inner personality
on the inside, ruelle is more or less the same -- except she's got a lot more pent up. the feelings about her mother, the feelings about moving from her home in australia, all of it is kept deep down and bottled up because she doesn't want to upset people with her opinions. she feels like it's better if she just keeps things to herself and so she does, and this potentially causes problems for her, mentally, and fuels her social anxiety and insecurities.

history
ruelle has lived a more or less normal life for most of her upbringing. she had a loving family and a passion for dance from a very young age. really it seemed like nothing could go wrong till ruelle turned twelve. her mother had been so busy with her young son lately, that on the night of ruelle's twelfth birthday, she decided to take her out to celebrate with some ice cream while her dad stayed home with rory.
that night marked a huge change in ruelle's life because on the way to the ice cream parlour, they got into a bad accident. ruelle was messed up and couldn't dance for months. her mother faced a worse fate, and died on impact. ruelle has blamed herself for it ever since, and the scar on her leg is a constant reminder.
for a long while, ruelle changed into a more depressed girl, and in between, she had even resorted to some self harm. by the time her fourteenth birthday came around, ruelle slowly was lifted from that depression, due to the help of her father, grandfather and best friend oscar. her brother, not knowing much at the time, was not affected as much, but he helped too, and ruelle loves him deeply.
ruelle was back to her normal self, though every year, around her birthday, she would slip into a bit of depression, so she just stopped celebrating her birthday altogether.
recently, her father thought it would be good to have a change of scenery and since he was offered a new job outside australia, he decided to pursue it, resulting in the whole family moving out of australia for a fresh start.
