We're closed for the moment!
It started with a disturbance off the coast of the Atlantic Seaboard, something unprecedented that experts would later theorize to be some kind of heavy explosion in the waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. It had been massive, causing tidal waves to smash into the coasts of North and South America. What had been the cause was virtually unknown, but effects could be felt across the world. The least odd of these were the strange weather patterns that began to affect these regions of the world.
No, what was the strangest was that people started to change. They started to develop powers. Powers of all kinds that you would have thought impossible outside of a comic book. The various governments started to refer to these people as Conduits, for a study into those gaining new abilities led to the discovery that these people had been born with a special gene that not all humans possessed-- the Conduit gene. Somehow, some way, the event had caused their powers to awaken.
It was happening all over the world, awakenings occurring in Africa, Europe, and the Americas. It's been six months since that time.
People were scared. It was hard not to see Conduits as something horrible when an event so catastrophic had seemingly caused their existence. Conduits were seen as freaks, as monsters, and as mutants.
You are one of these Conduits. You may have tried to not use your powers or keep them hidden, but maybe you wanted to be open about them. Unfortunately, either way, a Conduit with their powers awakening is often an eyesore. The people of Millenium City have noticed you and see you as just another freak. They fear you. You are infamous.
As a Conduit, you've found that the only people you can turn to are your fellow Conduits. You know there are others in your city. You've heard the rumors, thanks to word of mouth and the internet, a rumor about groups of Conduits banding together. You seek them out.
You eventually find your new friends.

You may or may not be familiar with the "inFamous" series of video games this roleplay is based on, but for the most part, we won't be using any of the canon from those games in this RP. The same basic premise is shared, where a sub-species of humans possess a gene that awakens in them superpowers, and it has gone largely unnoticed by the world until now. Whether or not the government or other shadowy groups were aware of the Conduits' existence before now is a plot element that won't be explored, at least not initially.
The RP will be taking place in "Millenium City" which is basically just Chicago but named after that city's Millennium Park. It will share that city's layout and major locations but will be malleable to fit the RP's needs.
Based on the plot, your character will have to be seeking out others for whatever reason you feel is best. They'll end up banding together as part of the same group, for better or for worse.
You'll be able to play multiple characters as well!

Name: (Including nicknames/titles)
Known by: (This is what the general populace calls your character, not so much something they come up with themselves. Generally, the characters will be unknown at first, but like or not, they'll have one eventually as they become more visible. You can have multiple names, but they should generally not be flattering names. It's up to you if your character actually enjoys the name or not)
Age: (A conduit can be any age in theory, though I think we'll be putting the minimum age at 16. If you really want someone younger, then talk to me about it)
Gender: (Yeah)
Appearance: (A written description to give us an idea of your character's looks, physique, and preferred style of clothing. You can post just a picture if you want, but it's optional. Do try to avoid pictures of really well-known actors or well-known characters if you can)
Disposition: (Does your character value personal survival over altruistic justice, or is it the other way around? Feel free to add a bit of personality to this if you'd like, but it's not required)
Conduit Abilities: (What powers have they gained? In the original video games, it would seem manipulation of a specific element is the norm, but feel free to get creative here. Try for things that are more than just super strength or speed, as most Conduits likely have increased strength and endurance than regular humans anyway. If there are any applicable weaknesses you can think of, put them here as well.
Also, you can't have multiple unrelated powers. For example, the power to manipulate both fire and water. You can, however, do that if you have an eventual goal for these powers to develop into one power that works together in some manner. Using the example above, the power to manipulate steam comes to mind)
Weapon of Choice: (Does your character use a weapon to complement their powers in a fight? This is entirely optional as your character may rather use their powers or not have a weapon at all. Keep in mind that these should be more common items because I'll definitely be refusing a bunch of swords or guns. Just a note, I won't be taking any new characters with firearms as weaponry for the time being)
History: (Give a basic idea of what their life was like before they realized their powers. Also include what happened immediately after this. If they have a family, how did they take this?) -
