THE STORY of the Reimei Emperor is one every Easterner knows off by heart, recited and retold every time the year passes on to a new one. Who doesn't know of the legend? Emperor Reimei, who overthrew the tyrant Seijin (誠仁) that turned the country into his personal playground, and established an era of peace and harmony between the two races that shared the East - humans and youkai. His brilliance and light even managed to touch the Four Beasts, their truce and alliance giving birth to an equally powerful being, the Golden Dragon, guardian of the East and its humble protector. He who was born a mere peasant boy was blessed by the Fox Sage, crossed the vast land to gather a group of unlikely allies to ultimately erase the name of the Seijin era and the puppets that worked in the shadows. Their strings on the horrible ruler and his witch of a wife, Empress Nou (濃), were severed at last.

Yanagi Himura, the first of her line, a proud female general who was frightening on the battlefield, and no man dared to look down upon her. Prince Hakutaku, the son who rejected his tyrant father, a brave wielder of the spear and a boy who fought against his own flesh. His sister, Tsubaki-hime, and the Emperor's wife-to-be. She was a talented tactician and a lady of the court, unafraid to work behind the back of her corrupted father. Huli, the nine-tailed wise fox who knew the way of exorcism, the Emperor's guiding hand alongside her best friend. Ariya, an optimistic spirit who danced across the battlefield wielding holy light, burning the poison of their king from their heart. Anamatva, he who followed the shadows, made sure none of their enemies would see the light of day if they fled from the heart of battle.
