Name: Esperna (called Espy by friends)
Race: Spirit Keeper
- A Spirit Keeper is a type of elven variant whom which undergo a ritualistic ceremony of rites in order to be more attuned with the spirits. Due to a magical curse brought about the world where these elves live, Spirit Keepers are important in order to maintain a balance between the living and the dead by guiding spirits through the crosslands (pretty much the underworld). Generally they take on an ashen gray skin color but their hair and eyes become almost like fire flickering upwards into a darkened sky. They are also marked by the Spirit Keeper symbol somewhere on their bodies--most of the time on their face.
Age: Unknown
Gender: Female
Personality: Esperna is one that tents to stick out of the crowd. Not exactly a leader, but definitely not a follower, she likes to dance to the beat of her own drum. She is free and energetic, but despite her almost childish nature at times, she takes her tasks very seriously. However, many misinterpret her intentions by how deceptive she may be. More often than not, she has turned soul guiding into a game and has taken souls from her fellow keepers in attempt to bring some liveliness into their line of work. The Thief, is what they often call her and everyone seems to become guarded whenever she slips into a room. Guard your souls, because Esperna
will take them.
Bio: It was as if Esperna was born for this. Out of the dozens and dozens of children born in her time, she was one of five that had been mystically chosen. She accepted her fate early on, believing that it was an honorable privilege rather than a burden. As a child she wore her destiny proudly. When she became of age, she eagerly went through her ceremony, despite butchering the rituals. Constantly mocked for failing at something they had been training for their entire childhood, Esperna had an odd reaction. She strove to do better, but instead of pushing herself too hard, she became a bit of a class clown. Easily accepting herself for what she was, Espy continued with her work, and eventually became just as adept as all the others her age.
But life can be a bit cruel at times. Or, rather, people can be. While on a trail against others within her class, Esperna was left alone, while others grouped up. Every soul that was out for the taking was sniped from her. So she decided to show her wit. She couldn't just be who she was anymore. She had to push herself to do more if she wanted to become what she was destined to. Maybe she took it a little far, though, as she made crafty moves in order to snatch souls from her classmates and raced to send them through the crosslands.
This kind of behavior continued into her adulthood, and warranted her the unsavory title. Stealing from even some of the most prestigious Soul Keepers, Esperna has acquired an antagonist view from others. She, however, has taken on that mantle as well. She is who she is, and so long as it brought her enjoyment from the game, she would accept it.
