I kind of went sour when I was a kid. I mean, how can you possibly have a relationship with someone you hardly ever see? You can't. My mother and I still communicate every so often, but we're estranged at best."

  • "Another interview..?" Sasha raises an eyebrow. "You're not the interviewer from the last three... Oh! Alcohol! Ask away!"

    What's your choice of drink?

"My choice of drink is usually anything that'll give me a buzz quickly. Then, I don't often just go out and drink. I most often drink before I go to bed, because it helps me sleep; although, it gives me some pretty crazy dreams. Tell me, what do roofie mushrooms mean to you?"

What's your ideal romance? *wriggles brows*

"Ideal romance? A tall, well-built man with dark hair and a deep wallet. Doesn't matter what we do so long as I get paid. I like sex with no strings attached. And for the record, I don't do women."

So, level with me. You ever done anything... naughty?

"Well, if the previous answer wasn't obvious enough for you, then yes. And in more ways than one. I'll entertain most any kink a client has for a reasonable fee, of course. You name it, I've likely done it. And I've never been popped by the police for soliciting."

Is there anyone you just hate or get annoyed by? You ever 'teach them a lesson?'

"Yes, actually. That would be most of the human population. Though if I had to be specific, there's this guy that's living in my apartment right now. He just won't leave me alone. I try to get out for a little bit and suddenly there he is following me like a lost puppy when I made a point to ditch him. I've taught him a few lessons, he just hasn't learned anything."

What's an achievement of yours? Somethin' awesome or badass you've done.

"Hm.. Perhaps my latest prank scheme pulling through? Ah, his face when he woke up to me in bed with him.. Priceless."

Okay, say you won a lottery. I'm talking, like, a butt load of money! What do you do with it?

"Without a doubt, if I won a lottery, I would change my name and move to France. I would be able to live in peace without anyone bothering me and no one would ever be able to find me. I'd buy myself a nice house in the country and all the books I could ever read. Sit down to a cool morning with a cup of coffee and a book every day.. It would be so grand."

So, you're trapped on a desert island or in a cave or something, and you can only have one person and one object with you. Who and what do you choose? And don't say a cellphone or anything else that'll help you escape or I swear I'll punch you in the freakin' face.

"Hm... trapped.. with one person and one thing. I would choose to be trapped with my friend frequent partner of choice with a multipurpose sort of gadget. Like a Swiss army knife. That way, I could survive and still have someone to sleep with."

Luggage - Sasha

What type of luggage are they using?

Sasha's typical article of luggage comes in the form of a versatile canvas or leather travel bag.
Which one he uses depends on how much he needs to take with him.

How large or small is the luggage?

The canvas bag is the size of a normal backpack with two large pockets and a few other small ones.
The leather bag is more like a messenger bag with one very large central compartment and a few small ones.

What color (or colors) is the luggage? Any patterns or prints?

The canvas bag is a soft, neutral color between beige and army green. It has a few pins and a keychain stuck to it.
The leather bag is tan leather, with braided leather zipper pulls. The keychain from the canvas bag is often stuck to this one when used.

What kinds of clothes are in there?

Sasha would pack jeans, as jeans are versatile and can be worn for virtually everything. A few t-shirts or sweaters depending on the
environment being traveled to and his favorite jacket. Shoes consist of a pair of tennis shoes and a pair of boots. Underwear is a maybe.

What other kinds of special items (other than clothes, shoes, etc.) have been packed?

Sasha's special items consist of his laptop for schoolwork, his phone, and books. He would also pack his gun, unless he's flying.

Where are they traveling to?

Sasha doesn't actually like to travel much, but when he does, it's usually to visit family in France.

Underwear - Sasha

Sasha will wear whatever he feels comfortable in. Mostly it's boxer-briefs in neutral colors. He doesn't really feel attractive under garments are important, since they're just going to be taken off anyway. Sometimes, he doesn't wear any. And if they were comfortable, he'd wear even women's underwear. In fact, his clients would probably like that.

Do You Always Carry that With You? - Sasha

What item(s) does your character always carry around, and what kind of image does that give to the people that they meet?

If there is one thing that Sasha always has on his person, it's his single diamond earring. It's always in his ear, unless he's in the shower or otherwise submerging in water. It was made from a ring that his father gave his mother, a ring she put away when she started dating some years after her husband's death. Of course, now that she's remarried, she has another ring. Sasha took the simple, single-diamond band and had it made into an earring. His mother was very unhappy, but she does still have the wedding band, which is the more important of the two rings. She thought that, if it would help him feel better, then it was simply better to let Sasha have it.

As for what it says about Sasha as a character, the image it portrays, would likely be that he's a sentimental person. Despite his detached nature, his obviously poor virtue, and sometimes selfish behavior, he is still very emotional about his dad's death. There is nothing in his life that Sasha wouldn't give to have more time with his dad. It was incredibly selfish of him to steal the ring; however, he only wanted it as a token of his father and the relationship he had with his parents before the loss. It might also be said that the ring shows just how sneaky and conniving Sasha can be, how cold when it comes to other peoples' feelings. He stole the ring from his mother's jewelry box without considering how she would feel about it; although, it wasn't a malicious act meant to hurt her, either.
