Genres
I like nearly all genres as long as they are anime-themed, anything can be made interesting.
Everybody and their mother has one and abusing PMs is getting annoying for it.
Also hey, why do you waste your time here?

No spoilerino anymore.

Erika Krammer
BUadJxu.png

"Just notice me!"

Height: 168cm
Weight: 67kg
Age: 27
Gender: Female

Character Description:
Having been born as the inferior twin to a prestigious family had, usually, never been easy. Neither was it any different for the elf-human hybrid going by the name of Erika. Not only had she certain expectations to meet, she had certain expectations to meet while being directly compared to her intellectually superior sister Inghild.

Doing great in an exam meant nothing if it wasn't nowhere close to Inghild, and even then the attention was generally on the higher-scored of the two twins. Everybody loved Inghild. Erika had been living in her shadows. Where most stories take a turn for the worse and end in some weird envy-drama, Erika was different.

Just like her family, the pretty much identical looking girl loved Inghild just as much. She adored her couple minutes older sister just as much as everyone. Rather than jealously, she looked up to her. Rather than feeling mad, she told herself to try harder. No matter how much she failed, Erika was a fighter. Ultimately, even if everything wasn't right, it wasn't all too wrong either.

Things changed however when their career paths diverged. Where her older sister followed a promising career of science and magic, Erika went to the military. There, the blonde-haired girl had, despite her looks, a promising career. Being referred to as a natural she quickly managed to impress a whole lot of people around her -at first.

Without her older sister who had basically been around her permanently, and already having developed a certain kind of obsession that served for self-protection, things became... difficult. While Inghild was a diamond, Erika a piece of gold, and everybody else was simply some smelly poo. Thus, without said diamond around it came to no surprise that the piece of gold made a certain realization and acted out. These people were basically, compared to her lovely sister, trash. Trash that didn't deserve her compassion, let alone attention.

It didn't matter how much Talent Erika had. It didn't matter how much better she was than the others. With, what seemed to be close to zero social skills, the woman was simply benched. Silently suffering, as the only strand keeping her from completely snapping was getting praised by her older twin. Erika waited...

and waited...

...until, one day, as if fate wanted to, the young woman got reunited with her twin. Not just some holiday visit or weekend trip. No, reunited in the truest sense of actually piloting a Titan Knight, together, on the field.

Sure, it sucked to wear formal clothes most of the time just because Inghild liked her to, but that was just a small sacrifice in comparison for their legacy to finally, truly, begin!

Armament:
4x Rheinmetalica XM-666 "The Devil's" Smoothbore 85mm auto cannons/110mm cannon +6(85mm) 120 round magazines, and 4(110mm) round magazines

1x Rossman, the chain Katana: If a Katana wasn't enough to kill you, lets give it a chain the saw you in half!
6bf81cbcb8a217e2d50272671af6bf18.jpg
Titan Knight functionality: This machine was designed with the intent for speed and bone crushing assault. What distinct this unit from other designs is it's ability to make excessively long jumps. For example, if a contemporary unit can only jump for 30 seconds, this unit can jump for 45 seconds if the pilot and her flight engineer manages their engine output carefully. The unit's lack of armor plays a significant role in this unique ability.

Also note that it has superior mobility stats than contemporary mechas and also specially built jump units to enable it to make ludicrous direction changes. Another thing to note about the jump units is that they have been made to burn hotter than the normal engine. If you unfortunately get caught in the jet blast, you will like turn to dust. It is a unit designed to attack from the air when it is on the offensive.

This mech also has another purpose. With it's various sensors ranging from ground penetrating sonar to a good surface radar, it can be employed as a scout or a high capability flanker. The pilot of this unit can handle most of the unit's combat functions and etc by herself like any contemporary design, the real magic is the person who sits in the backseat. The... RIO/Flight Engineer/Tactical analyst. Data from the unit's sensors are relayed directly to the second seat who has sufficient amount of work space to work as an in field tactician/analyst.

Lastly, this unit also wields the latest technologies in long range communication so it can also act as the radioman.

Titan Knight Name: "Prinz Eugen"

Unit Stats:
  • Range: 350Km on a single charge + 50Km with electrical alternative fuel + an additional 100Km with Aether droptanks
  • Cruise speed (surface walking): 40Kmph
  • Maximum speed(surface walking): 55Kmph
  • Cruise speed (jump): 150 Kmph
  • Maximum speed (jump): 175 Kmph
  • Never exceed speed: Mach. 0.5
  • Crew: 2(Pilot +RIO/Flight Engineer/Combat analyst)
  • Ferry range: 550Km
  • Room for perishables(food): 80 Kilograms (about 3 cases of 24 MREs...)
  • Maximum force exertion: +6/-4 Gs

Pros:
  • Statistically better than most contemporary mechs in terms of mobility and close quarters combat capabilities.
  • Is the best form of a "CIC" you can install into a mech with the current advancements in technology
  • Has a specially built engine that can use aether and electricity as fuel. Note, when electricity is used, jump units operate at 75 percent capability and requires a mage to supply such power.
  • Multi-role fighter. (Can serve as an "AWAC" to a certain extent)
  • As a means to navigate around the fuel problem, The Aegis is designed to have aether stores that are separate from the reactor itself. These "fuel tanks" are designed to be easily interchangeable with and readily available aether fuel tank.
Cons:
  • This unit was designed with the intent to not take hits but to prevent it from taking hits. While the Aegis series can take a bit of beating, it doesn't have as much durability as contemporary mechs. It was never built to take brutal direct hits. Taking hits would bring serious tolls on the machine with all it's delicate equipment and etc. Hopefully it's superior mobility stats will... minimize such occurrences.
  • This unit is not the most fuel efficient thing on the block. It has three quarters the range of contemporary designs. This is made up for by it's unique engine processor which takes in both aether and electricity. It can potentially hamper the platoon's ability to move on the map unless it is supplied with Aether tanks.

This is the first song and the last song,
This is our cradle and our coffin.

Amongst the cosmic array
Venus dances ablaze
The fire, the rain, the wind, and the storm
We chant evermore, to war, to morn,
Raging wings, burning desires
Sings solace, falling higher
Fair moonlight, wherein we lay in your void eyes,
Welcome us with your love, discard us with your light
Tear us whole, help us gain insight
Amidst the white, within paradise.

In Phantasmagoria you'll be taking on the role of a Witch living in a place known as Phantasmagoria. A giant, tower-like, construct whose entire society is build around the pursuit of the arcane and battle against the Manablight.

Having just recently finished your Rite of Initiation, you're ready to start an entirely new chapter of your journey.

Will you uncover the truth of your Origin, or simply be another cog in the system?

Guten Tag and thank you for taking interest in my roleplay! The text blurb above was just a really summarized summary about your characters supposed purpose. Pretty simple, right? Magical girls fighting some antagonistic force called the Manablight! I'm intentionally keeping information very limited. Essentially, all you'll know is pretty much what your character knows, too.

I'm going ahead and say so much. A plot is present and even branching depending on your choices. The Witches of Phantasmagoria are just a part of what is in fact, a bigger world I have been working on. I could theoretically run multiple rps within the same, focused, premise and have each explore a different scenario. Instead, I'll leave this choice to you naturally through the IC.

The way I go about GMing is that I am the world and you're the main actors. You'll be the one that decide how the story ultimately ends up. Just because I tell you to go kill the Demon Lord doesn't mean you can't turn sides and join their army instead. That said, I'll do my best to in-cooperate your personal agendas if it fits. Communication is key.

With that out of the way, here are some random, but important, notes about stuff beforehand.
  • This RP will be very Anime.
  • This RP takes a darker approach in regards to the magical girl genre. Happy times are a thing, but not throughout.
  • From time to time, there will be some very light dice shenanigans present. For further clarification, I can provide examples.
  • Posting speed will vary. There will be periods of high-activity followed by a more lax schedule.
  • Discord access will be mandatory.
  • Not a fan of listing rules. Be civil, common sense applies.
  • Every single player character will be of the female gender.
  • Just to name a few fictions I take inspiration from: Shinsekai Yori, Kamigakari, Masadaverse, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica&co, H. P. Lovecraft, The Spirit of Eternity Sword
And, finally, a little bit of info dump. It might appear like it's a lot set in stone and there is no freedom, but only because there is some explaining to do since it's not just 'Fantasy Kingdom Religious Good Guys A' or 'Planet Earth Murrica'. I'm not going into too great of a detail either precisely because there's a lot of void to be filled by you, through the rp.

Also, I should mention that not all information will be available yet for this interest check. Just the most important things to get a general idea about their society. There's stuff like the Manablight being categorized into different danger levels, some actual example of Covens, or a rumor mill like the existence of other civilizations at the beginning of the roleplay and so on.

Phantasmagoria - Ewigkeit in Wiedergeburt

Existing within its own subspace, Phantasmagoria is home to hundreds of so-called Witches. Special gateways connecting their own realm to Horizon, this all-female society has devoted its purpose fighting against the Threshold of Kakophonia. Young witches are not allowed to leave Phantasmagoria until they passed their Rite of Initiation, living a life not unlike that in a boarding school.

Phantasmagoria itself is built in fashion of a tower-like construct. The lower levels housing the majority of facilities to educate and sustain young Witches. The middle level divided into multiple districts such as housing, shopping, entertainment, and crafting. While the upper floor has mostly administrative buildings, with the floors above only accessible to a selected few.

Birth of a Witch
Unable to even fathom the concept of male populace, much less intercourse, some Witches just become pregnant in their early thirties - which is usually also the time their magical powers become less potent.

The baby Witch being taken from the mother and put under care in the lower levels is accepted norm.

Life of a young Witch
Being taken from their mother shortly after birth, Witches are fed and cared for in groups until the age of roughly 3. Participating in what can be compared to a very early kindergarten/luxury children's home. Witches are taught to be self-sufficient while learning writing, math, cooking, and other important skills until the age of 7, where they're kicked of their luxury.

Now required to pay for their own upkeep, they're being offered simple tasks with generous pay while slowly becoming more and more autonomous. Putting emphasis on self-study and working towards the completion of their Historia. It's at this point, usually, that a Witch starts to discover the type of magic they're good at. Either ending up sharing an apartment with some friends or joining one of various Covens.

This trend continues until the age of 14ish, which is the usual milestone for the Rite of Initiation.

Flow
Flow is the equivalent of currency. Witches pay either in favours or Flow. Flow is essentially highly concentrated mana stored inside fancy crystals known as debit crystals that can transfer mana between each other. The act of extracting, or inserting, one's own mana into a debit crystal to increase one's wealth is nearly impossible. Instead, various machinery or prolonged rituals are used to extract mana out of them. There are only a handful of Witches able, and authorized, to produce these crystals under strict guidance. Capitalism, ho!

Rite of Initiation
The final step into adulthood. A combination of theoretical and practical exams. Nobody can really tell what the Rite actually entails, as memories of the actual event are always blurry. Nonetheless, it's undeniable that a Witch feels more powerful after passing the Rite.

Board of Education
The Board of Education is the ruling body of Phantasmagoria, made up of twenty board members. Upon the death of a member, a deadly trial is held to select a successor.

Historia
A special piece of equipment that young Witches spend a majority of their time to create and personalize. After the Rite of Initiation, one's Historia appears to be soul-bound. A great deal of a young Witch's wealth is used to get other Witches to collect materials or perform certain rites, crafting, and enchants.

Oz
The Great Founder. The All-Mother. Slayer of the Beast. 'Origin'. Legends say that Oz is the Will of the World itself given form to fight the Manablight. Founder of Phantasmagoria, her magic was powerful enough to linger even now.

Coven
A collective of Witches that share a similar type of magic, banding together for the greater pursuit of knowledge.

Horizon
A term used for the shattered world beyond Phantasmagoria. Consisting of countless floating islands across an impenetrable wall of fog further below, it has been overtaken by Manablight.

Manablight
A creeping corruption that warps the laws of nature to its own will. Spreading further and further through Horizon, anything in its path turns into a twisted version of its former self, hostile to anything it has not yet touched. While officially called The Threshold of Kakophonia, the Witches mostly dub it as Manablight.

Well, that's that. For now, I'm simply gauging general interest. Once the OOC is up proper we'll see for players to stick around! As for a maximum size, well, that's for another day.

Thanks for your time and have an awesome day!

-Accepted chars with fancy graphic here-
  • Hey and Welcome to a story of Magical Girls doing magical things and trying not to die in horrible ways! If you're reading this you're likely one of the people who already expressed their interest. If you're new, however, there's a link to the interest check at the bottom of this post.

    Status: Sign-ups currently in progress.

If this fancies you, you can still throw down a character sheet.
  • Posting Speed
The roleplay will alternate between two rhythms. A fast one and a slow one. The faster one will usually operate on a 48-hour cycle between GM posts and is generally applied to the mission type'ish scenarios you'll be doing. Failure to post in time might complicate things ICly. Failure to post in time for multiple times without giving me good reason might end up in a kick from the roleplay.

Following that hasty schedule, however, is a time of peace and tranquillity. The slower cycle has no posting requirement at all. Use it to just relax, collab, do shenanigans or to explore the world around you at your own pace.

    Posting Expectations
Be sure to have an understanding of basic grammar. While there is no minimum posting length requirement and shorter posts are totally okay, one-liners — outside of collabs — should be avoided. If you're in need of some more concrete guidance, a length of 100 to 400 words is totally acceptable.

I know you're excited to show everybody your super-neat and cool magical girl with all her quirks and irks. But, the roleplay is aimed at long term. Instead of going through repeated motions of deep introspection to make the reader understand what exactly is going on, try to aim for a natural revelation ICly aimed at the other magical girls, rather than just the reader. Just some food for thought.

    Dice Mechanics
From time to time, there might be certain challenges that will involve the use of dice or similar. The mechanics for this are aimed to enforce team-work, cooperation, and knit the group closer together rather than having pure RNG decide over your fate. That said, the thrill of having dice screw you over will be present nonetheless <3.

    Discord
Phantasmagoria will make use of revolutionary technical advancements and use a very convenient, superior, and advanced chat-client called Discord for most OOC needs after the IC is up. If you don't want to download it, it's even accessible via a browser! If you only have a phone, there's even an app! Discord access will be mandatory and links will be sent out to accepted characters.

    Communication
Communication is important. I can not stress enough that if something is unclear, or you got a question, ask. I'm one of these 'No stupid questions, only stupid answers'-people.

    Persistent World
Phantasmagoria is part of a bigger universe. If this ever gets somewhere and if I ever make another roleplay in the same universe there's a high chance stuff happening here will influence, and be referenced, elsewhere. Just to have that out of the way.

    • Be nice to each other. No drama.
    • Listen to the Iwaku staff.
    • Listen to me.
    • Something something Iwaku Rules.

  • CHARACTER SHEET
Alright, here's the character sheet. How much, or less, you wanna write is really up to you. If there isn't much to go off on I might just fill the void myself. At the same time, more information might give me more to go off on.

Feel free to add more if you want. There isn't a required format except that you put it into a spoiler. If you feel lazy just use the simple code bit below.

If you wanna tell me stuff in secret, send them to me via PM once they're accepted.

Name: The name your Witch is known by.
Font: You'll be colouring your characters speeches, this is the font hex code you'll use. Example: #DC143C
Appearance: The appearance of your Witch. Either a description or anime-styled picture. Feel free to add as much written detail as you want. Height is mandatory. If you use a picture. make sure it's on top of your sheet.
Age: 12 to 16, 14 is most common.

Personality: Your character's personality. Two paragraphs minimum.

Historia: An eternal bond. An unspoken promise. A friendship that transcends time. Describe your Historia here. One paragraph minimum.
Coven: Bound by laws and rules. Guided through pretence. The current Coven your Witch belongs to. One paragraph minimum if made up.
Magic: A force beyond mortals comprehension. The power of Gods. Describe the style of magic your Witch employs. One paragraph minimum.

    Code:

Finally, you're a real Witch. It has only been a month since you've passed the Rite of Initiation, an exam whose details still elude you. It has been a month, that you waited. A month, that you relaxed. A month, that you have been told to be on standby.

Each of you had their very own reasons. But none of you would change your choice. A comfortable life in the safe walls of Phantasmagoria? No. You would go out there...

A month has passed, a new Squad had assembled.

It was time to rise beyond the stars.

    • A Witch's magic is in its purest form essentially just reality manipulation. Forcing their own reality, their desires, their emotions, upon their surroundings. In theory, a Witch could think 'I wanna make this person explode' and said person would explode.

There are certain limitations to it, however. For one, it's the nature of a Witch itself. I haven't mentioned it, but they're pretty much human looking. While the world they grow up in is fantastical by default, it's inside their very core to be sceptical. Wanting to manipulate reality in grand ways is a desire that is faulted by default. While on the surface it may seem rather simple to just wish/manipulate something to happen, it is not. Deep down, there are always doubts, questions, fears, and so on. And it's these subconscious thoughts that make pure reality manipulation flawed by design and would ultimately change the outcome to be something that Witch did actually not truly desire.

This plays hand-in-hand with the upbringing of a Witch. A Witch is not being told they can actually manipulate reality, or bend the very laws of the universe to their will. They're told they can do magic and Phantasmagoria's education in itself grounds, forms, and limits a Witch in their capabilities. Nobody will tell you 'You can become anything you want!'. Magic has to follow rules. It has to follow procedures. It has to follow some sort of logic. Specialization, spell chants, emotions, runes, gestures, scrolls, items, and so on. A silent Witch who doesn't even move her body, while not impossible, is practically unheard of. That said, there's still a huge variety in the execution of magic and I hope me giving you some random examples of a Coven give some insight into that.

Lastly, there's also a Witch's Soul which is directly tied to their Mana. It's actually a thing. Mana is pretty straight-forward, you do something, it uses up your Mana reserves, it regenerates. The Soul is what makes an individual an individual and is the reason why the same spell for Witch A could cost a different amount of Mana than for Witch B - although the Historia plays a part in that too. Bottom line, though, it's more-or-less just IC fluff.

Witches aren't aware that their magic is actual reality manipulation.
    • Flow is the equivalent of currency. • A collective of Witches that share a similar type of magic, banding together for the greater pursuit of knowledge. Covens could be compared to guilds, school clubs, or a certain type of magic. It's common for Covens to recruit young Witches into their ranks. Covens can offer a variety of advantages such as specific workshops, lectures, libraries, discounts if they're about a specific craft and so on. Despite each Coven having sort of their own political structure and history, they are undoubtedly loyal to Phantasmagoria. A trouble-making Coven isn't really a thing, neither can a Coven force a Witch to stay their Coven.

A Witch that passed the Rite of Initiation but without a Coven is rather rare and are classified as Etranger.

    • A special piece of equipment that young Witches spend a majority of their time to create and personalize. After the Rite of Initiation, one's Historia appears to be soul-bound. A great deal of a young Witch's wealth is used to get other Witches to collect materials or perform certain rites, crafting, and enchants.

An Historia can take many different forms of an object. Mundane clothing articles, swords, staffs, grimoires, dairies, jewellery, and so on. They contain literally a part of a Witch's Soul after initial completion and can be made up of the wildest ingredients. A simple example: a diary which's ink is written in Unicorn blood, the pages made out of wraps from a fancy mummy in the catacombs of Nekera, while the book casing is made out of the scales of an Elder Dragon. Put some random enchants on it. For example, that the author of the book can visualize the events that happened as they write them down, and other stuff. And voila. This can be extended on as the rp goes along.

Your Historia is basically a Magical Girl's magical weapon.
    • A Questing Witch is a generic description for Witches that have put it onto themselves to fulfil Missions, also called Quests, that require them to venture outside of Phantasmagoria. This includes, by extension, also any handling of the Manablight. Quests are handled by the administrative body of Phantasmagoria and graded depending on their expected difficulty. Questing Witches and the Squads need to attain a certain level of expertise. A rank, to take on higher grade Quests.
    • Being a Questing Witch alone won't get you to take on a Mission that entails fighting the Manablight. Instead, a collective of Questing Witches that decided to dedicate themselves into fending off the Manablight form a Squad. Usually formed by Witches that graduated on the same year. The group is now required to stick together as they're allowed to pick from a handful of missions depending on their rank. At first, strangers, a Squad is sure to become a happy family.

    • C7_creative7inc_FloatingIsland.jpg

The shattered world beyond Phantasmagoria, called Horizon. Consisting of countless floating islands, filled with treasures from ancient times, across an impenetrable wall of fog further below, it has mainly been overtaken by the Threshold of Kakophonia.
    • Horizon Peak
Far to the north stands an ageless structure. Tall, proud, and never changing. From the bottom of the unknown high up into the endless sky, this tower like monument is gargantuan. Visible to the naked eye, yet so far away that no Witch had ever gotten close to it.

Serves as an outdated navigation point. Glows in the night.

While officially called The Threshold of Kakophonia, the Witches mostly dub it as Manablight.

There is a fine distinction between being taught about the Manablight in Phantasmagoria, and actually facing it. Young Witches often trivialize the Manablight until they're actually facing the more serious threats.

    • Fighting the Manablight is no easy task. While a way to convert the corrupted land back to its former glory has not been found, its advance can be halted. Scattered through Horizon, deep inside claimed Manablight territory, a keen eye might be able to notice a crackle in the air. Cracks on the fabric of reality, as if it was nothing more than mere glass. A slight distortion which feels fundamentally different. These are entrances to an Alptraum.

An Alptraum is an alternate plane of existence from which the Manablight seeps forth. Each Alptraum is fundamentally different from each other, yet, share one thing in common: At the Center of its World, resides a Heart of Pure Darkness. Defeating it results in a slow down of the regional Manablight corruption. Further information is classified.
    • Hostile entities are divided into 5 categories, ranging from nearly harmless to very dangerous.

      ZAYIN
ZAYIN level entities are nearly harmless. They're often simply corrupted Flora and Fauna. They can, however, posses a lethal threat to negligent Witches. How a knife can be dangerous, but you'd need to stab yourself with it.

      TETH

TETH level entities are slightly dangerous. They're often corrupted Flora and Fauna that has capabilities to seriously harm a witch. Although weak alone, they can find strength in numbers.

      HE
HE level entities are dangerous. They can take on a multitude of shapes, even human, and spell a quick death for a careless Witch. A single HE entity can put up an even fight against a single Witch.

      WAW
WAW level entities are highly lethal and display higher levels of intelligence. Even able to communicate with Witches. Apart from their high combat power WAW level entities can be masters of trickery and illusion.

      ALEPH
Information on ALEPH entities are restricted. In case of unexpected contact, a swift death will be your only mercy.
    • While Witches have an innate natural resistance against the Manablight's corruptive powers, repeated exposure and tragic events will ultimately have a toll on them.

Generic Erosion of Self, Trust, Aptitude, and Truth, or GESTALT, is a numerical value to how contaminated a Witch's mind is.

COVENS
These are just some examples of Covens without cutting into too much detail. Feel free to make up your own, use one of those, fill in fluff, or ask questions.

Traditionalists in a way, the Essentia Magia cover a broad spectrum of elemental magic executed through a combination of magically drawn magic circles and spell-chanting. Young Witches often end up joining this Coven while still discovering what magic suits them, making use of their various facilities and knowledgeable senior Witches. At the same time, however, more and more Witches end up leaving to join more specialized Covens, slowly leaving no seniors left to take care of the juniors.
A rather small Coven with harsh entry requirements, Witch's Generation is known for their captivating music-based magic. While some of their members are famous throughout Phantasmagoria, actual concerts have now to follow stricter guidelines. Thanks to an incident that put half of Phantasmagoria into a state of euphoria.
Terra Anima is a Coven specializing in the creation of Golems - primitive lifeforms with a humanoid shape able to execute simple tasks. Generally considered a hassle to be made fit for combat, members of this Coven often find themselves without any worries for Flow. As demand for Golems, and maintenance, seem always high.
Ordo Draconica is one of a few Covens who are all about their lineage. Legends have it that hundreds of years ago the Witch 'Nonoriri of the Crimson Path' drank the blood of a hundred dragons. Giving her and her descendants' abilities not unlike a dragon itself. Witches born from a member of the Ordo Draconica are given a tattoo at birth and later recruited into their ranks.
While a Witch's Historia is a life-long assignment to work on even after passing the Rite of Initiation, this Coven takes it to the next level. Fledgeling Witches claiming of being able to hear their Historia suddenly talking are the ones usually eligible for joining. While the specific type of magic can vastly differ from member to member, their Historia always seems to play an even more unique role. A widely-known enchantment the Regalia Historia employ is the cartridge system - a modification to an Historia that allows it to consume debit crystals to temporarily boost the power of the user.
Stella Gambit employs the use of a magical deck. Able to draw from it and cast various spells at ease. While the detailed use differs from Witch to Witch, the luck of the draw seems to be a core concept. Stella Gambit is also the producer of the popular magical card-game WIXOSS Go! Go! Magic Girl!

This is the first song and the last song,
This is our cradle and our coffin.

Amongst the cosmic array
Venus dances ablaze
The fire, the rain, the wind, and the storm
We chant evermore, to war, to morn,
Raging wings, burning desires
Sings solace, falling higher
Fair moonlight, wherein we lay in your void eyes,
Welcome us with your love, discard us with your light
Tear us whole, help us gain insight
Amidst the white, within paradise.

Existing within its own subspace, Phantasmagoria is home to countless so-called Witches. Special gateways connecting their own realm to Horizon, this all-female society has devoted its purpose fighting against the Threshold of Kakophonia. Young witches are not allowed to leave Phantasmagoria until they passed their Rite of Initiation, living a life not unlike that in a boarding school.

Phantasmagoria itself is built in the fashion of a tower-like construct. The lower levels housing the majority of facilities to educate and sustain young Witches. The middle level divided into countless districts such as housing, shopping, entertainment, and crafting. While the upper floor has mostly administrative buildings, with the floors above only accessible to a selected few.

    • Unable to even fathom the concept of male populace, some Witches just become pregnant in their early thirties - which is usually also the time their magical powers become less potent. A Witch can give birth to multiple Witches.

The baby Witch being taken from the mother and put under care in the lower levels is the accepted norm.

Shortly after that, the very young Witches are fed and cared for in groups until the age of roughly 3.

Either end up sharing an apartment with some friends or joining one of the various Covens.

This trend continues until the age of 14ish, which is the usual milestone for the Rite of Initiation.

The Rite of Initiation is the final step into adulthood. A combination of theoretical and practical exams. Nobody can really tell what the Rite actually entails, as memories of the actual event are always blurry. Nonetheless, it's undeniable that a Witch feels more powerful after passing it.

    • The Board of Education is the ruling body of Phantasmagoria, made up of four board members. Upon the death of a member, a deadly trial is held to select a successor. Although it is much more common for a Witch to challenge a current board member for their position.

Character Type: Summoner
Character Name:
Kyouko Himura
Character Color Code: #3DA3C2
Appearance:

oCyz3Xp.png

Original Artist: Big Saber from Fate/Empire of Dirt by shijiu/adamhutt

Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Roleplay of Origin: Hisakawa - Hard Reset

[Character Details - Kyouko Himura]

Personality

Kyouko Himura appears to be a somewhat rude individual that does not mince her words when interacting with others. Often times butting heads with somewhat more dishonest individuals as she purposefully foregoes tact in favour of bluntness. If she isn't busy calling people out, however, Kyouko's usually a somewhat pleasant person, albeit stubborn. Sadly, years passing have made the blonde somewhat more cynical, sometimes making her lash out at people that don't deserve it.

Likes:

  • Challenge - Despite everything that could be at risk, Kyouko feels a certain itch, a kick, when faced with a situation against her odds. Overcoming it feels just that much more better.
  • (Spicy) Food - SWith the Patchworlds having opened up, Kyouko is capable of experiencing a world full of taste she could not even dream off. Always eager to try the newest and weirdest stuff, she has taken a liking to spicy food.
  • Physical Activities - Being just a summoner hasn't stopped Kyouko from staying physically fit. And, just like with the food, the Patchworlds have opened a whole new array of possibilities. Who doesn't like volcano bungee jumping?

Dislikes:
  • Injustice - Dishonesty, manipulation, exploitation, greed. The list goes on. It could all be so simple, yet it isn't. Kyouko has her own sense of justice and somewhat condemns people who are, by her definition, bad.
  • Not-Happy-Endings - Who right in their mind person would want anything but a happy ending? With everybody alive and happily ever after? Exactly. The girl goes out of her way to call people out who show themselves to be content with anything but the happiest scenario.

Proud of:

  • ??? - ???

Ashamed of:

  • Her Chuunibyou past - Many years ago there used to be a time that consisted of big parts of something she'd rather forget. Even today it is something she'd rather keep hidden and not talk about. The existence of Kyouko Hiruma is not helping, however.
  • ??? - ???

Fears:

  • Memory manipulation - Having 'woken up' to the realization that she forgot someone dear to her, Kyouko is terrified of the thought that the things she remembers aren't how they're supposed to be.
  • ??? - ???

Bio (Original Setting):

Before falling into Limbo, Kyouko played her part in a somewhat bizarre slice-of-life school setting. Having been implanted with a chip that makes stuff go all 'VR', her best friend had been accused of being a hacker. Yet, together with the other students, their class went through a few misadventures of happy and sad times just to, ultimately, be forced to forget the existence of her dearest friend right after Christmas. How exactly she landed in limbo, Kyouko isn't sure, as there are others of her world, too. But she certainly wasn't too happy about the flood of information upon the malfunctioning of the ship.

"Never lose Hope!"

Character Type: Spirit
Character Name:
Kyouko Hiruma
Character Color Code: #FFBF00
Appearance:

ZZCRN3t.png

Original Artist: Dodome Mayo

Race: Human Super Hero
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Roleplay of Origin: Final -V-

[Character Details - Kyouko Hiruma]

Personality

Kyouko is a little ball of energy that strongly believes there is a good in everybody. Being, quite literally, a super hero the girl's always on the lookout to 'save the day' and just do good, always in the need of action and attention. There are rare times however where she displays a more vulnerable self as she struggles with certain insecurities and doubts, and even the brunette can't be hyper 24/7 a day. Ultimately, however, Kyouko's 'just loud, annoying, and weird'.

Likes:

  • Kyoukos - Kyouko was amazed at the fact there was another Kyouko! Sure, the name isn't that unique but the fact they have/had a lot of parallels convinced Kyouko there must be more alter Kyouko's! And the girl's adamant about finding them.
  • Cool Stuff - Giant robots, super heroes, costumes, epic chants, heterochromia, big weapons, and so on. The stuff kids dream about. The obvious cool shenanigans. While she doesn't quite fit the picture of a typical Chuunibyou, she nonetheless embraces a lot of things that are associated with it. But, then again, it's totally cool and those who disagree are just too ashamed anyway!
  • Dreams - Kyouko sees it all the time. Countless people who lost their Vibrance. Who gave into the boring monotony of a boring everyday life. This encourages her just that much more to hold onto the things she cherishes and wants to achieve. And always aim for higher grounds!

Dislikes:
  • Complexity - Often times people talk way too much with way too many plans and way too many if's and what's and making themselves crazy when it is, in fact, always boiling down to quite simple solutions. Sometimes you just gotta do it!
  • Lectures - Kyouko has grown tired of lectures about what she could and should do better or different from a certain summoner. In fact, she has grown tired of anyone giving her any kind of lectures about how she should be, rather than appreciating who she is.
  • CapitalismMoney - Too much anyway. Despite being plentiful rich herself, Kyouko's seen often enough just how much people can change for the worse if you throw enough money at them.

Proud of:
  • Saving the world, multiple times! - It's what super heroes in a multi-dimensional hyper-anime setting do, duh.
  • Her Fandom - After saving the world from the power-hungry Thremont's and their father to create a dictatorship ruled and protected by technology by ordinary humans for ordinary humans the Final Five's popularity surged. Kyouko has been part of a idol group and multiple TV shows and cartoons ever since then. While, ultimately, the celeb life wasn't for her, it's nonetheless a legacy that lives on. In her world anyway.
Ashamed of:

  • Being a horrible friend - Kyouko once had a best friend, Miku, that she believes to have dissapointed in every way possible. It's a shame she shares with no one, but carries alone.
  • Her Father - It took Kyouko a long time to realize to accept Godot Hiruma for who he truly was. A wannabe criminal that loves money more than his own daughter. Still alive and well to this day.

Fears:
  • Being Exposed - Kyouko's entire legacy is built upon a lie and the sacrifice of her best friend. 'The hero girl who killed the Chaos Witch', news headlines and the biggest lie that set her on the initial path of a hero.
  • Neuanfang - A deep fear has wormed into Kyouko's mind to not mess with certain things in regards to her power. What once started out as a feeling of unease to simply 'not do' things that shouldn't be done, has now only become worse. Especially with the whole limbo mess they're all in.

Bio (Original Setting):
Kyouko origins from a high-techno-magic world that throws around with trans-dimensional horrors, power-hungry companies, government regulated heroes, and just magic, anime, and technology all thrown together.

The girl herself was only somewhat unordinary until, through a series of accidents, she was thrown to be member of the most famous super hero group on the planet: The Final Five. With them she fought of a dimension traveling horror (multiple times), recovered a source of endless energy, shot themselves at the speed of light to and from mars, un-froze and beat up a planet eating eldritch monster on said mars, fought off a high-technology doom weapon fleet with a capital ship the size of china and so on.

Ultimately, the demise of her world had been called forth while battling against a group of 'villains' who were the stereotypical anti to the five superheroes, making powers clash that should not have clashed.

Bio (In Limbo):

???

[Abilities - Kiri Moriya]

Weapon: CBody and 'stuff lying around'
Kyouko's powers can make her utilize most things as weapons one way or another if punching things isn't good enough.

Skills + Equipment:

  • Neuanfang - The Restored World: (Trans: New Beginning)
Having been granted one of the Keys of Creation: Recreation, Kyouko has been granted the ability to reverse the state, or property, of a entity to an earlier point in (non) existence. Where she once simply started out by drinking and crushing a tin-can just to make it 'as new again', she quickly developed into a force to be reckoned with. There have been situations in her world where her power-level went nuts, especially around the 'dimensional invader' kind of enemy. There are, of course, limitation like range and time and so on. One of her favorite past time is turning a simple rock throw into a deadly projectile by resetting various properties to the moment of the actual throw while letting it accelerate further and further.
  • ???
Using the faster-than-light cannon to fire herself, and the others, to Mars, the group ripped through the boundaries of reality and were each met with a mysterious vision after beating up their favourite past time eldritch horror. Kyouko has been granted a mysterious amulet by a mysterious woman whose purpose she is not sure of even up to today. It, nonetheless, boosted Neuanfang to a level that she was actually useful in combat.
  • Hyper Kyouko Final
What was once the 'ability' to execute a physics defying super-move under the right circumstances has since then developed into a 'general state' of displaying extreme levels of strength. Like ripping through parts of Thremont's flying doom fleet.
  • Unbreakable Will
What do you do when you fail at something? You try again. You fail? You try again. Over and over and over again until, one time, you succeed. Kyouko has the innate ability to eventually succeed, if even just a single time, at anything as long as she keeps trying.
  • Luck favors the Bold
Kyouko seems to display an absurd level of luck which played a substantial part to got her to where she currently is. Sadly every casino in Shanhu banned her.

[Section 4 - Relationships (For Both Characters)]

Hi.

Dawn of an Era
Dawn of an Era - TV Tropes
Since arriving in Limbo, Suki's efforts have mostly been toward developing what she calls the 'Memory Capsule System,' or MCS. After months of collaborating with brilliant people across diverse patchworks, the result is a small, nearly-indestructible, adamant crystal. This crystal can store a 20-word-max message that is jokingly called an 'Oblivion Tweet.' If the owner's life signature cuts off for a few seconds, the crystal relays the message to its owner telepathically. Already, several crystals have been manufactured, and they carry with them the hope that the technology will continue to develop until all memories can be saved.

Advice Backfire

In order to test the MCS, Suki had to reset herself and confirm the message was properly relayed. The message she chose involved the words "Trust the blue-haired girl. She's Kiri: your friend." Shortly after Suki's death, another blue-haired girl named Mana happened to notice the bloody scene using a flying spy-camera and popped in, causing the now-reset Suki to take her own advice as a horrible joke.

Sukimairu has a small, beta version of a headset with a built-in AI assistant named Kita. This headset has an incredible range of abilities: making phone calls, ordering things online, organizing cloud files, and many other useful things... or at least, it would if it had internet access. Sadly, without Wi-Fi, this incredibly advanced piece of technology ends up reduced to an encouraging voice in Suki's ear the vast majority of the time.

—Mahou Shoujo's—
[CAST LINK HERE]

Japan — 2019, welcome to the fictional town of Hisashiro. With a total population of roughly 25.000 people, Hisashiro certainly can't be called a metropolis, but is nonetheless large enough to offer various activities for the young and old alike. Be it a local arcade, the nearly desolated town library, or the considerable sized cinema. Hisashiro would be a very popular tourist and holiday location, thanks to its famous thermal spa, if not for the disturbing rumors of the occult.

People going missing, strange sightings at night, residents with memory loss. The list could go on and on. But as a perfectly ordinary student of Hisashiro Academy, a cornerstone of Hisashiro that accompanies students after elementary school until graduation, you know better than to believe these silly rumors!

After all, the occult doesn't exist...

  • Hallo and welcome to Igniting Hearts — a Mahou Shoujo Fantasy! In this Anime Urban Fantasy Magical Girl RP you're going to take on the role of a Mahou Shoujo (to be) and do what magical girls do. Fight mean monsters and do the Friendships to hopefully achieve your Happy Ending!

Playing in modern times and being strongly inspired by a well-established genre, there isn't too much surface-exposition that needs to be done. Since Igniting Hearts also focuses on the exploration of the unknown, lore-specific information is limited to what the player characters know ICly. Make sure to regularly check the post containing more lore [INSERT LINK HERE].

What differentiates Igniting Hearts from other RPs of its genre is, [INSERT MECHANICS LINE], the process of creating three NPCs alongside your player character. These NPCs are supposed to represent people that have an important relationship to your character, one way or another, and are going to be used by the GM to make your character feel invested more easily. It goes without saying that these NPCs will be further modified by the GM, too.

The strongest source of power for a magical girl is the power of friendship. By solving certain problems, mysteries, and doing the socials with these NPCs, the Mahou Shoujos will ensure a better chance at victory in future struggles...

    [MORE EXPLANATION OF MECHANIC BIT]

  • Posting Speed
Posting expectations is going to be at least two posts a week.

    Discord
Igniting Hearts will make use of revolutionary technical advancements and use a very convenient, superior, and advanced chat-client called Discord for most OOC needs after the IC is up. If you don't want to download it, it's even accessible via a browser! Only got a phone? Don't worry, there's an app also!

    Communication
Communication is important. I can not stress enough that if something is unclear, or you got a question, ask. There are no stupid questions. Or maybe you want to do something a little bit 'out there', like one of these important NPCs being a dead family member? Maybe, just communicate.

    • Be nice to each other. No drama.
    • Listen to the Iwaku staff.
    • Listen to me.
    • Something something Iwaku Rules.
