Yulia shook her head quickly and all but pulled him from the dance floor. She also pulled him out of the room completely and away from the crowd. "I've never been very good in small rooms and such a large crowd. I grew up under the stars more often then not." She says with a small grin as she looked to the man she was dragging along.

Elijah met her gaze with a tender smile as the final notes of the song sounded and he ended dipping her gently. He held her like that for a moment before tipping forward to kiss her slowly. Then he spun her up onto her feet and led her off the dance floor. Kol and Rebekah both stayed on the floor mingling with people as they danced cozying up to the more populat people of the town. Doig their usual jobs when settling in a new place. "Of course we can sit. Perhaps get some food?"

I kiss Elijah back immediately, smiling softly and holding tightly to him. As we step off the dance floor I hold onto his hand, threading our fingers together. "That sounds nice." I agree, humming a tune under my breath. "Your family makes me nervous." I whisper to him after a moment of glancing around to see who's near.

Klaus follows after Yulia almost mindlessly, walking after her, keeping pace fairly easily. Honestly, if he wanted he could just halt and she'd essentially be pulling at a brick wall, but he finds he enjoys indulging her. "I was raised similarly. Granted, very much a product of my time."

Yulia hums softly as she looks back at him with a little laugh, "yes your old as dirt, we've covered this already." She says and then bit her lip the smile continuing to pull her mouth up in the corners as she finally finds a quiet area of the house. "I quite like this part of the house..." She says softly as she glanced around seeing all the paints and sketchs and papers and pads. "So, you and Caroline then?" she asked softly, trying her damdest to not let any jealousy show.

Elijah gives a small nod and leads her from the ballroom into the formal dining area. Instead of one long table their where about twenty small tables set up each with two chairs and about half of them full. As he pulled her chair out for her then pushed her into the table a woman dressed in a black tux minus the jacket walked up and asked which they would prefer a salmon dish or beef. He asked for the salmon and smiled as he tucked a napkin down on his lap for now. "aside from my nerve wrecking family have you at least enjoyed the evening so far?"

I laugh softly as Elijah begins speaking, my feet subtly kicking in my seat. "I have actually. I enjoyed dancing with you." I tell him, giving him a genuine smile. "And the house is lovely. Whoever decorated did a very good job." I add on quickly, glancing around the room at the decorations for the event.

Klaus hums under his breath. "A means to an end, I assure you." He says casually. "The girl holds sway in the town. That influence is useful." He explains casually as he walks around his art room. "I thought I may have had feelings for her. For a short time. But I have recently been proven wrong."

Yulia lifts a brow as she looked over her shoulder at him her hand skimming over quite a few paintings leant up against eachother before coming to rest of one painted to look like the sunset over a mountain ridge. It was beautiful slightly hazy as if fog clung to the trees. "must have been very recent?" She says softly as she meets his gaze now, "You asked her to dance after all." She points out cheekily.

Elijah laughs softly as he looks around quickly. "I am glad niklaus did not hear you saying such things. His head is already much to large for his shoulders. I fear such a compliment would send him teetering over the edge of smugness." He says softly, "I am glad though that your enjoying yourself tonight. I was quite worried that my dailies intensity would frighten you off." He shares quietly his eyes careful to meet hers as he spoke so she would now he did not doubt her.

I feel myself melt inside at his caring and worried words, cupping his cheek gently and pecking his lips. "Nothing in this world could scare me away from you." I whisper to him, very gently bumping my forehead against his for emphasis. "The only thing I find myself concerned with is Kol...but that's a discussion for another location." I whisper to him, hoping that I'm being quiet enough for only him to hear me.

Klaus hums. "Indeed I did. I must maintain my connections unfortunately. And yet, I find myself drawn away from such endeavors and to you, little wolf. Now, why exactly is that?" He asks, half rhetorically, half wanting an answer. Deep down, he has a feeling he knows the reason for this pull, but he's not 100% sure, as he wasn't raised with knowledge of his wolf half. So he is basically winging it when it comes to wolf things.

Yulia blinked a bit surprised by his blunt questions and she tiped her head to the side slightly. She knew why he was pulled to her of course. She'd followed that pull across several states until she found the source after all. "that's something you have to figure out for yourself Nik." She says softly as she stared at him for a long moment. Sge wanted to tell him of course but how exactly do you tell someone they love you? Because she really didn't know.

Elijah looked at her as she brought up kol again and sighed softly. "If you wish to know more about kol and his intentions then simply act interested in his offer. He is not the subtle type." He says quietly as he reachs across the table and then glances up as the woman comes back with his salmon dish and then her lamb dish. It was a simple menu two options only. He was satisfied with the seasonings and so started to cut off pieces of the food and eat it slowly. "I am glad you stick by me, my dear."

I shake my head. "It's not his intentions I'm concerned with. I'm well aware he probably only wants to teach me so he can use my power to benefit him. I just don't know how he knew what I am. I never told him and I know you wouldn't, because that would put me in danger because I'd become a person of interest to your family." I explain to him. "You're the only one here I know I can trust." I add on, making sure to make eye contact.

Klaus sighs and shakes his head. "Somehow I knew you would say something like that " he says simply. After a moment, he invites Yulia to take a seat. "If you wish to remain here where we will be left alone, may as well make ourselves comfortable, love." He explains casually, fixing her with a wolfish grin.

Yulia looks down we the painting again before she moves to his side taking a moment to stand up looking down on him. Even with it being an uncommon thing she had managed to do this, be taller then him, quite a lot today. Then quite slowly she folded herself up into his lap, making herself more then comfortable as she glanced around the room. "that does sound like a very good idea." She says softly as she lays her head on his shoulder slowly and glances across the room to a large painting he had hung on the wall, "you did all these right?"

Elijah sighs softly as she brings up kol knowing about her magic. "When we were little Kol was the only one of us that showed any magical capabilities. He was a prodigy really. His skill uickly surpassed ayanas level and he was no older then twelve, while Ayana had been a witch since before we settled in the town. When he was turned into a vampire by our parents he lost that natural ability and all that remains us his ability to sense other people's magical potential. That's how he knew you had magic." The talent had been quite annoying in the past given Elijah seemed to have a type for falling in love with witchs.

I nod my head in understanding at his words, humming in thought. "That's interesting." I mumble before shrugging and stretching a bit. "Doesn't matter now." I say with a happy little smile. After a moment I shift and hum. "Let's eat, yeah?" I ask him, watching his face curiously.

Klaus wraps his arm around Yulia's midsection, pressing his nose to her neck, breathing in her scent slowly. "I did. I've always loved painting." He whispers to her, his other hand stroking her beautifully done hair. "One of the only things that soothes my nerves."

Yulia smirks slightly feeling his nose press into her neck. Her hand slips into his hair her nails scrapping gently at his scalp and tugging gently as he hid in her neck for a second "you are very good," she says softly as she looks down at him now. He looked adorable all snuggled into her his arms around her waist and his face tipped down into her neck and chest. She anted to kiss him but he as a stranger to her. She really shouldn't.

Elijah looks at her and gave a small nod as he looked down a tthe food when it was placed in front of them. "Would you like the salmon or the beef? He asked softly. He had not ordered the food for himself after all he just wanted to give her the option of either meal. He did not eat much human food in truth chosing to sustain himself mainly on her blood or blood bags.. he pushed the plate away from himself slightly after taking a couple bites for show more then anything else and motioned for her to take what she wanted from his plate.

I shrug a shoulder, looking curiously at the salmon. "I've never tried Salmon before." I admit as I take a piece from Elijah's plate. Taking a bite, I hum in thought. "Funno what I expected. Tastes like fish." I joke softly, taking a bite from my own plate next. "It's good."

Klaus glances up at her from his spot nestled into her chest, humming. "Thank you, love. Centuries of practice." He jokes softly, arms giving Yulia's waist a firm squeeze. "I could paint you sometime." He offers her after a beat of silence.

Yulia looked at him and raises a brow her smile small as she met his gaze. "Hm, trying to reinact that titanic scene? Are you gonna find a big gem for me to wear?" She asked curiously her eyes bright with humor. She knew he was being quite serious and he likely had not meant to invoke such a scene in her head but she wanted to make him comfortable and humor seemed to do that most often. He was being rarely vunerable.

Elijah blinks, salmon was rather common, it was surprising she hadn't eaten it yet. He hummed softly and then chuckled as she admitted it tasted like fish. "well I would think it would. It is a fish after all." He says teasingly before he sits back in his seat and glances about the room slowly. He didn't like to stare at her while she was eating it usually made her uncomfortable. So he let his eye stray taking in the surrounding room quickly and making sure no one was attempting to sneak up on them while they where seemingly vulnerable.

I continue to eat my food as neatly as I can manage. I don't want to embarrass myself or worse, Elijah, in front of so many people. After a few bites I lean forward some in my seat, smiling at Elijah. "I love you 'Lijah." I whisper to him, closing my eyes as my face flushes bright red. It's hard for me to say the words verbally, but I'm doing my best.

Klaus chuckles low in his throat at her humorous words, his fingers flexing to hold her firmly in his lap as he shifts to get more comfortable in his seat. "Oh I absolutely can. What is it she says...'paint me like one of your French girls'?" He asks, making a little joke of his own in return. He finds conversation with Yulia easy, completely natural. It should be concerning but it's not.

Yulia Snickers softly a she leans into him a bit enjoying how he held her as he laughed. It was a rich sound that spilled from his lips almost like honey and she adored how it sounded. His eyes a bright hazel green color practically sparked with delight. "Careful Nik. Before you make promises you can't keep." She says with a soft laugh "I find myself doubting I could hold still long enough for you to paint me." She admits softly though she enjoyed the idea of him staring at her for so very long.

Elijah looked at her and smiled briefly his hand lifting from his lap to clasp hers over the table and squeeze it gently. "I love you too Marie." He says softly. He knew he did not need to say it she never questioned his devotion to her but it always made her relax when he returned the affectionate words after she had said them. Made her feel better, like it was not such a hard thing. He supported her however he could. "You've done very well tonight, I think that was more then enough excitement myself. Perhaps you would like to go ho-" his words where interupted by a sudden commotion out in the entreeway. His mother. Speaking. Calling everyone to the entreeway for a toast, how strange. "Come, before our absence is noted." He says softly as he stands and overs her his hand to help her stand as well.

I smile when he says he loves me as well, blinking curiously as he is cut off with his mother calling for everyone. Taking Elijah's hand, I stand up and walk with him into the entry way, my hold on his hand tight. This feels suspicious beyond belief, so if we need to get away quickly, I want to be ready.

Klaus, hearing his mother call for everyone to give a toast, groans softly. "Unfortunately, it seems my mother wants everyone's presence. Let us go, love." He says to her, helping her stand from his lap before standing up himself. After they are both firmly on their feet, Klaus offers Yulia his arm, looking the picture of a gentleman.

Yulia gives a low groan. "I don't trust her." She says softly as she takes his arm her hand holding to the crook of his elbow lightly as she lets him guide her from the art room and back down to the crowded entreeway. Really it should be called a lobby with how big it was. "why is the champagne pink?" She voiced softly as the glasses where placed into their hands by insistent waiter.

Elijah sighs softly as he felt Maries grip on his hand tighten and he glances down at her wondering why her heart rate had so suddenly spiked. When he followed his lovers gaze to his mother be blinked in slight confusion and then slowly reached out for his glass of champagne as his mother spoke. It was strange how she was talking but he supposed being dead for a thousand years would probably lead to some severe life style differences to get around once you woke.... "Here my dear." He says handing her her own glass.

I take the glass from Elijah, staring directly at his mother, never once breaking my gaze from her. I get a feeling that I can't trust her. This is all suspicious. It feels like a trap. I lean closer to Elijah. "Don't drink it please...this feels wrong..." I whisper to him, my hands shaking a bit as I hold the champagne handed to me.

Klaus narrows his eyes at the drinks they were basically forced to take, watching the liquid in his glass as if he could force secrets from it. "I'm not sure, love..." He trails off, looking to his mother to see if her drink was also an odd color. "You're likely wise not to trust my mother dear..." he whispers to her.

Yulia shifts a bit on her feet growing uncomfortable under the materiarchs gaze her body shifting slightly closer to Klaus on instinct as she seeks safetym the woman felt dangerous. It was hard to unnerve the jaded alpha but this witch was managing it just fine. Her glare was sharp as she glanced between her son and the wold standing next to him. But she continued her speech not letting on that she was aggrivated besides the glare she gave.

Elijah looked down at Marie again his eyes soft as he watched her with slightly concerned eyes. His hand fell to the small of her back as he took the glass from her again and slowly set them both down on a passing waitors tray again. When the man made a bit of a fuss he gave him a resolute look and motioned for him to keep walking. He felt eyes on him and saw his mother frowning slightly her eyes on his hand noticing the lack of champagne, and he raised his hand to take hold of Marie's waist quickly pulling the woman into his chest in show of comforting her. He had to make it seem as if there was a reason aside from Maries plea for him.to not drink the champagne.

I easily play into being distressed because, honestly, I am. I tuck myself into Elijah's chest, gripping at his blazer. "We have to go. This feels wrong, we need to leave." I mumble to him, eyes flitting about the room for an escape or any visible sign of danger. Taking a slow breath, I look back to his mother, watching her movements suspiciously.

Klaus narrows his eyes ever so slightly, his arm holding Yulia close to his side. Leaning down, he whispers in her ear. "Prenend to drink when she finishes. I do not trust her and you shouldn't either." He makes sure to be quiet so only she would hear. "We'll leave soon as she is finished."
